Someone stole/used my PII to open an Alliant Credit Union checking and savings account (account number ********* on May 21, 2024. I happened to be traveling for business at the time and did not see the mail with the welcome account notification from Alliant, as well as the mail that included the pin number, and the debit card mail that I received. Upon returning home on June 8th, I immediately called Alliant customer service and asked to be connected with their fraud department so I could file a report, I was told that was not possible and that the customer service agent would relay my information to the fraud department. I called back the following Monday, June 9th and asked again if I could speak to someone from the fraud department and was told that someone from the fraud department would call me within two or three days. And as of today, I have not heard back from anyone from Alliant's fraud unit. Both customer service agents I originally spoke with did confirm that the checking and savings accounts were closed on 5/28/24, which was confirmed by the statement of account that I received in the mail. However, $635.40 was deposited into the checking account on 5/23/24 and withdrawn on 5/28/24 and the account was then closed on the same day as the withdrawal. To reiterate, I did not open this account, nor did I deposit or withdraw funds from this account. And to my knowledge, Alliant Credit Union has not investigated or reported back to me their findings.Business response

Im so frustrated!!! I use to have a checking account , savings ******* loan with alliant. I ended up closing the accounts but they were in good standing! Ive tried to return back to alliant and every time I try to apply online it gives me an error After I enter my info no matter what device or browser I use! Im not sure if Im flagged in the system or something but this is ridiculous!Business response

I am rejecting this response because:that makes no sense! I had an account with you guys in standing in 2020-2021. Youre telling me I cant submit an application because I was denied two years ago?! That makes absolutely no sense. Things could have changed these last two years. Thats the dumbest thing Ive heard a bank say.

I have a HELOC with Alliant Credit Union. I have maintained continuous insurance coverage on my home as required yet out of nowhere, I received a letter from Alliant stating that they were going to purchase insurance on my property at my expense. I responded informing them that I had insurance. I told them the name of the insurer, the policy number and told them not to purchase insurance on my behalf. Despite my written instruction, they went ahead and took money from my account and purchased an additional insurance policy. I sent them another message reitterating that I carry all the required insurance and that they need to cancel the policy and refund the money. They have not responded. When I have tried to send follow up messages, their website returns an error message saying that the message cannot be sent. I reached out to my insurance company giving consent for them to share policy details with Alliant. I am attaching my insurance policy jacket so that the BBB can show Alliant Credit Union proof of my insurance, but Alliant does not seem interested in that. It appears to me they created a pretense to take money from my account then charge interest on the money they take so they can maximize their profits.Business response

On November 14, 2023, my father was involved in a not at fault auto accident. Allstate insurance company handled the insurance claim. Allstate made the decision to total out the vehicle. The total amount left on the loan was $20,317.53 which was carried by Alliant Credit union. Wise F&I was the carrier of the gap insurance. Allstate determined that the vehicle was worth $17,699.00. After a few deduction, Allstate gave paid out $16,975.97 to Alliant Credit union which left a balance of $3,341.56, but the credit union is claim an outstanding balance over $4,000.00. Paperwork was filed with Wise F&I ************* on several different dates (February 28, 2024, March 6, 2024 & March 28, 2024). Alliant Credit refuse to deal with gap insurance to resolve the claim. Alliant Credit union has reported to the credit bureau which caused my fathers (************************* III) credit score to drop.Business response

My loan payment due June 1st was for the amount of $129.17. Alliant CU debited the amount of $1,000.00. I called the Credit Union June 3 and asked for my $870.00 to be credited to my account at the institution where the funds were taken. I called three different times; June 3, June 5, June 7 and each time was a different representative. I was informed the funds were applied to the principal balance on the loan, which I did not authorize. My third time with one of the representatives pretty much solidified the fact, they had no intention of returning the funds, which they actually stole. I was given one crazy explanation after another and after close to ninety minutes on the phone (during my third attempt) waiting for a resolution, I gave up. Our records show that you previously submitted an ACH Authorization form on October 5, 2022, authorizing monthly payments in the amount of $1,000.00 from your other institution account to pay your Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), which started on November 1, 2022. After making a HELOC advance on April 30, 2024, your $1,000.00 automatic payments resumed according to your monthly due date.
Alliant is unable to send the difference of $870.83 to your other institution account;however, to find resolution in this matter, Alliant has credited the $870.83 to your Alliant savings account on June 10, 2024.
Our records show that you submitted a new ACH Authorization form on June 7,2024 authorizing monthly HELOC payments for $253.18. The monthly payments for $253.18 will begin on July 1, 2024.

Our records show Online Banking access was locked due to having too many failed login attempts. Our records show that you spoke to Alliant on May 29, 2024 while Online Banking access was locked out. In this call,Alliant recommended resetting Online Banking access and requested to have the primary account owner call us for assistance. Alliant has previously explained that you are the joint owner on the account and are not authorized to reset Online Banking access. To assist with resetting Online Banking access, Alliant must speak with the primary owner.
Our records show loan payments have been consistently received through a bill pay service used by another financial institution. As the joint owner, you may request to make a check payment by phone and/or request a payoff at any time. A loan payoff was provided to you on June 4,2024.

I have identified an inaccuracy in the documentation of a delayed payment in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Please understand the statement included from your Frontier account (dated August 2023) has no relation to any of your Alliant accounts.
Our records show that a late payment was reported to the credit bureau on your Alliant credit card in September 2022. The credit card statement issued on July 14, 2022; shows you had a minimum payment of $168.00 due on August 8, 2022. Alliant only received a payment of $84.00 on August 8, 2022.
The credit card statement issued on August 14, 2022, shows you had a minimum payment of $167.00 due on September 8, 2022, which included the past due balance unpaid from your August 8, 2022 due date. No payment was received on or by your September 8, 2022 due date causing your credit card account to become 30+ days delinquent and was reported to the credit bureau accordingly. Alliants ********************** spoke with you on September 20, 2022 and you were aware your credit card account was delinquent. Alliant received a payment of $167.00 on September 21, 2022.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act requires data furnishers, like Alliant, to report complete and accurate information to the national consumer reporting agencies. We are unable to remove the late payment from your credit report, as the credit card account is being accurately reported.
