YOUR COMPLAINT I am a senior citizen and have problem with the AFNI Inc. collection company claiming they work for the Comcast cable communications provider. Comcast cable provided service to my condo in Sunrise FL through the HOA agreement between this company and community, not between ME and them. I moved out that community in January 2021. Now this Afni inc keeps sending me a bill charging $98.84 for breaking of contract with Comcast, which I never had seen or signed. I called several times to Comcast for clarification however due to Covid-19situation no one was available to talk with. And there is no account with my information on the Comcast website. Now this Afni Inc wants me to pay them $98.84, They even reported to my credit report that i have unpaid balance with them. They also calling me two times a day forcing me to put black on these calls. Its is very wrong. Please help.

This collections agency is obviously run by a single individual who answers the phone with the same voice but uses a different name every time. He buys old collection information, or sits on collection information that should already be resolved. This person has called me repeatedly over the years about the same debt item. An old *********** bill from many years ago for about $85. I've paid debt collectors on this before, probably his company. This person calls on previously paid collections and acts like they're unpaid. It's predatory and I'm sure it's fraudulent. They should be in prison if I'm correct and they are guilty.

This company is claiming I owe them 293 for services or goods that I have never received from them. I have written over 4 letters to this company in the past 4 months requesting transaction details where I received goods from them or agreed to pay for any services from them. Not only have they not responded to my multiple requests, but they have also reported this false information to the credit bureaus and it is negatively affecting my credit profile. I have disputed with the Bureaus for months about this, no changes have been made regarding this file. I do not owe this company any money, and they have not proven otherwise. In addition, this company has re-aged the statute of limitations with this debt by 2 years without cause with Transunion, which is a blatant violation of FCRA and FCBA.

This is in response to your BBB inquiry.  Afni appreciates the opportunity to respond to the consumer’s concerns.  On October 29, 2018, Comcast forwarded the subject account, Comcast account #:  ****************, Afni, Inc. account #:  *********-**, with Afni for collections on the balance of $293.80.
The account is for services established on May 1, 2016, until Comcast considered the account delinquent on October 5, 2016.  The service address associated with the account is **** ***** ********** ******* ********* **** ******* ** *****.  Afni mailed the initial notice of the account on November 1, 2018.  On December 30, 2018, Afni furnished the credit reporting agencies with notice of the account.  Afni received three written letters of dispute from the consumer on February 1, 2019, September 23, 2021, and October 11, 2021.  On February 8, 2019, Afni mailed the consumer validation of the debt.  From March 4, 2019 through October 22, 2021, Afni received four disputes from the credit reporting agencies, reviewed all relevant information, and responded appropriately.
On October 25, 2021, Afni received this complaint.  In response, Afni ceased communication and initiated an investigation.  Afni has attached copies of the account billing statements to this response; these are provided as validation of the account. To address the consumer’s concerns, Afni provided the consumer validation of the debt on February 8, 2019. When a consumer submits a dispute through the credit reporting agencies, Afni responds directly to the credit reporting agencies.  With regard to the consumer’s statement that Afni has re-aged the account, Afni has furnished accurate information to the credit reporting agencies at all times.  The credit reporting agencies require Afni to furnish the date Afni received the account as the open date.  However, the age of obsolescence for credit reporting is determined by the date of delinquency furnished to the credit reporting agencies.  When Afni furnished information on the account, it furnished the open date as October 29, 2018.  Therefore, Afni has not re-aged the account.  As previously stated, the date of delinquency on the account is October 5, 2016.  Afni will send a request to the credit reporting agencies to remove the account from the consumer’s credit report.  Please be aware that it can take the credit reporting agencies anywhere from 0 to 60 days to update consumer credit reports.  Afni has no control over how quickly the credit reporting agencies update consumer credit reports.  Afni trusts this response has addressed the consumer’s concerns, but if questions remain, or if they would like to discuss the account, they may contact a Regulatory Specialist at ***** *********

This is the 2nd Subrogation company to contact me on behalf of ******* *********. They claim that my vehicle was in an accident on 2-24-21 resulting in damages totally $1,211.28. When I was initially contacted by recovery partners, I provided them with a bill of sale and explained that I sold the vehicle on 1-16-21 to ***** ******* (phone # ***** ******** of Lewisburg, TN). They sent me a document stating the claim had been updated to reflect that I was no longer listed as the responsible party. I have attached this document. I have also attached a copy of the bill of sale. Now 5 months later, Afni tells me that recovery partners did not communicate this to Farmers. I offer to send Afni the documentation. They stated the bill of sale was insufficient because it is not notarized. Of course Mr. ******* refuses to register the vehicle or have the bill of sale notarized now because he is liable for the accident. Please assist in finding a solution or we can proceed to court.

On October 20, 2021, Afni received this complaint.  In response, Afni ceased communication and initiated an investigation.  To address the claimant’s concerns, this is a tort, or wrongful act.  There were no services provided to Ms. ******* and ******* ********* is pursuing Ms. ******* as she was the owner of the vehicle that struck ******* **********s insured and was found to be responsible for the accident based on the investigation completed by Farmers Insurance.  While investigating the claimants claim, Afni received notification from ******* ********* on October 21, 2021 to remove Ms. ******* from the claim.   Afni trusts that this response has addressed all of Ms. *******’s concerns and will no longer contact them regarding this account.
