On February 14 2025 I took my car to Meineke for a no heat problem. They ran a diagnostic test on it. They said they had to order a part. I was then told they sent the wrong part About a week later I was told they were having problems taking the car apart. I called some days later and was told they were finishing up on my car. I called the next day and was told the part would be there the next day. I went and retrieved my car. Nothing had been done to my car except they took out my glove compartment and unscrewed a part which was hanging loose. They keep my car for almost three weeks. I would like to be returned my $101.00 I paid for the diagnostic test. I was inconvenienced and told many lies by this company. I will never trust them again. I also had been told by other people my car was on the parking lot for several days. It could have been vandalized or stolen. Thank you for reaching out. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
When it comes to knock sensors, they are often a diagnostic step in determining underlying issues.
The check engine code was P1326, which indicated a knock sensor issue.
On your repair order, we stated, "Further Repair May Be Required After Initial Recommendations Are Completed." After replacing the knock sensor, it was revealed that the engine had ultimately failed.
While we understand your frustration, the work performed was necessary part of the diagnostic process, and we are unable to issue a refund.

Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention.
During your visit, we performed a starting and charging system diagnostic and determined that your battery failed the load test. Your battery should test at 600 CCA, but it tested at 395 CCA, indicating a faulty battery. As a result, we replaced the battery and battery terminals.
We noted on your repair order that additional work might be needed following the initial service. Wed be happy to schedule an appointment for a free digital inspection to assess your battery cables and identify any further issues.
Please let us know a convenient time for you to bring your vehicle in!

I have had nothing but issues with Meineke. December 17 after only having my vehicle back for 3 weeks. And a part had not been installed properly and or broke. I notified them immediately in the store manager asked if it was drivable. I told him no that it would need to be towed in and so they caughta tow truck and had it towed to their shop the next day, December 18, 2024. I got a phone call from the store manager stating my whole front passenger suspension had broke including the brake line snapping leaking the brake fluid everywhere in the parking lot . come to find out Meineke try to drive my vehicle after I told them it wasnt drivable but they still drove it causing all this damage because tow truck driver had towed it to a parking spot December 17 and so December ************************************************************************* Meinekes garage and it wasnt where he had dropped it off from the day prior and it was actually in the middle of their parking lot from Meineke tryingto drive it. They are not trying to make it right by fixing the damage they caused due to them not doing a four corner inspection they wanted me to pay $1400 and I denied the offer and told them they need to make it right and fix it. Multiple items where also stolen from my vehicle while in there care and they didnt notify me about this they also didnt file a police report but instead had my vehicle towed off there lot. When I had my vehicle towed to my house from the tow yard I noticed inside my my vehicle was trashed and went through.and noticed police asap. There was no force entry so someone had access to the key and or they didnt take proper care of my vehicle while in there care. I do have a case number . Repair of suspension damage plus items stolen are around $8,000 so far. This is unacceptable they showed they do not take proper care of there customers vehicles while its in there ******* pictures sent below. We understand your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to clarify our position.
Your vehicle has been brought to our location multiple times, and at each visit, we informed you of its condition and necessary repairs. Despite our efforts to offer substantial discounts, you repeatedly declined the recommended work.
When your vehicle arrived, it was already in a compromised state. As we attempted to move it, the wheel detached due to pre-existing issuesdamage that occurs over time from wear, lack of maintenance, or prior incidents. No repairs had been performed at that point, meaning we could not have caused the failure. Vehicle maintenance is ultimately the owner's responsibility.
Regarding missing items, we were not made aware of any theft while your vehicle was at our facility. Additionally, Meineke is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or their contents while on our premises, as indicated by posted signage.
Your vehicle was abandoned on our property without authorization or approval for repairs. As a result, we requested its removal. After repeated refusals to remove the vehicle, we arranged for it to be towed.
While we regret not reaching a resolution that meets your expectations, we have made multiple good-faith attempts to assist with necessary repairs at a significant discount. We remain open to discussing a reasonable path forward should you reconsider the repair options.

