1 starMy three-year tenancy with FirstKey Homes was a continuous ordeal marked by their unprofessionalism and what felt like outright theft. From the outset, necessary repairs were ignored, leaving me to shoulder the financial burden for issues they should have resolved. Significant mold and water damage were present, which they deceptively painted over instead of properly fixing. The situation became unbearable, especially as my family and I experienced health issues likely stemming from the mold, leading to my decision not to renew the lease and providing three months' advance notice of my departure. Despite this, FirstKey Homes fabricated a staggering $7088.12 move-out statement with numerous questionable fees, even though I returned the property in its original condition. Adding insult to injury, they falsely claimed they never received my move-out notice, despite emailing me about a walkthrough they later denied offering. Consequently, they slapped me with a shocking $3108.00 insufficient notice fee. Adding further insult to injury, as a realtor with property access, I visited the property after moving out and can attest that the so-called fixes they charged me for were nonexistent. The property looked virtually identical, with the only change being a fresh coat of black paint on the front door. This blatant dishonesty further underscores this company's appalling conduct, preying on tenants with greed, and I sincerely hope they are held accountable for their unethical practices. They even had the audacity to call and apologize for their unfulfilled promises and the inconvenience caused, only to then shamelessly state that because we signed the lease, they could retroactively claim everything was our responsibility. They even lie about using realtors. I rented through their agents, who disappeared after getting paid. Keep records of all communication. They don't keep good records.Review fromAlex S

1 starJust wanted to note that if you're wondering where the 5 start reviews come from, they scam for their good ratings. Their individual maintenance workers are helpful and they get bonuses for good reviews, so they ask for them. The call center people practically beg for 5 star reviews mentioning their name, but then they count towards the overall company ratings. On their website they just asked me to rate my property, but all of the categories were set to 5 stars and I couldn't change them, and the only option was to submit.Review fromJames h

1 starDO NOT LEASE WITH THEM EVER House was not turned over when we moved ***** 2020 at 1975 base rent, in 2025 they want to put it up to $2795. 40% change. They do not value their tenants, they do not respond promptly to ANYTHING. They put the bare minimum into fixing and maintaining their properties. We have no property manager, everything is routed to a call center out of the **. It took them over a year to fix a subsiding floor and broken floor tiles then they left us in the house whilst they put in the new tiles. Our personal effects, property caked in dust. They refuse to cut overhanging tree limbs directly over the house roof. Multiple plumbing issues that they inadequately deal with. Inadequate hurricane preparedness, living in a house with collapsed, trees, smashed pool, no fence, leaking roof for months. Honestly if I could give this company a zero i wouldReview fromAbigail D

1 starHere is a list of awful things you can expect from FirstKey homes and why they should not be allowed to continue to operate as a business. They gave me the wrong keys to my house when I first moved in, and that meant that I got locked out. When I got locked out on my first day being there because not a single key they gave me went to the house I called for help and they basically told me to call the locksmith and that it was my responsibility and that cost me $200 which it took me five months to get them to give back to me.They have left me sitting in a house that is 85 for multiple days. They came and said they fixed it and then it broke again in 24 hours and now theyre making me wait even longer to have my AC fixed in the middle of f****** **************************************************************************************************** front of my house and the branch intertwines along the powerline, running straight to my home craving in a immense fire hazard. I finally convinced them to come get rid of at least some of the bulk of the tree, but most of it is still standing. They were in violation of gas, safety rules, and let me move into this house with a gas stove that was not functioning properly and then refused to treat it as an emergency despite the fact that I work for the gas company and know its an emergency. They are deceptive, lazy, they use a phone service that is outsourced and offshore, the local office in ********************** is about the biggest joke I have ever dealt with in my life. They show a reckless disregard for the safety of their residents. I intend to ask the housing authority in ******* to look into their practices.Review fromJasmine M

1 starOnce you sign the lease they care nothing about you. They had me sleeping on a gas leak for months while I attempted to get them to do a proper inspection. They are scam artist and slum lords.Review fromJoel J

1 starThis company is modern day criminal activity- no other way to describe it. Moved into a home $2800/ mo, it was not move in ready. Dry wall coming off the ceiling, filthy. Moved out at end of lease term, and wanted to refund $500 or $2800 deposit. The home was immaculate when I moved out- even the walk thru agent said she deems it "excellent." Upon moving in, I sent 50+ emails with pics and descriptions of all that was wrong with the home (and the filth). Companies like this should be shut down- I would highly recommend not leasing from them. Unless you are desperate... I would never do it again! They also gave us a pro-rated amount to pay for the month that we moved, we paid it. Now they are saying it was incorrect. We were model tenants- rent paid on time every month.Review fromGordon S

1 starIf I could leave 0 stars I would. I have had issues with my property since I move in December. The house had issues from the start from water leaks x3 times, circuit breakers, toilets not being properly secured, no insulation under the sub floor plus what it does have is falling down and now we have termites. **************** is a *************** managers are incompetent. It will take days before a property manager or administrator will call you. The maintenance department for this company is also a problem. At times, they are late for their appointments and also like to park down the street from your property b4 the time slot & if you leave then the person will come up & put a we missed you tag on door & get charged $120. Do not rent from First Key Homes. Got to be a much better rental company that will actually keep their properties in good condition because this company doesnt think so.Review fromDarren M

1 starDisgusting company led by greed I just received my ledger and I am truly sick by what they came up with I am currently awaiting a call from management because all you get is useless apologies and the run around from the call center. I am so furious knowing it takes forever for a property manager to actually call. And they may even try to email to resolve when I have stated I need to talk with someone Im going to try going in person and see if I can get someone. I just want to warn potential tenants to turn the other way. They will quickly get you in a place as long as youre able to afford but you will be so drained and stressed with the process and their procedures on handling concerns. And dont even think about getting your deposit back they will pin anything to keep it. Do your research and have a potential Lawyer in mind because they will take you there. I have pictures and videos of all the things needed to discuss. First steps is speaking to management next is consulting on taking my issue to court. First Key is Disgusting and greedy.Review fromAlicia J
