1 starWarning- DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! They rip you off with their shady practices! I rented a car through *********** and paid $182 which was for the car and taxes and fees. When I arrive to pick up the car I was told I needed p***aid toll fee fees for the time of the rental, which I agreed to do. I told them I did not need insurance as that was covered through my credit card used for the rental. I gave them all my info and they had me sign on the pin pad a couple of times, but just hurried and scanned to the bottom, not allowing me to read anything at all and just telling me it was for the tolls and I was waving insurance. We picked up the car and it smelled BADLY of cigarette smoke, but we didnt want to get in line and wait for a different car so we just dealt with that. After returning the car, I received the bill and charges to my credit card for an additional $218 more than I had already paid. There were random charges for the amount of days I had the car, plus the toll charges of $70 which I had agreed to and additional insurance charges. I contacted ACE to tell them, I wanted to talk to someone about the charges that were done that I had not agreed to. They sent me copies of the rental agreement saying I signed for these things and so I had agreed to them. When I picked up the car, the man helping me did not let me read anything and only told me about the charges I had agreed to. This is a completely unprofessional and shady way of doing business. I shouldve paid attention to other reviews that said similar things. I would not advise renting from this company, it cost me twice as much as It said the car should be and I was charged for originally. Looks like this is a common practice, the customer service *** that responded to my email did not seem concerned at all about the problems with additional charges and just basically told me I was out of luck. ACE Rent a Car LAX rented me a vehicle with a dead battery. One day into my trip, the car battery died and wouldn't turn back on. Called AAA to jump the car and got a receipt saying the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. At every turn, *** denied responsibility and refused help. Won't ever be renting with any ACE location ever again.ACE Rent A Car

Rented car at *** and left counter with what I thought was a rental agreement, come to find out it was only the key tag with car information and place to note damage. I had declined all damage coverage as I have adequate insurance plus credit card coverage. Upon returning the car I was emailed the rental agreement with $152.91 in unauthorized partial damage coverage. Upon calling customer service manager @ *** upon our return, I was informed that it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to have left the counter without a rental agreement even though two others with me witnessed it, and I should have rectified the situation at that time. Refused to drop the charges, basically calling me, and my companions, liars. In addition, the desk agent tried to sell us Inclusive Tolling stating that there where tolls required where we were headed. Come to find out, only tolls would be if we were to enter the EZ-Pass lanes which were easily avoided.Sadly after reading other reviews here, I see that I am not the only victim of these pirates.ACE Rent A Car

