Im filing a formal complaint against Carriage Crossing Apartments due to their incompetence and blatant run around. I issued my written notice to vacate the premises 30 days in advance. I was provided a written move out instructional email which indicated that I would only be charged a prorated amount of $112.90 and since my account was already set up to automatic payments every month, that amount would be debited from my account. Unfortunately I received the invoice showing I would be charged the total $1750 (the entire months rent), to which I promptly called the office (who would not answer the phone). Ultimately I was also turning in keys that day, so I spoke with the office staff face to face. I explained I received an invoice for the incorrect amount, they told me the *** should have been cancelled (which is not what their move out instructions indicated) and that they didnt see anything on their end, so it would most likely not post to my account and told me to keep an eye on it and let them know. My bank account was debited the entire months rent, which I was not prepared for. This caused my account to overdraft and retain a negative $800 balance. I contacted the property once again after calling three times, leaving a voice mail and an email to which they never replied. When they finally answered they told me that they cancelled the check so my bank should be reversing the transaction. They also asked me for a screenshot of my bank account (even though they never explained why they wanted it.) I called my bank the next day and they informed me that was not the case. I called the property again and was told that as soon as they have a receipt they will send me a copy and that it should post directly to my account. They also informed me they would take care of the *** charge of $30 after I informed them it was their fault my account was in this situation in the first place. I am still waiting for a copy of some "receipt" and resolution.
