First Key Homes: DO NOT DO BUSSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! (ZERO RATING) I asked them for a service call to repair a faulty breaker, and broken Ice maker. The problem with any repair is you can only talk (by phone) with overseas call takers who don't have a clue who FirstKey is or even what they do. They don't even have a local office and no phone numbers to the people in charge of making decisions. They don't tell you, FirstKey won't fix either of the problems I had and consider it to be the renter's responsibility to fix it. The call takers, send the info to FirstKey who then makes a work order, (Knowing they are not going to fix these items before the service guy ever leaves the office.) When he gets there, he tells you he's doing you a favor by not fixing it because FirstKey is going to charge you an arm and a leg if he fixes it. Then he begs you for a 5-star rating and says his job depends on it. Most people give it to him because they think he saved them some money. A couple weeks later I got a bill for $300. They said, (we're sorry if you were misinformed by one of our employees) Knowing the whole time they were going to collect $300 from the renter for doing nothing!! They are modern day thieves who hide behind their keyboards and refuse to talk to you about anything.Review from Anna R

Our AC is broken and we need help. I want to start by saying that we have lived in our home for 3 years and have loved it, which makes this situation even more disappointing and confusing.Our AC unit went out for the second time on Wednesday of last week. We called the emergency line right away, and a technician came out the following day. He was unable to fix it, so he installed some temporary window units, and told us to expect a call from the local office. We waited the rest of that day and into the following without hearing anything. Our house was still 85 degrees and we have a newborn baby, so we went to a hotel. We called the local office several times and left voicemails, and never heard anything back. Finally, on Friday afternoon, my husband had to physically go to their office to get answers. We found out that they have to order a new unit, so we have to wait.Now it is Tuesday and we still havent heard anything, despite calling, leaving voicemails, and sending emails. We have no idea what the status is. This is a cry for help. We just want to leave this hotel, move back into our home, and have a working AC.Review from Cheyenne C

How this company even has two stars is beyond me.... My house is literally falling apart around me and they can't manage to get a "maintenance" tech (I use that loosely since they never actually fix anything) out. Where to start??-The ceiling is cracking and sagging in two separate places.- All edges of walls/ceiling through the house are lined with sheet rock tape.... it's all separating from the wall and crumbling off....-There's a broken piece of a Garage Sale sign holding up duct work in the garage.-There's squirrels living in the roof.-The furnace was not plumbed up to code so it was dumping carbon monoxide back into the garage... it took 3 "techs" and a contractor to fix it, and then they just left their trash for me to clean up.-The oven only fits small baking sheets.-The stove gets boiling red hot when it's on low... cooking here has sucked.- I had to scrub literal BOOGERS off the wall after move in.-They painted hairs onto the walls -Had to clean soot off of one ceiling after move in - Previous tenants had a nest thermostat and they were still controlling the temp a week after move in.I should have known they **** when they don't tell you that you have to use a card to apply. When I reached out to ask if there was a way they could accept a bank transfer instead, it took someone ELEVEN DAYS to get back to me and say no.(they only give you 48 hours to pay after approval) I got lucky I had a credit card.-You will never deal with the same rep more than once. It's apparent they have high turnover.-No matter what number you call, even if it's the ** direct line, it re-routes you to a call center in ***** and they will not/cannot give you a number to call to speak to an actual person. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor and they hung up on me.... Our rent is 1635/mo. I just bought a house and even with a 6.1 interest it's cheaper than renting from FirstKey 0 stars if possible DONT DO ITReview from Jenn R

We have sent written requests and called each day to setup a pre-inspection move out walk thru. We call and write daily. The customer service team has contacted the local *******, TN office and are told they are calling as soon as we hang up with customer service, and no follow up. We have tried every avenue to get a response. The customer service team states they can only submit requests to local group. Absolutely horrible service for a company. We have requested our final post move out inspection date as well. No response. Four phone calls alone today by the customer service team to the local office in *******. Local team states they are calling and no call.Review from Paul C

First key homes is a horrible leasing company, I always pay my rent on time. I normally pay my utility bill separate from my rent, for this month of August 2024 they added my utility bill to my rent before my utility bill is due, they added my utility bill in the middle of July 2024 for the month of August, I've been trying to pay my rent but the portal won't allow me to make a partial payment, I've been trying to call but they won't pick up the phone.Review from Alquida S

Today date is 7/31/24 our move in date and i wish i can post pictures. The *** stove or dishwasher is not installed! The living room carpet has mildew water and the kitchen drawers are full of PUFFY green mold!!!! Under the sink, the sink is leaking and mildew! I contacted ******************************* on self tour days ago to fix this and it hasnt been fixed. This dont make no sense of how we move in and simple realty appliances are not fixed plus the garage k*** is missing! Idk what to do I contacted, email and submitted requests. I left voicemails! The person who took pictures took CERTAIN pictures and IGNORED to take pictures of the mold in the kitchen drawers. I need help!Review from Zachary B

My experience with FirstKey Homes was AMAZING! I recently accepted a new position and relocated to ***********, **. I temporarily moved in with friends to give me time to learn the area and search for a home. After a week in the area, my father passed away, and I returned to ******** to help my mother through everything. While in ********, I could use Zillow and found a home listed by FirstKey Homes. After researching the property, the neighborhood, and the surrounding area, I decided to apply for the home. Starting with the application, the entire process was seamless. I completed everything from the application, to the lease, to paying the security deposit/rent, all online. Once my move-in day came, I was instructed on accessing the key box and getting the keys to the home. I am extremely impressed with FirstKey Homes. I was apprehensive about doing everything online, but I was impressed that the pictures of the home online were not deceiving; the home looked as advertised. Everyone I worked with was friendly and extremely quick to respond to any questions I had. I want to thank ********************************* and all the team members who helped me throughout the process. During an extremely difficult time, FirstKey Homes and their easy processes helped bring me tremendous relief! I sincerely appreciate the entire team. Biggest scamming company! We have been honest tenants who pay rent on time or early every month and still received a 16% increase on rental rates for the next year. We have filed multiple maintenance requests and have yet to have the carpet stains resolved that were there when we moved in last year in October 2023. I received a bill for $50 stating that it was OUR issue as tenants to resolve but the stains have been there since before we moved in and documented. I thought the company would be honest in the repairs and they have not been. I wish we would have looked more into this leasing company before signing a lease on the home that we have gone over and beyond with taking care of. We have had the yard maintained with weed control and aeration as well as routine pest control. PLEASE PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE CHOOSING THIS COMPANY TO LEASE FROM!!!! We will now have to uproot our children from the area and everything we've invested in to the home is a waste just to find a more affordable house and a leasing company who will actually maintain their investments.Review from carmel f

I applied at first key home rental I paid the application fee they sent my information over to safe rents for a background screening and credit screening I was then denied I contacted saferent to find out why I was denied and it is because first key did not provide them with all of my income which is why I was denied but I have proof of my income I honestly feel like first key homes is a scam and they are scamming people because they have all my documentation and they did not submit the documentation to the bureau that they are saying does the evaluation to be a tenant.Review from Chancellor W

Absolutely awful experience. Kept running us around telling us that bank statements were okay then not. Kept getting emails for things I had "fixed". Took so long to deal with their ******** that the house was rented to someone else.As a disabled vet it was incredibly frustrating to deal with a group completely unwilling to take va documents and who didn't seem to know how they wanted any one particular document.