We will never rent from this company again. When we booked we contracted for a 5 door 5 passenger vehicle. When we went to pick up our car, they told us we would be getting a 2 door Mini ******. We said that wasn't a 5 passenger vehicle. They said it was if we were traveling with small children. We pointed out it only had 3 doors not 5, they said too bad and if we wanted a sedan, wed have to pay another $14 a day. We went back and forth with the online agent on the tablet in the store. Finally an employee at the store pointed out a typical sedan and we said we'd be fine with that. Then, when I added my husband as a driver I was charged $10 per day but that wasn't disclosed at the time of rental. I found out when I saw an extra $50 charge on my credit card and called to ask about it. This was a horrible experience and we will never use again and hope no one else does either. Worst car rental company in *****************. This ******** location, most of all. I booked through ********* and purchased their third party coverage, as it is cheaper than the rental car company. Go to pick the the car, their front doors are gone and so they have a blanket covering the opening! Get there, 5 people working, not one person willing to help the customer. Finally get to the desk, *** says I need basic coverage and I said I already had that with Priceline and my own insurance. He then has me sign the rental agreement and an additional agreement that was to be hand signed. Noticed added coverage on the additional form and told the ***, I dont need that. He then printed out another one and rushed me to sign it. Come to find out that the rental agreement had additional coverage as well on it. I called same day right when I got home, and no answered. Left voicemail. Didnt hear anything back. When returning car 2 days later, I went in to ask about my bill. Got to desk, mentioned the bill, and the *** just turns around and screams for his manager. Manager was terrible as he stated there was no additional coverage charges that I didnt sign for. Refused to help me with why it said it on the agreement. Reached out to Ace customer care, and their response was you should have called within 24 hours. I said I did, and then told them I had my own insurance coverage for the car. Sent in proof of phone call made and insurance, customer care said manager of location refuses to refund the additional coverage charges. I said lets speak with someone else then as the manager is not great at his job and cares less about the customer than the money. ************* refused so I have now reached out here so that others dont make the same mistake of going with Ace. I rented a car at the *** location 3/27/2025. My reservation was prepaid when I made the booking earlier in the month. When I got to the counter, the representative asked for my Insurance card, which I provided. He then proceeded to tell me he would not be able to release the car unless I purchased additional insurance coverage for $200. I refused and I logged in to my insurance account on my phone and pulled up my car insurance policy. I showed him I was fully insured. He said "as per their terms and conditions", I would still have to purchase additional Insurance, even though I am fully insured. I told him I travel to ******* once a month and this was not my first rodeo. I've used ACE (as well as the other car rental companies on site at ***), and this was never an issue. According to the Attorney General, State of *******, this is a common rental car scam- intimidating consumers into buying extras they do not need which includes Collision damage waiver, Partial damage waiver, personal accident coverage- all of which state OPTIONAL on the rental agreement I received. Rental car companies in ******* must automatically provide $10,000 in bodily injury liability insurance per person ($20,000 per accident), $10,000 in property damage liability insurance per accident, and $10,000 in personal injury protection (PIP). If you have a personal car insurance policy that includes other types of coverage (like collision or comprehensive insurance) or liability limits that are higher than what the state requires, the extra protection will extend to your rental car. You can also purchase supplemental coverage through third party sources that adds to the existing liability and medical payments limits from your personal policy.The agent finally released my car, 45 minutes later....The car, thankfully, was clean and in good condition.ACE Rent A Car

In our terms and conditions, it states that customers must have full coverage insurance (Collision AND Liability) to rent our vehicles. Customers may use their own personal coverage but must provide supporting documents that shows they have those two coverages as well as it covers rental vehicles, if not then it must be purchased at the front desk. Third party companies and credit card companies can only provide COLLISION coverage to their customers, they cannot provide liability. This business is criminal. They will accuse you of damaging the vehicle so they can get insurance money from you for any scratch or cosmetic damage to the vehicle that is not on your check out sheet (no matter how small or minor). I had a vehicle for less than 24hrs and they claimed I put $7k worth of cosmetic damage to the windshield and the front bumper when I absolutely did not.ACE Rent A Car

Lets start by if I can give this company negative stars I would! A booked my reservation thru Priceline and my total was supposed to be $99.78 with taxes and fees and unlimited milage. I get there to pick up my rental and the "manager Lucky" tells me I can not get unlimited miles because I'm a ***** resident. OK, no problem, I didn't read that in their policy. Fast forward to me returning the car, I get an invoice for $223.76. I go to the counter and was told I had to speak to the manger Lucky but he was not there and they could not help me with any questions nor concerns. Next day, I go ahead and call Lucky and he basically dismissed me and my questions. I was told Id get a refund for the gas and the roadside assistance since my credit card covered it and the car was returned with a full tank the same way it was given to me. I waited and nothing was refunded. I call a second time and Lucky answers again me wanting answers to my questions and concerns tells me that the taxes Priceline charges me for the rental also have taxes that I need to pay, and that no one told me to return the car with a full tank. He told me to email the billing company and talk to them. I have never received such rude and cruel customer service in all my years of life. No other company that I've rented from before has overcharged me or double charge me for fees that are already covered in the reservation. This company is horrible and are thieves. Lucky needs to learn to speak to people and have wayyyy better customer service skills. I think they need a whole new manger because he *****.ACE Rent A Car

The representatives are misleading, he sold us insurance that we already purchase and didn't need!! Then the supposed customer service representative at that location acted as if it was our fault? The opposite of customer service, purely looking out for what's best for their bottom line. Not the customer. What a joke, good to know that's how this company treats vets and first responders.
