I paid $1608 to McKnight for the removal of my daughters wisdom teeth. This payment was required prior to the procedure based on insurance payment estimates. The wisdom teeth removal occurred on 8/30/24. On 9/7/24 I received an updated explanation of benefits from my insurance company stating they had paid $2,000 and that the patient portion due was a total of $1469. I spoke with McKnight on 10/14/24 and we both agreed I was due a refund of $139 (based on my already paying $1608, but I actually only owed $1469). Today I got my refund check but it was only $54, not the $139 I am owed. I called McKnight again today and they said they are disagreeing with the insurance about the difference in what I received and what I owe. They said they have no idea how long my refund may take and pretty much that I should be grateful to have received anything after only 2 months of waiting. I want the additional money back that I am owed ($85 additional dollars). Patient name is ******* ****** (my minor child).

    Business response

    Dear *** ******,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. At McKnight Oral Surgery, we value transparency and strive to ensure patients and their families understand our policies and processes.

During your consultation on 8/1/24, our office policies were reviewed with you, and copies were provided for your reference. As outlined at that time:
    - Payment is required one week prior to surgery.
    - The amount collected is based on whether we have received an insurance predetermination. If no predetermination is on file, a generic deposit is collected.

At check-out, you opted to pay the $1200 generic deposit to secure your daughters procedure and avoid needing to remember to make payment closer to the surgery date. Subsequent adjustments were made to align with the insurance predetermination once it was received.

We understand the billing process, including insurance appeals and adjustments, can be frustrating. As shared during our recent communication, we issued a refund based on the current account status while awaiting further resolution regarding an insurance-related adjustment.

If you have any additional questions about our process or your account, please do not hesitate to contact our office directly or reply via BBB. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,
    **** ******

I am rejecting this response because: Delta Dental already indicated you cannot charge me the $85 in dispute.  It is included on the attached explanation of benefits.

You have done nothing to resolve this and have not returned the money you owe me.

This appears to be unbundling of medical services which is also illegal/fraudulent.  I will figure out who to report that to next if you do not refund what is owed to me.

    Sincerely,

    ********* ******
