1 starOur gas service was shut off to a ground floor retail store with regular hours. We called to have our service reconnected and was scheduled with a 4 hour window for a technician to come and reconnect service. Their technician claims to have arrived but our salespeople never saw him come in, neither did our security cameras. He claims he called but left no messages. Hours later I noticed a text message and then combed my missed call history to find a random number (that could have easily been mistaken for spam). I called this number back and the guy was super defensive saying he did his job. WTF? How is that doing your job? It's not a residential location where someone needs to let him in. It's literally a store with regular hours. When I made the service appointment, I was very clear that it's a retail store and not a locked residential home. So unprofessional, said he called and waited for 15 minutes yet there was no voicemail or text saying he was there. Nicor Gas thinks because they are a monopoly that they can just shrug off their work! So unprofessional.Review fromTrinidad J

1 starToday, I found out that one of our property does not have gas tuned on this cold weather at 15 degree. The thermostat reads 66 degree. I was not sure why the furnace was not on. So, I called to Nicor emergency line to get immediate assistance due to customer service is not open. I found out that the Nicor gas was never transferred to my name. Requested for immediate service to have gas turn on to prevent freezing the pipe lines because the next following days will be in the negatives. Rep on the line, ***** was unpleasant to deal with, she did not care and state that this is not an emergency status and refuses to dispatch someone to have gas turned on. I've pleaded to get assistance because of the weather is getting colder. She suggest to call back on Tuesday when customer care is working. I had requested to speak to a manager and was told that they will get back to me in 24 to 48 hrs. I wished that there is a solution to get the immediate response to turn on the service. Also, asked to see if she was able to have someone from customer care department to set up the account and get the gas turned on. The response was no. It had been frustrating and upsetting to see how Nicor does not care if we are left in the cold weather with no heat and possible pipe damages to the property. Called once again another rep answered, I believe her name is *******? I told her what is going on and she apologized but said it is not consider an emergency. I've questioned her that Nicor doesn't care if people are left in the cold? She responded YES. How awful is this to know such corporation providing the essential services for us citizens to not care for our lives. She said that this is not consider emergency. I am truly disappointed that no one cares to take care emergency situation like this. LEAVING US IN THE COLD ON SATURDAY UNTIL THE NEXT FOLLOWING WORKING DAY ON TUESDAY!Review fromVictor G

1 starNicor hired K and S engineering to change piping and an outside meter. There is a leak right after the meter, and Nicor does not feel responsible for it. I would have never noticed the leak if it wasnt for me installing holiday lights outside. I have been paying for this leak for over 8 months without my knowledge.Review fromRichard K

1 starI was contacted by Nicor, they wanted to move the gas meter in the basement to outside the house. A appointment was made to have it done. On the day they were suppose to come do the job "They didn't show up" no phone calls, no messages, no letter nothing! I rearranged my schedule to accommodate Nicor so they could do the work they wanted done. I know one thing for sure, they will show up to turn off your gas if you don't pay your bill.Review fromGlenn K

1 starI wish there was a rating of NO STARS. Seniors BEWARE. Nicor has a very unique confusing system as far as billing and expects all to figure it out. According to their website in my billing history for the first 5 months of 2023 my *************** we *****. Now I show a bill for $1100.67. The explanation was they agreed with me that is what the billing history shows but I need to look at a different part of the bill. This all stems from Nicor using credits of over $2500 I had from my home budget bill from the house that I moved from. They said that they would use the credits for my future bills in my new townhome until they ran out. Their explanation is they ran out in December of 2022 and of course nobody notified me. Now being a Senoir on a fixed budget I am told I owe $1100.67 (which I paid). Their first CS Rep just hung up on me because they had no explanation. The second CS Rep was very helpful and fully agreed with me on how confusing and deceitful their billing system is. Also hard for me to believe they wait until you are 6 months late without paying your bill which you did not know about before they asked for their money. Be careful and if you are going to use their MY NICOR SYSTEM make sure you hire yourself an Accountant if you do. Good Luck Nicor and remember ***** is not good.Review fromRebecca E

1 starI received a bill somtimes last year where my bill went for 150 to a bill of ****, we called and nicor said we had estimated bills and they could not read the meter durring covid because the meter was in our basment, our payments where on auto pay so we where not aware. For two years are bills where estimated bills and we recieved a bill from the last two years combined of what the monthly bill should have been, we explained how it was not our fault our meter was in the basment and was not aware, they did nothing. I have been making 100 dollar payments a week and today they shut off our gas. After we received the **** bill our bill also went up to 450 a month we live in a **** sqft house we asked why ,still no answers. They had us move our Metter outside and then turn it off, people with double the size house arnt paying 450 month that I have talked to. I am hoping I can pay at least half and have them turn on our gas. The customer service dose not work with you at all as well.Review fromMercedes N

1 starI was given a notification that my gas will be shut off unless I made a payment. They did not specify I had to pay the whole bill as I'm not working right now. So I paid 150 towards the balance and receive a thank you payment. The following month they turn off my gas asking me to pay the full balance now so I did and they took the money out of my account right then and there . Unfortunately, they can't send someone to turn my gas on until two days later when I told them my c section is scheduled for the baby to come out on July 20 (.which happens to be the two day later date). I also have other kids at home but they don't care they take my money right away but can not make the means to come out and turn on my gas there is no remorse or care towards a woman who about to give birth. There should be high priority list. I called talking to two different people saying there nothing they can do for me. After I made that 150 payment I never received another notice of turning off the gas I thought it would be covered until later. I am so upset and have to find someone to come to the house as we won't be home July 20 since we are to be in the hospital for the birth of our child. This cause a lot of stressed and it just ***** to give money to a company who can not help more in certain special circumstance. A big misunderstanding on my part. I never had my gas turn off before and just wish there was more help for people like me in these rare occasions.Review fromNish S

1 starAbsolutely incompetent company. The unit next door asked or move and shut off gas. They instead shut off our gas without warning. The company offered no apologies. They said they would could put at any time day or night to turn on the gas but they did no such thing. They are possible the most inept, ridiculous company I have ever had the displeasure to work with. More important, I see that this is a trend and the BBB has t been able to do much to stop them from being so absurdly stupid.Review fromkhalil k

1 starNicor is trash. They will add random charges called Other on your bill. When you call about those charges. They will tell you there was a billing issue and will remove the charges in 72 hours. Come to find out they did not remove them. So you end up calling back and being told that you are required to pay for their mess-up. You end up being transferred to a supervisor that is not prepared. To be told it is not your fault, but you are still required to pay the charges they made a mistake on.
