On December 12, we took our dog Kodi to WestVet for urgent care. After initial examination , assistant **** *****, came to us with a care plan and said the low estimate for the care plan was $977.09 and high would be $1037.08. We were told to go home and wait as it was in the middle of the night. Shortly after 2am we received a call to go pick up Kodi and told all went well with her procedure. When we went to pay the bill was $1,631.19. We were surprised by this and the front desk person said she would only charge the minimum amount and send our case to billing. On January 3, I received a call from WestVet billing and they said they can remove $232.00 from the bill as the other costs could not be removed. I feel that we only be billed for the max. $1037.08 since no communication or authorization came from us.Initial Complaint

I had a 2 month old teacup ****** the cutest little thing one night all of a sudden I hear screaming from him i go run and get him.he went limp for alittle i started driving him to West vet after hours cause that's the only option he was just squirming on my lap couldn't stop moving around looking uncomfortable He was there less than 2 hours they tell me hes on oxygen doing OK but not too responsive and it might be a neurological problem but they had no idea I stated OK well let's do some tests and they just kept discouraging me saying oh it's gonna be too much money for me as I couldnt afford it which I can I've spent thousands there and wouldn't mind spending more if it saved his life. your pets are just like children and I myself can't have children I wanted to do everything I could to keep him alive I go in just to check on him to tell him mommy is here I see them bringing him to me from a distance Me thinking hes doing OK and then all of a sudden he just starts ****** screaming and blood coming out of his nose and mouth I was crying and overwhelmed and didn't know what to do cause he wouldn't stop and the doctor had a needle in his pocket brings it out and euthanizes him Right in front of me and didn't have a proper goodbye at all Nobody would want to see their children die in that manner.they gave up on him for no reason other than thinking it's too costly but they had no idea what was even wrong with him and only being there for 2 hours did not make sense to me. It was my choice what I wanted to do. If I had to say goodbye why on Earth would I want to take him off oxygen not able to breathe or do anything that makes no sense to me you wanna do it while he is in oxygen talk to him and let him go peacefully but he and I didn't have a choice they took that away from us That image just remains in my head and was very dramatic for me and stayed at home for weeks. I don't want them to do this to others and I have found out that they have many times. :(Initial Complaint

On Sunday the 19 of February 2023, I took my dog into westvet for an emergency issue and it they took my dog to the back right away. After 3 hours of waiting in the lobby they finally got me into a room and I sat there another 2 hours. After I bugged a nurse to find out if my dog was going to be okay or not the doctor was notified and finally came to talk to me. She informed me the it was bad news and my dogs wasnt going to make it.. we ended up doing what was right for the quality of his life and euthanized him for sever heart cancer that would not be able to be treated. We decided that we wanted to cremate him through the service they provided. After we paid our 750$ bill they said they would call us in a few days. Here it is Wednesday the 22 and I get the call at 11AM that his remains were back and ready to be picked up. I got off work at 4pm and drove straight down to the building, as I stood around for 25 minutes with 5 people behind me waiting for help, the receptionist came back and told me that someone else had picked up the remains of my beloved pet. The only thing we could have of him they lost track of. I hope the owner or manager of this building will read this and feel absolutely terrible for the pain they caused by their negligence and disregard.Initial Complaint

Sunday, 6-26-22. Our dog ***** somehow got a deep laceration behind her left shoulder. Normally we could have stitched her up but this was a very big and deep wound. I called our local vet and because it was a Sunday, a recorded message said to call West Vet in Garden City. I called and took her in. (Approx. 33 miles from where we live.) I had her in there between 8 and 9 a.m. They took her back around 9:50 a.m. They said that they would have someone work on her and should be taken care of by 12:00. After 12, I asked how things were going. They said that they gave her some pain meds and she was doing o.k. (Still haven't stitched her up). I sat in the waiting room until 5:30 p.m. I asked how she was, they just said that she was o.k. still haven't attended to her wound. I went home and waited. I called around 8 p.m. they called back and I spoke to the vet. She told me that it could cost anywhere from $1,077.00 to $1,700.00 to stitch her up, and they wouldn't get to her until tomorrow. (Monday) They e-mailed me a consent to operate, etc.. I told them that I would just take her home and take her to our local vet. (They were not happy) We arrived at the clinic around 9 p.m. They put a bandage on her, and gave us some meds. We didn't get out of there with our dog until 11 p.m.! They charged us $602.06. I didn't expect them to not charge us, but $602.06 and she was NOT attended to. The next day we took her to our local vet, they worked her in and within 3 hours she was sewn up and home. $220.00.I am so dis-satisfied with West Vet. I fully understand that there are more serious cases, and they need to be attended to first, but to be there for more than 12 hours and not have anything done is not acceptable. If they were swamped with other cases, they needed to tell us and let us find another vet. I will NOT take any of my pets to this clinic again. My dog's comfort and well being are number one. Then, to be charged so much for basically nothing is too much.
