I honestly just need to share this to hopefully help someone avoid making the same mistakes I did. My floor literally makes me sad every time I look at it. So, here goes: First off, I went through Empire – biggest mistake. I opted for L.W. Mountain luxury vinyl planks, and I have to say, at first, they looked amazing. This was exactly two years ago this week. But less than a year in, I started noticing gapping between the planks, and eventually, some of them began lifting and chipping. Now, it looks terrible. I even had to tape one plank down to prevent anyone from cutting their feet on the chipped edges. Mistake #2: I waited too long to call. The installation warranty was good for 12 months, and I didn’t reach out until around month 18 – that’s on me. However, the planks themselves have a lifetime warranty, so I contacted both Empire and L.W. Mountain for help. Empire came out, charged me around $200 for the visit, and said the issue was due to a dishwasher leak… on the other side of the room. They offered to fix it for $3,500. I had a second opinion, and there is no dishwasher leak. I also had someone else confirm there’s no way a leak could cause the gapping and chipping in the other areas. Empire insists it’s the non-existent leak, and I’m stuck paying $3,500 if I want it fixed. This is after I already spent around $14,000 on the floor back in October 2022. I also reached out to L.W. Mountain since the planks are covered under a lifetime warranty, but they just sent me back to Empire. Now both companies are ignoring my emails, and I’m left with a floor that’s lifting, gapping, and chipping. Now I see these reviews and it seems common the warranty is never honored. It’s just so disappointing, especially after spending so much. I guess it is what it is, but I’m sharing this in hopes someone can avoid the same sad, frustrating experience.

Had a claim on their product, they did NOT stand behind their floor and the independent inspector completely lied on questions about how the floor was handled and conditioned. Company only responded by email could, never could talk to anyone, tried explaining inspections was botched, they didn't care. Never will sell this product again or install. ******** customer service.

The floor is a piece of junk wasted our money on floor, and warranty .Now we are stuck with a piece of junk floor that is covered by a warranty that is not worth the paper it is printed on.

We had LW Mountain Floors installed June 2014. Within the first year we had concerns and shared with installer. From there, they have continued to get worse. They look terrible. LW Mountain sent a certified flooring inspector in 2020. While in my home the inspector verbally shared with me that he believed we had a valid claim - the finish peeling. He shared with me our humidity levels were within acceptable ranges. Months later, when LW Mountain/********** sent the report they WOULD NOT HONOR the warranty stating humidity levels weren't in range and that somehow I have cleaned the floors improperly?! I followed installers instructions on cleaning. When I requested the report be re-sent to me, they haven't. When I questioned the report because it contradicted what the inspector told me, LW Mtn/*** said he (inspector) isn't our employee and doesn't represent us. Well, why then did you send him to our home to determine the validity of our claim?! The floor finish is peeling, it looks terrible. We are EXTREMELY unhappy with this product and it cost a lot of money. They do not respond to my emails, calls or messages on social media.

    1. In the flooring industry, Certified Independent Inspectors are used to inspect claims. By using 3rd party inspectors, there is no bias.2. Since they are Certified Independent, we have no control over the length of time it takes to get a report after an inspection.3. The report states the Identification of Cause: Improper maintenance practices.4. If the installer recommended something different than the manufacturer recommends, he gave wrong advise. The installer does not represent the manufacturer. 5. The homeowner saying the inspector said something is called Hearsay. The written report is the legal decision.6. The report was originally emailed to the same email she is still using. She has access to that email anytime she wants.7. ****************** has been informed several times that the decision is final. She must accept that she damaged the floor by improper maintenance. 8. ****************** has threatened us with a lawsuit and that she would not go away in her multitude of correspondences. This borders on legal harassment.
