11/7/22 I had an appointment to check the battery of my car. I had called Tune Tech the week prior and explained my battery light was on and off for the last 2 weeks or so. ***** suggested it might be the alternator. I said sure, but it may just be the battery as it has been quite a while since I had a new one.He called me on the day of my appt and stated yes, the alternator was not working and I needed a new one and that is was $688 and change. I said that was unfortunate but go ahead and replace it. I picked the vehicle up that evening. Driving it after 3-4 days, I noted the same light was coming back on in the same fashion. Often on either when I started the car or after a minute or so and then would often go off after driving 5+ minutes. I called Tune Tech 11/15 and spoke with ***** again and he told me it could be a bad alternator and to bring it back in. I made an appt for 11/28/2022. I was out of town the week prior and did not drive the vehicle. On 11/28/2022 ***** called and said the alternator and battery were all fine. The coolant level, however was a little low so they topped it off and now the light is off. He said the coolant looks a lot like the battery light and it could have been mistaken for the battery light. I mentioned at the time that it was the same light, so if that was the issue, why did I just pay for a new alternator? When I picked up the car that evening I asked the guy about the light and alternator. He said yep, the light is no longer on and that seemed to be the issue. I asked again about the need for the alternator. He looked at the paperwork and said it was documented there was no output on the alternator. I told him I was perplexed that I drove a car with an alternator that had zero output. He was not able to explain. I spoke with ***** the manager the following day and he insisted I needed a new alternator and that a battery itself could work fine for weeks. I spoke with my trusted mechanic and he said this was not possible.
