On 2/3/23 I requested to have my CareerBuilder account deleted. However, I am still getting emails from recruiters from the CareerBuilder website. It has been over a year, and I don't understand how I am still able to log into an account that should have been deleted for over a year ago. Since this issue has not been resolved and I can't seem to get in contact with anyone from career builder, this is my last resort. I am asking for the second and hopefully the last time. That you delete my CareerBuilder account ASAP.Business response

The CareerBuilder site is a scam and trap to sell job seeker information. Job seekers can not delete resumes posted by them on their own. They can not delete their account on their. The request for those deletions will never work due to the intended email confirmation trap they built into the request process because those confirmation emails were never and will never be sent to complete the requests.Customer response

Upon being laid off on 02/09/24, I uploaded my resume into the www.Careerbuilder.com job website in hopes of being recognized by employers and recruiters to gain employment. Soon after updating my personal information and uploading a new resume, I started receiving emails and telephone calls from people with thick accents (from ***** possibly) claiming to be recruiters. I fell for this at first but started to become very suspicious after being offered a position so easily and receiving links to click on along with requests to share personal information. This is when I realized that this site had been taken over by scammers. I tried to go back into CareerBuilder to delete my information and remove my resume but was unable to do so. It brought me to a page to request the deletion of my information, but i never received a response and my information is still on this site. I continue to receive scam calls and emails (from ***** possibly) claiming to be recruiters and now I have been notified by my identity theft account that my email address is compromised and on the dark web. This was a valid company at one time. I want my information removed from this site. I would also like to warn others, so they don't give this company access to their information. They are all scammers, how awful to prey on people who are trying to find employment. I plan on filing a complaint with the *** for every scam recruiter who continues to contact me.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: The link you sent to me is a non-working link (SEE BELOW). Also, I have submitted the "Delete my account form" that you specified in your response. I have submitted this form several times and nothing has been done. You can obviously see my account so should have the ability to delete my resume and account at my request right now. Why aren't you doing that? Once again, the request to "delete my account form" on your site does not work. This will become a legal issue if you do not delete my resume and other information from your site. You have not protected my information. I can see all of the complaints against you, so I know that I am not the only person affected.NON-WORKING LINK BELOW:

I am rejecting this response because I would like confirmation that my account and resume have been removed from your website. I have followed your instructions and have completed the form AGAIN as you have instructed. Once I see that my resume has been removed and my personal data has been deleted, I will accept your response.FYI, I don't know of any other job sites that prompts jobseekers to upload a resume that you cannot delete, remove, or replace. I would have never uploaded it had I known this. This is a huge privacy issue, aside from the fact that you allowed scammers to pose as recruiters in order to gain access to my personal resume and other personal information.

I received an email from Career Builder and a phone call from a recruiter who had seen my resume on Career Builder, but I had never used the site. I decided today to look into it, and I apparently do have an account, under an email address I never use for job applications, and using a resume I haven't used since 2018. I do not know how this company obtained my information or from where, but I don't appreciate having an account created in my name with my real phone number being provided to recruiters for jobs I am no longer interested in.I have requested that the website delete all of my information, so we will see what happens.Business response

I have been reaching out via email and calls regarding a request to remove ALL of my data from your systems. I do not have an account with you. Again, I DO NOT have an account with you. I DO NOT have an account. I am also not connected to any of your "social aggregators." I have 6 case number tickets regarding this. And no one is able to help. The response I keep getting is that I need to unsubscribe or they can't find an email address. I never offered an email address since I do not have an account wit you guys. So what email address are you checking for a non-existing account? I have recruiters calling me and telling me they found me on your website. I do not want calls from them. I do not want my data in your database. I made this request a few years ago, and now again 6 case tickets later and a number of calls to your reps. *** we finally get this fixed? What information do you need from me to resolve this?Business response

Hello Inna,
We've double checked our back-office system and there is no record of ****************** as such, there is no resume data on our website under that email. If there is another email address to which you are receiving communications, you can input it on the data deletion form of our website: ********************************************************************************************************************
Keep in mind, if your information was retrieved by an employer and saved locally while your profile was active, we are?not?able to delete that information from their systems. You will need to contact these companies directly with your request to be removed from their systems and to stop contacting you. Also, it would help to aid in our security initiatives if you could send us some email examples with the email headers from any recruiters/ employers that have reached out to you, claiming to have found your info on our site.
At times, it also happens that a company may represent themselves as a customer of ********************** while they are in no way affiliated. They do this because we have millions of users and attempt to use the brand to legitimize their contacts. We make every effort to shut them down with our privacy and security vendors. This complaint has to do with data breach/privacy breach and the unwillingness of Career Builder to resolve the issue.I have been receiving emails, by now probably hundreds of emails, from both Career Builder and affiliates which are addressed to a "***************************". I did not create an account with them, so I assume that somehow my email address has erroneously been associated with ******************** account.A while ago I was able to log into her account using my email address, and it had her personal information like where she lives and her phone number. I reported this to Career Builder support and asked them to delete the account or delete my email. Since this time they have disabled access to their website from IP addresses in ******* (which is where I live) so I can no longer log in. They are no longer responding to my requests to delete my contact info (which I did not provide them). I continue to receive emails from Career Builder and affiliate sites, addressed to ***** . I do not know how to get them to address this. When I was still able to log in, I took screenshots so I still have *****'s contact info. I won't share this unless explicitly requested. I also have emails that I've sent to Career Builder, and I still have some emails from the affiliates as well, though many have been deleted and marked as spam.Business response

I posted my resume on CareerBuilder.com and selected the option that prevented recruiters from seeing the resume. ( I only wanted it there to quick add if I wanted to apply for a position posted.) Within a week, my resume had been given to recruiters and I am recieving between 5 and THIRTY phone calls a day. Each call is accompanied by a text and an email. Almost every company is not US based (appear to be in *****?), jobs are not anything related to my resume information besides my general field. The phone numbers the recruiters are calling from sometimes show up as various US numbers, personal phone numbers, or even other businesses. Recruiters claim to be with a company, but one told me he was calling me for the compant but independently, and he could remove me from HIS call list, but its not connected to the company. This is harassment I didnt agree to, and didnt consent to resume (with my personal info on it) essentially being made public.Business response

Hello ***,
We have verified that your job seeker account for ****************** was created on 3/2/2024 and confirmed the profile is set to private now, however, our back office system shows resume events (activity) as recent as March 19th. Note, your rerume profile seems to have been made private on that date.
Employers can download profile information up until that point, which means employers likely have local copies of your resume.
See attached screenshot for reference of your profile setting.
If your information was retrieved by an employer and saved locally while your profile was active (public), we are?not?able to delete that information from their systems. You will need to contact these companies directly with your request to be removed from their systems and to stop contacting you.

I am rejecting this response because:There was not transparency upon opening a profile that my resume would be shared with recruiters, nor that the option was available tp de-select this. I went "private" with my prifule after having to ****** search why these calls were happening and how to make them stop. I only found the opt out instructions via a ****** search from instructions from an oitside site. It should be an opt in, not an opt out, to have your personal information shared with fly-by-night agencies worldwide and be subhected to harassment from recruiters

Hello ***,
There is no option to 'deselect' the terms because the terms state that users accept the linked Terms & Conditions upon account creation. Our logs show that your profile was moved to private on March 19th which aligns with employer resume view activity ending on March 19th.
