1 starI was with them less than a month and they were impossible to work with. Poor communication, hard to get ahold of, website didn't work right, agent didn't return my call. What a mess! All this started because I want more documents that are required to get a passport! A few days after I signed up with them, they sent me a letter in the mail saying my policy was going to be canceled due to lack of documentation. I didn't know what they wanted. When I finally got ahold of someone, they said they had sent an email. I didn't receive it. I think the request should also have been made snail mail and by phone. When I tried to make my final payment online, I was not able to. All I got was a phone number to call to reinstate my coverage. No thanks.I found a better insurance company, that charged me less and has better communication.Thank goodness I found out how hard they are to work with BEFORE I ever needed to file a claim. My advice is steer clear of this company. Their communication is terrible.Review fromSara M

1 starI canceled a six month policy and the money was still taken out of my account. When I called, eight days later, they said that a check was being processed and that I should have it in about 10 days In the year on 2025 I shouldnt have to wait for a check in the mail to get money back for a service not rendered, especially when they can instantly take the money out for the companys sake. They couldnt even give me the number for the facility that deals with the check writing for me to stay in touch with MY money.Review fromBrandi R

1 starDirect Auto Insurance is a Lie, the company charged me for cancellation of my insurance policy because its NC state rule if a client doesnt cancel their policy on the same day no refund in fact charged $361 for canceling their policy before the 30 day grace *********** do nothing about it because it will show on my Credit Report. 1 starCriminals. They've always been criminals. They originally ran businesses in ******* and said they were taking taxes out on the employees and they didn't which made my entire life h*** as a child because my father was one of the ones they screwed over and the *** didn't care if he was lied to. Fast forward to today where we have to use their insurance because there's nothing else available to make us legal that won't bankrupt us. We fully know they will never pay out anything so we don't have any expectations to ever use the insurance, only to be road legal. And they still figure out ways for their computer systems to kick you out after you have confirmation through emails that they can read saying that your policy is going to renew and it automatically comes out and gives you the date and it never comes out and the day of you get the email saying they've canceled it so they can charge you reinstatement fees after they already went up $300 this year in fees, not just insurance cost. The customer service agents lie to you and tell you everything is okay and you go into the office and they lie to you and they tell you everything's okay and it's like they go back in their system the second you get off the phone with them in the second you leave the office and they make sure your policy will have some kind of issue that will charge you extra money. It has been every single month this year they've done something and a few of the months last year they've done something where they get extra fees and extra money for stuff that's their problem on their end and then they lie to you some more when you bring it up. If you can afford real insurance anywhere else, take your business elsewhere. In this economy, I'm at the end of my life. Don't let them ruin yours before it's too late.Review fromCarlito B

1 starThey just told me today that they are denying my claim for the reason of. Direct auto insurance has not been able to make contact with their insured client which they then said is a BREACH OF CONTRACT leading to them denying my claim. Their client that I was in a car accident with rear ended me in dead stopped traffic. He admitted to being entirely at fault and it is even stated as such in the police report. 1 starHorrible company to deal with!!! While the customer service people do their best to assist, the policies and procedures are useless. I cancelled my policy and received confirmation of cancellation BUT they continued to deduct funds from my bank account, twice! I called and was told that my account was still active and I had to show proof it was cancelled. The first time took 3 weeks to get the refund, and it happened again yesterday. When I asked the *** how is this possible, her response was that it happens all the time. What?!?! Meanwhile, Im left without funds for weeks.Review fromKelly T

This insurance company is a joke! They never answer your calls and then it takes forever for them to respond if you leave a VM. They are very unprofessional!!!! Im a new customer and they do not want to fix my car that I have Full Coverage on Trying to deny my claim because a deer struck my car not long after having the policy I reported my claim on time sent photos and then they tell me they had to review everything and let me know if they would cover the cost but did allow me to get a rental since it is paid on my policy ? After the adjuster finally lets me know its totaled on a Thursday they have to decide if my policy was covered during the accident So they decide to leave me a voicemail on the following Monday letting me know Im denied ??????. Reported accident 1/28 they are just now telling me 2/17 that Im denied but WHY? No explanation or proof as to why they wont fix my car repairsDirect Auto Insurance Company

This is one of the most unprofessional and incompetent companies I have ever seen. My son applied for insurance because he saw that Direct Auto offered ride share insurance. He applied innFe ember 2024 to insure a 2023 vehicle. The auto was financed so minimum coverages were required. He filled out the Finance companys name and address. And noted that he needed full coverage. From the time he completed the on-line request to Direct Auto receiving it, all of the information disappeared. They provided minimal liability with no collision or comprehensive on a one-year old financed vehicle. They made no effort to contact him to see why he would not want full coverage on a one-year old car. They issue a policy with minimal liability and nothing else. They charged him $246/month for this policy which when received showed ride share insurance which would include full coverage making my son think that he had it. In the meantime, he gets in an accident that is not his fault with damage greater than $8k. Directly Auto refuses to fix the car because they dont show collision. When he mentions that he has ride share insurance, they tell him they dont sell ride share insurance, yet its on his policy. They then raise his rate to $313/month and remove the ride share portion of the policy, meaning they are not going to pay to fix the car. The other driver insists he was not at fault and the police report shows that liability could not be determined. Now you have no one accepting liability and my son is stuck with the repairs which would force him into bankruptcy. Ive never seen anything like this. Any reputable insurance companys first question would be if the car is leased or financed. So they are blaming my son for not verifying the policy. They could go back and remove the ride share portion of the policy but not add collision coverage. So they are saying that liability is on my son for not reviewing the policy while they issued a policy not legal on a car thats financed.Direct Auto Insurance Company
