Extremely disappointed with how everything turned out with this gym closing down. All 3 family members of mine including myself signed up with Island Club and Spa and loved it when it was still open. They kept pushing back the opening date of this gym after it flooded in January and said that opening day was **** but turns out that the owner had ran with all of our money and left the state. It ***** because we paid in full for our memberships over $1200 for each of us. Very sketchy business and ** so angry that we arent able to get our money back. They screwed EVERYONE over that had a membership!

They shut the gym down due to water damage and never reopened. We prepaid for the year as well but they took our money and ran.

We first joined Island **** in April of 2022. In January of 2023, my wife and I each paid $1,467.02 when we signed up for a full year's membership. We both accepted the deal presented to us by the then-manager (****). If we were to sign up and pay for a year in advance, we would get four (4) additional months free of charge. In January of 2023, we signed that contract agreement. We continued to enjoy going to the Island **** for the following months of the club experience prior to the **** being flooded/closed on Jan. 12, 2024.Before the flood, there were rumors that the **** was having financial difficulty, and the owner, *******************, was in arrears of the rent to the *****************. We did not pay much attention to the gossip. Many other stories were floating around, but my wife and I did not pay much attention, mainly because we enjoyed the gym and loved getting our daily workout. When the flood happened, we were stricken by being unable to work out and finding a place (hopefully, for a month or two) to continue with our strengthening and cardiovascular exercises. The rumors eventually got worse. Stories revealed that the owner was six-plus months in arrears with rent for the gym. Other stories floating around were that unemployment benefits were deducted from employee checks, but the owner did not pay the state. Another rumor was the State Business license fees were not paid since the reopening of the **** post COVID closure. Some of the employees were stuck trying to collect their unemployment benefits. Another rumor was that one employee was owed a large sum of money. If you were to follow the chitchats, it did not leave you with good thoughts about the owner, *******************, and hopes for Island **** & Spa reopening soon. We, too, have been deceived to believe that the **** would reopen after some time. Since that day, we have received texts/emails from someone we considered the manager and *******************, founder and CEO, promising to reopen the gym.
