On September 29, 2023 my fianc and I walked into the Family Dollar not even a half of a mile from out house to go get a few things, like we always do at least 4-6 times per week. We usually have our 2 younger kids with us when we go but this time they had just left to go spend the weekend with their "******", their Grandma, my mom. Since walking out the doors of that store I am extremely grateful that they were not with us. We couldn't put our finger on it, but we did notice something right away after walking in that store. Usually when we go into that store the whole environment of the store is upbeat & fun, if that makes sense. Now when we walked in it just made us want to turn around and walk right out the front door. After walking around for a few minutes, trying to decide on what we should get since we were on a major budget, we noticed that a plain clothed young man kept following us around and watching our every move, He didn't even try to hide the fact that he was trying to watch us. That was the first time EVER that anyone in that store had watched us like that. That alone was enough to offend us a little, seeing as how we had NEVER stolen anything from that store in our 3 years of living there. We decided to wrap up our shopping but had realized we forgot to get a 2 liter so we left our kart by the beginning of the second isle, where that same young man was that was literally breaking his neck to watch what we were doing. While we were towards the back of the store, I had my fianc reach into my purse and fetch me my wallet since I didn't want to have to search for it while we were up at the register, he picked us out of the whole bunch of people that were in there because we were white, I have no doubt about that and like I said had offended us A LOT making us feel like we were stealing when we definitely weren't. This guy wasn't even in a uniform or anything.
