      Subject: Identity Theft Complaint - Unauthorized Account with ********************** CU Dear BBB,I am writing to formally file a complaint against Alliant Credit Union (Alliant CU) regarding an unauthorized account that was fraudulently opened in my name. The details of the account are as follows:Account Number: ****************Opened On: 03/26/2018 I am a victim of identity theft and did not authorize the opening of this account. I have filed complaints with the ************************* CFPB, and IdentityTheft.gov. Copies of these complaints are enclosed for your reference.This fraudulent account has significantly impacted my credit score and caused undue stress. I kindly request Alliant CU to investigate this matter and remove the unauthorized account from my ********************** report immediately.Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious issue.

      I disputed a charge on my card to fraud and they decided to reverse the credit with no explanation. I contacted this merchant several times to see what the issue was and no response until today the rep stated they sent me information about and they did not. Also the beginning of this year I had a decent credit card balance. I no longer have due to Alliant stating their were no funds in the account when in face their was they send nsf paper to my home with an ending balance of funds but were rejecting my credit card payments which makes no sense I called for this issue as well and they just stated well sorry about that must just have been bad timing so due to my card being closed my credit dropped 89 points so thanks for that!

      Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We are happy to research and respond to your complaint dated July 14, 2024.

      Our records show that you reported a non-fraud dispute claim on April 28, 2024 for a $200.00 transaction that took place with StrechZone.  On April 29, 2024, the provisional credit was applied to your Alliant checking account while your dispute was being investigated.  During the investigation, Alliant requested additional information and supporting documentation from you to support your dispute claim but was not provided.  As a result, Alliant reversed the provisional credit on your checking account and closed your dispute claim on May 24,2024.  Notice was sent to you by mail. 

      Our records show that you last inquired about the denied dispute claim on July 13, 2024 and were provided with the email address to send your supporting documentation to reopen the dispute claim. As of the date of this response, Alliant has not received any supporting documentation from you.  To reopen your dispute claim, please send your supporting documentation to ***************************************.

      In review of your account, we found non-sufficient funds (NSF) activity took place on your Alliant Checking Account on May 14, 2024 and May 17, 2024 that was caused by withdrawal attempts made by *********** for $143.99.  Our records show you had other pending transactions on your account on May 14, 2024 and May 17, 2024, which made funds unavailable.  Alliant made no error with returning each of the *********** transactions, as funds were not available in your Alliant Checking account when these payments were presented.

      On May 14, 2024, the following transactions were pending causing your available balance to be $131.42

      5/13/24 $50.51 IHOP
      5/13/24 $106.61 AMAZON.COM
      5/13/24 $39.40 DOMINOS

      On May 17, 2024, the following transaction was pending causing your available balance to be $72.76.

      5/15/24 $101.24 AMZN MKTP US

      Alliant is unable to assist with anything that might result from the closure of an account at another financial institution. While there is no option for Alliant to provide a replacement credit card in this matter, you may choose to apply for an Alliant credit card at any time.

      I am rejecting this response because: did you or did you not send an NSF  paper to my home with ending balance well over  the amount needed To process said pending payments that were processed when I called and spoke to an account specialist I got told well its unfortunate but it just looks like bad timing so I paid the price of your BAD TIMING. When I get home I will send those same papers that was sent to my home so how is it not your fault ? Make it make some kind of sense !! And that $200 charge I submitted that screenshot 3 times do you need that screenshots to with dates and times attached ? I have not one problem  sending those as well . I honestly am just trying to figure out how this is any kind of fair not only is my credit card closed due to your negligence to my account or excuse me your bad timing. But Im out of $200 as well since you didnt get any information I know that was sent l.

      Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We are happy to research and respond to your complaint dated July 22, 2024.

      Alliant mailed non-sufficient funds (***) notices on May 14, 2024 and May 17, 2024 after the *********** ACH transactions (each for $143.99) were returned unpaid.  As mentioned, Alliant accurately returned these *********** transactions unpaid, as the funds were not available on May 14, 2024 and May 17, 2024 due to having other pending transactions on your checking account. We apologize for any confusion you have experienced with the *** communications you received.  Your feedback has been shared with the appropriate management.