My vehicle wasnt compromised your techs drove from the ************* location to the **************** location. And I wasnt told repeatedly to remove my vehicle I was told the day before and I explained to distric manager I couldnt have it towed the day of . My suspension and break like and wheel was still in contact I explained to the shop not to drive it but it was still driven. You guys stated it was an upper control arm and if that was the case the price should be a lot lower. And you guys kept breaking parts and replacing them thats how I ended up with the cv axle replaced on the front passenger side because your techs didnt know my vehicle was 4 wheel drive during the differential replacement.the only reason all the damage was done was your guys didnt do your pre 4 corner inspection and I asked for the paper work on that and you guys refused and corporate already stated that that was not done and it shouldve been done. And as of the theft goes it was done by an employee that had access to where you guys keep your keys. And before it was towed I asked the district manager about the deal he stated no the vehicle is being towed. Im willing to pay for the upper control arm since you guys stated that is what broke. And I also explained to you guys do not drive my vehicle and you guys still did anyways witch wasnt taking proper care of a customers vehicle

On October 23rd, during your visit, our technicians performed an inspection and recommended several necessary repairs, including the front right brake hose, both front upper and lower control arms, both front struts, and stabilizer links. These recommendations were made to ensure the safety and drivability of your vehicle. However, these repairs were declined at that time. The same recommendations were presented again on October 25th and were again declined.
You were contacted multiple times by the district manager, store manager, and assistant manager to remove your vehicle, to which we received, "I'm not worried about it," as a response.
Regarding missing items, we were not informed of any theft while your vehicle was at our facility. Additionally, Meineke is not responsible for theft or damage to vehicles or their contents, as indicated by posted signage.
We understand your concerns, but based on our review, all actions taken were in line with our service process. The vehicle was moved as needed to complete the repairs, and the parts replaced were necessary due to the vehicle's condition.
If you are willing to cover the cost of the upper and lower control arms, front brake hose, rack and pinion, as mentioned, we can proceed with resolving the matter accordingly. Let us know how you'd like to move forward.

I was totally misled about repairs that were to be made to my vehicle. I initially took my car to Meineke on 10/12/24 as I had a Check Engine light on with some shaking. I precisely requested that the company resolve the Check Engine light and correct the shaking. On 10/15, I was told that my car was ready. I returned to retrieve my vehicle and paid a sum of ******* and received my keys. I started my car and to my surprise, the check engine light was still on and the car was still shaking. Instead of repairing what I requested, this company repaired items that were not impacting my area of concern. I immediately returned the vehicle as I had not left the lot. I was completely disturbed. The next day I spoke to their manager who apologized about the error, but said that the problem could be corrected for an additional 1k with a discount of 50%. This is absurd, the idea to ask for more money after they made the error. Totally disappointed with astronomical fees paid with zero result.Business Response

On October 15, 2024, Mr. **** visited our ******** Meineke location regarding two distinct concerns: drivability and rideability. Specifically, Mr. **** reported that the Check Engine Light (***) was active, and the vehicle was wobbling. During our inspection, we found that the wobbling was caused by excessive play and severe wear in both front lower control arms, along with rusted and damaged outer tie rods.
We initially quoted suspension and brake work to address these critical safety issues, ensuring the vehicle was safe to drive. Mr. **** received a discount of $684.20 on those repairs, about 17% off the total cost. However, we made an oversight by not quoting the Check Engine Light issue during that visit.
On October 16, 2024, The District Manager reached out to Mr. **** to acknowledge our mistake, and explained that we would correct the *** issue at a 50% discount. The *** diagnosis revealed a misfire in cylinder 2, which we resolved by replacing all six spark plugs, the ignition coil for cylinder 2, and performing a fuel injection cleaning.
Mr. **** requested that we extend the 50% discount to the original repair ticket, which was already discounted. We explained that this additional discount would not be possible, but assured him that we would honor the 50% discount for the ***-related service.
We are happy to confirm that these repairs successfully resolved the shaking and restored the vehicle to safe driving condition.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]That is exactly the problem, my concern was not addressed, therefore affording me an astronomical amount. The check engine light was overlooked for more costly repairs that were not immediately needed or desired. I was misled.
Moreover, there is still a problem with the brakes. In fact, during the last visit, the car was returned with one of the hubcaps missing. Im having to spend unnecessary time going back and forth to this establishment. I have another appointment Wednesday, October 23 to correct the brake issue. I have spent over a week trying to get my car repaired correctly. This Saturday will be two weeks worth of repairs, waiting, return, repeat.
In sum, I just want my car repaired at a fair price. The missteps that this shop has repeatedly committed should not come at my cost.

