We are writing to express our concerns and frustrations about the lack of response from Village West, a timeshare company. We have been attempting to communicate with them to get information on how to get out of our timeshare which we purchased 25 years ago. Unfortunately, we have not received any response from them. We purchased the timeshare with the understanding that it would be a good investment and a great location for snowmobiling. However, our experience at the hotel and pool were not satisfactory. The hotel and pool have become rundown and are not maintained properly. Additionally, Leann, who is legally blind and has had both knees replaced, is not able to handle stairs, making use of the timeshare impossible. We have not been able to use our timeshare due to medical conditions and we are only paying maintenance fees. Despite this, the fees have not been used properly and no upgrades or improvements have been made to the property. We are requesting information on how to sign our timeshare back over to Village West to be released from our financial burden. We hope that you will be able to assist us in this matter and that Village West will respond to our request as soon as possible.

I purchased a timeshare with Village West Resorts and was assured I could easily resell the timeshare when needed. However, this has proven to be far from the truth. Despite numerous attempts to resell my timeshare, it remains unsold. I am stuck with it; if you are reading this, you will be stuck with yours too. Trying to resell the timeshare has been incredibly difficult and frustrating. It is nearly impossible to sell a timeshare at Village West Resorts because they are located in Iowa, which is not a desirable travel destination for most people. Additionally, they do not offer any assistance in helping people resell their timeshares. They simply recommend that you post it on social media or spend money to list it on a resale website – but even when doing so, these listings still remain unsold. In addition to their lack of help in reselling, Village West Resorts has also been unwilling to take back full ownership of the timeshare. This means that customers who purchased the timeshares are still responsible for making payments (even though they cannot get anything from it). Sadly, they do this to people every day, but what can you do? Once you sign on the dotted line with Village West, you are stuck until you are six feet under. It is incredibly disappointing that we have received nothing in return despite having paid thousands for this timeshare. Based on my experiences with them, I would not recommend this company to anyone purchasing a timeshare.
