I purchased a two-year membership with XSport Fitness in July 2023 as part of their "Buy One Year, Get One Free" promotion. This agreement guaranteed me access to XSport facilities until July 2025. However, as of February 2024, I arrived at my gym location only to discover that XSport Fitness had been bought out by LA Fitness, and my membership was abruptly canceled without prior notice or any ********* no point was I informed that my membership would be cut short, nor was I provided with any alternative access to a gym. I have attempted to contact XSport Fitness regarding this matter, but their website is down, and there appears to be no clear way to request a refund or continuation of services. I also see that many other customers are reporting the same issue, suggesting a pattern of deceptive business practices.I am requesting a full refund for the remaining balance of my membership or for LA Fitness to honor my contract through July 2025. If XSport Fitness knowingly sold long-term memberships while planning to shut down, this may constitute fraudulent business practices, and I will escalate this matter to my states Attorney General and the ************************ if necessary.I expect a response and resolution within 14 days before I pursue additional legal action.Initial Complaint

I came in for a three day free trial. The gym is truly not set up for a person that is disabled. It actually causes more issues than that. When the gym was purchasedby fitness international. They moved another gym into this club, causing an egress issue around equipment. I worked out on the second floor and the was so close together it caused me to fall over not to mention that half the equipment is broken. Thats an exaggeration, but multiple pieces are broken andno signage showing as such I have talked to the district manager. The answer I got was they inherited this problem from XSport Fitness? No, it is your problem. Once you buy the facility and all the encumbrances theyre in. It is grossly negligent to do what youre doing with the lack of egress and no signage If you are failing to do the bar basics of maintenance. One can only think of how bad everything else is in the club. You a pool and cause a health hazard if you do not keep up on the chemical treatments. I spoke with **** ****** He gave me a Representative to Email about a complaint. It goes to a dead email address. I call the Corporate number nobody responds. Just because you are running a health club and believe you are not liable for anything because its inherently dangerous there an exception its called gross negligence. That pierces your insurance shield. Even if you go into a facility getting something for free, it doesnt mean they can hurt you with their bad business practices. I got no phone calls to ask how I was doing other than to say are you gonna join today? Are you guys out of your minds the answer that you will be redoing the club in six months means you know of the problems. This does not exempt you from current issues and liabilities I am going to put this on your south Elgin location because this is not going to go to the right areasInitial Complaint

Jun 07, 2024 I walked into xsport. The lady at the front desk offered me a buy one year get one free. I agreed and we set it up. A month later LA Fitness bought the gym, and now my membership is lost. I've been speaking to the manager ********* and he has told me has reached out to higher *** with no results. It's been 6 months and nothing has happened. As a result, I have not been able to go to any gym other than the ones ********* works at. Other times I've been turned away from gym whenever he was not there. I would like my membership to be reinstated or recreated, ****. I would like for it to begin starting 01/02/2025, because I have to not been able to use my membership. And I would like for the second year to remain free. I would like that in writing.Initial Complaint

Xsport purchased by LA Fitness, July 2024. I am trying to cancel membership due to lack of use (member since 2019). In recent visits, observe decline in facilities maintenance (pool closed by health ***** broken showers, locker room unclean, sauna broken seating). On 12/23 i discovered Xsport website shut down - LA Fitness does not recognize my membership, i do not have access to where my credit card is on file, yet LAF collects $15 per month. I am trying to obtain my member agreement to view T&C but Xsport Norridge says cancellation/agreement can only be done in person, only by the operations manager, yet Ops manager is never there 12/23, 12/18, 12/2. The effort expended is much harder than this needs to be. These unnecessary tactics is why i left *** in 2010 and now that they own Xsport, am experiencing it all over again. Because of the way the two operating companies are separated, is why im calling bbb to assist. It's $15 a month for goodness sake. Not seeking recovery just exit, no cancel feeBusiness Response

I joined XSport on 2/7/24 for 2 years membership, only at the **************** location, for $353.95 upfront. I declined the XSport membership upgrade for other location access. While I joined mainly due to location, the 24/7 hours and unlimited pausing/never expiring of membership were also factors.I also purchased personal training I knew I could use and schedule. I did not want or intend to purchase more since I am busy summer/fall with work. After being pressured, on the last day of the "sale" on 4/30/24 I purchased another package to help meet sales quota/goals for a total of 20 60-minute sessions for $1060 and paid in full. I was told they would never expire, so I had forever to use them and did not have to schedule sessions until I found time that fit my schedule. I returned on 12/10/24 WITHOUT ANY NOTICE that the **************** location was completely closed and under construction. No posted signs or emails. I still entered and there was XSport/LA Fitness staff that I spoke with that said my membership would be honored and upgraded to all other XSport or LA Fitness locations...In addition to not wanting any other locations, on 1/15/25 I will move further than 25 miles from ANY location. After calling/emailing about my membership and 18 prepaid unused training sessions, the only answer besides a generic robo email cancellation response, was to show up in person. On 12/18/24 at ************************************************* I went to meet with the only staff willing to offer me any solution for my membership/previously purchased sessions. After over a 1 hour sales pitch (~*****pm) to train with him for an additional $244 a month (I declined since I am moving) and trying to seek resolution I was told LA Fitness could not currently use the prepaid sessions from XSport. He would reach out to corporate and let me know in 2-3 days? But I am still without any resolution for my membership/training.I am owed at least $954 for 18 $53 training sessions.Initial Complaint

I was a member at Xsport fitness and paid a full membership through 2026. Xsport was then bought out by LA Fitness, which involved many changes differing from my original membership contract. Regardless, I continued going to the gym. Then the gym abruptly closed, without warning. I never received an email (not even in spam/junk) and there were no signage posted anywhere. It was not until I returned from vacation and went INSIDE the actual gym did I find out the establishment closed. There was one sign inside the gym, which is counterintuitive. I asked for a refund because this is not the membership I paid for but was told I did not meet the LA Fitness requirements for a refund. They only give refunds if the next closest gym is outside of a 5 mile radius. I dont understand why I cant get a refund for a gym I did not sign a contract with and no longer want to attend.Initial Complaint

I entered into a 2-year agreement with XSport Fitness on 8/7/2023. I joined via a 2-year signup for a flat rate of $519 lump sum paid upfront. It was then announced on 7/11/2024 that XSport was "leaving the health and fitness club business. [And] as a result, [they] will be transitioning the operation of [their] clubs, including [my] home club, to Fitness ******************, doing business as "LA Fitness", effective July 16, 2024. On that date, LA Fitness will honor [my] membership and personal training memberships without interruption and will begin collecting [my]dues."Since then, it was announced yesterday, 11/5/2024, that my specific location was to be permanently closed on 11/17/2024. I spoke to the front desk person about understanding how this impacts people in my position who pre-paid, and was told to reach out to the corporate offices for a refund for the outstanding 8 months of service I will not be able to use the facility. LA Fitness corporate came back to me and said that because my agreement was with XSport, and not LA Fitness, they are not held responsible for refunds. Based on the note I received 7/16/2024, it is my understanding that LA Fitness was stepping in and responsible for all duties of the now-void XSport corporation, including membership and dues. I am seeking a refund of $173 (the value of 8 months of service at $21.625 - the monthly total based on my $519 lump sum pre-payment). I did nothing to violate or break my contract with XSport or LA Fitness, and it is only once they closed my location without proper notifications that I began to explore ending my agreement with the gym.
