RE: Claim Z01840608 On 3/22/2024 my car was hit by a **** Super Duty truck that ran a red light and severely damaged the front of my car. The truck was insured by EMC insurance. EMC insurance accepted the responsibility. And while they repaid my insurance company, they have not replayed the cost of the rental car that I incurred while my car was undergoing the necessary repairs. I was in touch with an agent named ********************* (tel. ************, ************************* who initially did answer my messages, but subsequently completely ignored them. I also repeatedly reached out to his supervisor, ************************* (tel. ************) and have never heard from him. Could you please help me to recover the amount owed to me for the car rental while my car was getting repaired: $1,821.41

in 2022 EMC quoted general liability insurance for our company based on our sales and payroll. We paid the premium for one year at approximately $12K. We told them 1 million in payroll, 10 million in sales. They claim we told them 1 million in payroll, 1 million in sales. I would have no reason to submit false numbers. They then told us we owe them another $11K for unpaid premiums for the PREVIOUS year (2022) and let me add, we had NO CLAIMS. I know insurance companies reserve the right to audit, but they quoted the insurance based on their ERROR. Now they are threatening to *** our company and demanding payment and have turned us over to collections.

Entered by BBB Staff - lj Consumer purchased a life insurance company in November 2022. Policy number IS2281181. It was purchased over the phone. Consumer pays $45 month. Consumer provided his debit card number. Consumer never received his life insurance policy. Contacted the company Consumer was told he would be sent forms. Consumer received the forms. He is required to pay an additional $20 for a duplicate policy when he returns the forms. He feels he should not have to pay $20 and send the paperwork.

    Business response

    12/15/2023

The policyowner provided their address when completing the application on November 12, 2022.  The policy was mailed to the owner at the address of record on November 15, 2022.  The company has no record of return mail on the policy and no change of address had been given.  On October 5, 2023, the company received a notification that the owner would like a copy of their policy mailed to the address on file.  As per the company's policy, duplicate policies may be obtained at the cost of $20.00. A Certificate of Coverage was provided to the owner free of cost, as well as a request form for a duplicate policy.

In the event that the policy owner indeed did not receive his policy and only notified the company at a later date, a one-time exception will be made to send a duplicate policy to the owner at the address of record.

EMC Insurance is the handling carrier for the at-fault party in my automobile claim. After filing my claim I set up an appointment with a local collision repair shop and notified EMC. Before the appointment, I called the shop and was informed that my slot had been canceled. Neither the collision facility nor EMC had notified me of this at the time of cancelation. After the fact, I was told that the shop had requested additional information from the insurance company (which EMC refused to provide), resulting in cancelation of the appointment. I contacted my insurance adjuster 9/14 to express frustration that (a) my appointment had been canceled without my knowledge or consent (b) that information requested by the repair place had not been provided and (c) that the "estimated" repair date of December was now likely pushed out further. I did not receive a call back, but received a text next morning from the appraiser. (In my voicemail I had asked for a call from a supervisor to address my concerns-however I did not receive a call from a lead or even from the adjuster handling my claim). The appraiser's text did not address my concerns related the previous day, but merely stated that certain additional paperwork was required by the collision shop. I responded to that text expressing my requests for (1) EMC to forward ALL requested documents to the collision repair company (2) keep me in the loop regarding further challenges or questions that might arise on my claim In future, particularly ones affecting the timely repair of my vehicle and (3) I asked for a call from a supervisor if either of these conditions could not be met. I have not received a response from the adjuster, appraiser, or anyone else at the company after submitting the last 2 requests for response. I was unable to reach the ** team today as well. ("Due to high call volume, we are unable to answer your call"...)EMC needs to follow through on requested action items and communicate in a timely manner.

I realized recently that EMC had never reimbursed me for mileage for medical care due to a work comp injury (https://**************/service-providers/attorneys/benefit-rates/benefits-reimbursement-rates). Over the course of this spring, I have made several attempts to contact EMC (my former employer's insurer who processed my WC claim) but have yet to receive a response. I contacted my former adjuster by phone, emailed every office I could find an address for, and have left several messages. The injury occurred near the end of 2020 but my attempts to contact EMC about mileage have all been within the past 12 months.I would like EMC to reimburse me for my mileage for my physical therapy visits and doctor's ************* I have already sent the information to several of their email addresses but will happily forward it again if it'll help get this straightened out. Thank you!

I have reviewed the file and it appears the mileage requested was paid in June 2022.  The check had been issued previously but apparently ************** had moved and the check was not forwarded so we reissued the mileage check.