      As of the date of this response, Alliant has not received any supporting documentation to reopen your closed non-fraud dispute with StretchZone.  Alliant has previously requested the following from you:

      -A detailed description of the service or merchandise.
      -The date when you were expecting to receive the service/merchandise, prior to cancel it.
      -The date when you cancelled the service or merchandise.
      -If Merchant refused to provide authorization to return the Merchandise, please provide information regarding disposition of the merchandise (location of the purchased merchandise at the moment of the dispute).

      As previously mentioned, please send your supporting documentation to grp-*********************************** to reopen your non-fraud dispute.

      ****. CSR REPRESENTATIVE was called regarding my account with ********************** CU. I only asked to unlock my account. A call that was ONLY supposed to last 6 minutes turned into 16 because ****, seemed to be distracted by another co-worker during the call. My checking account is important to me and my family depends on it. It's also private, & what I discuss regarding my account should be heard clearly by the ALLIANT CU CSR. I am writing the BBB to argue my dissatisfaction with the call today. If this person could be replaced at ALLIANT CU, it would be a huge service for future customers. Please review the conversation and determine that **** was clearly interacting with others while otp during my call to the bank. I am upset about this and ask for an internal investigation by the BBB.Thank You for your time.TLM

      I got approved a loan with Alliant for a Tesla. They failed to send the fund in time for my delivery day whoch causes one week delay for me. I decided just pay cash for the Tesla because even though Alliant said they already wired the money but ***** still have received the fund yet. Finally 1 week after i took delivery ***** received the fund from Alliant. I contacted Alliant so they can get in contact with ***** to get the refund for the loan but Alliant refused to do anything about and said i have to get with ***** for the refund money. I didnt sent ***** the money how can i contact them for the refund??? But i finally get with ***** and they said they already sent the refund check and Alliant should get it after one week. 2 weeks later i called Alliant and they said they dont know anything about the refund check. I thi k Alliant just want to dragging the process longer so they can charge me the interest on the loan which i didnt even used. Never again i will deal with Alliant and i will definitely will not recommend Alliant Credit Union to anyone i know. Alliant credit union, you sucks!

      Our records show a loan account was opened with ************************* as the primary owner and you as the joint owner.  In our research, we confirmed that both of you signed and agreed to the Retail Installment Contract.  Alliant has no record of receiving a request for a copy of your Retail Installment Contract. You may contact Alliant by phone to request a copy and we will be happy to provide it to you.
       
      Alliant previously investigated and responded to the credit bureau disputes you reported in 2024.  The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires data furnishers, like Alliant, to report complete and accurate information to the national consumer reporting agencies.  We are unable to remove the loan account from your ********************** report, as the account is being accurately reported.

      Alliant FCU defamed me. They have reported me to Checksystems for "account abuse" without cause. This is defamatory and untrue. Further they have reported an unpaid balance of $20 which is also wrong. I am prepared to contact the **** CFPB, **** and state AG office. I will also reach out to an attorney if this is not fixed with in 7 business days.

      nope you obviously dont do any f****** due dilligence and now because of you rotten money hungry a******* i have to spend thousands to get a new ssn etc. You need to cover all costs for my new ssn or a 1 time payment of $27000 to adequately address the money I'll have to pay attorneys and such because you let this illegal a****** open an account with ZERO VERIFICATION.

      On November 14, 2023, I (************************** III) was involved in a not at fault auto accident. Allstate insurance company handled the insurance claim. Allstate made the decision to total out the vehicle. The total amount left on the loan was $20,317.53 which was carried by Alliant Credit union. Wise F&I was the carrier of the gap insurance. Allstate determined that the vehicle was worth $17,699.00. After a few deduction, Allstate gave a pay out $16,975.97 to Alliant Credit union which left a balance of $3,341.56, but the credit union is claiming an outstanding balance over $4,000.00. Paperwork was filed with Wise F&I ************* on several different dates (February 28, 2024, March 6, 2024 & March 28, 2024). Alliant Credit refuse to deal with gap insurance to resolve the claim. Alliant Credit union has reported to the credit bureau of non payment, which caused my credit score to drop.

      The ************* paperwork has Alliant listed as the lean holder so your company is aware of the ************* agreement, plus the ************* was pad through the auto loan (Alliant). As listed in the complaint, on three separate occasions the Gap requested paperwork was sent to Wise F&I. The deadline clam/excuse is false. Also when Wise F&I attempted a three way call with Alliant, Wise F&I and myself. Alliant refused to be on the call. You are a predatory company that is refusing to make good on its agreement.
