FTC, Illinois Take Action Against Leader Automotive Group for Overcharging and Deceiving Consumers Through Add-Ons, Junk Fees, Bogus Reviews
The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.
On December 19, 2024, Leader Automotive Group entered a Stipulated Order for Permanent Injunction, Monetary Relief, and Other Relief with the Federal Trade Commission and the State of Illinois. This settles allegations that the business systematically defrauded consumers looking to buy vehicles. Under the terms of the order, the business will be required to pay $20 million, to make clear disclosures of a car’s offering price – the actual price any consumer can pay to get the car, excluding only required government charges – and get consent from buyers for any charges.
