On May9,2022 I picked up my car from Patterson. They had installed a used motor and another intake manifold. I indicated to them before agreeing to this that I needed transportation and a good running car. The car barely ran at all when I picked it. I continued to work on it for months before it was even useable. I had asked them to correct the problems with the car but they said couldn't because the gas tank needed to be cleaned. I disagreed with that after pulling the fuel line going to the fuel filter and the fuel was clean. They said they could not warranty the fuel pump for that reason even though they could have pulled the pump and looked at the strainer. The continual problems with the running of the car led to transmission problems. The car was only usable for very short trips. If the problems had been corrected , I don't believe the transmission would have failed. I had contacted them last November and asked them to buy the car ,there was not a response. I would like them to purchase the car for $3,000.

04-18-2022    Car towed to Patterson Automotive (will not start)

Mechanic documented mileage at 101, 110.

Mechanic replaced fuses, diagnosed that the motor was locked up.

04-25-2022    Mechanic installed a used motor (with a 30 year warranty), a new fuel pump

(with no warranty) and another intake manifold.  Mechanic told the customer

that the gas tank was rusty and needed to be replaced.  The customer denied work.

04-24-2023    Patterson Automotive received Better Business Bureau complaint.

There was no transmission repair work requested by the customer.  The work performed by Patterson Automotive last year in April 2022, has nothing to do with transmission problems.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The engine had a 30 day warranty not a 30 year warranty. Other than that there is a just a difference of opinion. I just view continuing problems with the engine fluctuations as being a causative factor with the transmission. No I did not ask them to look at the transmission because initially it was shifting fine. It began to shudder as the months passed. The current mileage on the car is 104636. I wasn't able to get much usage out of it . I don't have any supporting documentation. Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    ***** *******

I took my car to them to fix. The engine light was on and the car would shut off. They told me that they did a diagnostic test. He told me I needed a tune up and a battery. He said he replaced all the belts in the car and did an oil change. He had my car for 3 days. When I picked it up, I drove it about 2 - 3 blocks and the car shut off in the turning lane. I had it towed back to him. He told me it was my motor. He should have told me that before I spent $900 for him to fix things that weren't broken. He did not fix the problem. The problem with the car was the same when I picked it up from him as when I dropped it off for him to ix it.

5-17-2022        Car towed to Patterson Automotive (will not start)

Mechanic documented mileage @ 195,457 and noted that the car was over 20,000 miles past due for an oil change.  Mechanic installed a new                           battery, tensioner and belt and changed oil and filter and lubricated the car.  Mechanic test-drove the car.

5-20-2022        The car was picked up and driven away by the customer, ****** *******.  The car stopped shortly thereafter and had to be towed back to                                   Patterson Automotive.  The mechanic discovered that the engine was locked up.  When the mechanic contacted ****** *******, she stated that                           a new engine was replaced by the dealer in February of 2021 and that she gave money to her son to have the oil changed but instead he would                         go to ********'s and spend the money and not have the oil changed.  The mechanic recommended that she have the car towed to the dealer                           who replaced the engine.

06-06-2022      ******* ****** picked up the car from Patterson Automotive.

The work performed by Patterson Automotive had absolutely nothing to do with the engine failure.

I would like this complaint to be reopened.  This is not true.  He gave me the wrong diagnostic.  The same reason I put it in the shop was the same thing it was doing when I picked it up from him.  If it had a diagnostic test, it should had told him originally it was the motor. I want my money back.  He did not fix the problem.  He said it was the belt and not the engine and took my money.  The car failed on me a couple of blocks after picking up the car from him.  I had to pay to get it towed.  This is not how services should be handled.  This is not right.  I have my receipts for oil changes I had.

After the activity outlined in the response, the car was inspected by the dealer who had previously installed the new engine in February 2021.  The dealer is Auffenberg Hyundai, located at **** ******* **** ****** ********* ******** ******

After Auffenberg Hyundai performed various tests and inspections the engine, repair was denied due to maintenance neglect.

The work performed by Patterson Automotive had nothing to do with the engine failure.

I am rejecting this response because:
My cat dealership had anything to do with Danny calling to fix my car with wrong diagnosis on it. He is responsible for taking my money returning back a unfixed cat .