Dear Mr. ***************** you for reaching out. We understand your frustrations and would like to address your concerns clearly and fairly.
First, we sincerely apologize for the oversight regarding the check engine light (CEL). While the issue was resolved, we provided a 50% discount as a gesture of goodwill to keep your costs reasonable. Our team worked diligently to address the problem. However, I want to clarify that all recommended repairs and their associated costs were authorized with your signature before we proceeded.
We also want to emphasize that the wear and tear on your vehicle is not related to the services performed at our shop. We understand how this may have added to your frustrations, but we remain committed to making things right.
Regarding the brakes, we acknowledge your concern and have your appointment scheduled for Wednesday, October 23. We will do everything we can to resolve this issue to your satisfaction. Additionally, were happy to replace the missing hubcap at no charge, as your satisfaction remains a priority for us.
Across both visits, we have applied a total discount of $1,230.93 to ensure you receive fair treatment. We value your time and business and, while weve gone above and beyond to address these matters, we are committed to ensuring a fair and reasonable outcome for both parties.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at your upcoming appointment.

Dear BBB,I filed a complaint before about Meineke ruining our engine because they lied to me on the phone and told me that they had the specialty tools to fix my water pump. This complaint is about the fact that they had our car for 30 something days when it was brought back to me there was no air, so it had to be taken to the same Meineke that tore it up to have that fixed there was also no antifreeze and the serpentine belt was worn out also. This all happened after they installed a rebuilt engine into it and supposedly a new computer and everything else. We had to get rid of things that cannot be replaced to stay in a hotel they did not pay for anything until the last few days and when we had to take it in a second time because the codes keep popping up they paid for a week but guess what The code is still there and now there's another code that I was just informed when I called Meineke that that was what showed up the other day! So I called them they tell me that we would have to take it to the **** and Indianapolis it should be under warranty through them for the fuel pump module only to find out the only way they will look at is if we pay $199.95 for a diagnostics test so I then called Meineke and they said they are done covering anything for us! This engine has a 3-year warranty on it 1 year parts and labor and the evac is their job it causes excessive gas use and our car keeps stalling, So to tell me that tells me that they believe they can get by with this but they're not! I would like for you better business bureau to post this on their site so customers can see if they take it in or apart to be changed make sure they know what they're doing or they will end up like us without a car for that many days except we were homeless and get it back in much worse shape than it was in. I'm not done with Meineke not by a long shot! We're not going to keep risking our lives driving around a car with these things popping up all the time!!!!Business Response

The ******* initially brought their vehicle to Meineke for a leaking water pump, during the repair, a now-separated technician damaged the engine by mishandling the timing-driven water pump.
As a result, the vehicle had to be sent out for a newly remanufactured engine and a new water pump to be installed at no cost to The *******. During this time The ******* were provided hotel accommodations by Meineke, since they were living in this vehicle.
After the initial repairs, several unrelated and unique issues began to emerge, prompting Meineke to send the vehicle to *** **** **** in ******** for further diagnosis.
*** **** **** installed a fuel pump control module, performed a relearn procedure and replaced the battery with all costs covered by Meineke.
After these repairs, *** **** **** confirmed the vehicle was in working order. Meineke fixed The ******* initial concerns and has no intention of providing any further service to the vehicle.Initial Complaint

On August 3 2024, I initially visited Meineke to set an appointment for a diagnostic test on my vehicle and received a same-day appointment at noon. I return back to Meineke and wait 2 hours for results which was no issues. The results were I needed a brake master cylinder for my vehicle which I approve the work and changed my mind within 10 min and decided to reschedule at a better time which was 8 or 9am the following Saturday. I was told by front associate that my tires would be put back on in a few minutes and my car returned. I proceeded outside because there were no available seats and see the head mechanic/manager walk to my car and proceeded to take the part out. When I asked the front associate what was holding up, I was told then it was too late to cancel and would be finished by 4pm. I had to wait until 6pm, which is 2 hours after closing time, to get my car back only for nothing to change except my engine light being on and my brakes virtually gone. He offered to keep my car until Monday but knew I had no other means of transportation. I was still charged ****** after a discount for lying and I say lying because 20 minutes went past after my cancelation request before mechanic proceeded with repairs and front associate spoke directly to him after I made request and promised to cancel the part. I wasted 6 hours in total for no work to be done and at this point I don't trust them morally with my vehicle again to continue work on my car. There were also other customers complaints about timing and having to spend money for virtually no change in their vehicle's performance. They are understaffed and are taking in way too much business by lying to customers on when they can get their cars back and repaired. They are costing people their time and money just to take people's money.Business Response

On August 5, 2024, ************************* visited our facility with concerns regarding a "loud noise and the brake pedal going to the floor." During the inspection, our technician found that the master cylinder had failed and was leaking internally. The technician recommended replacing the master cylinder as an initial step.
After replacing the master cylinder, the technician began to bleed the brake system and then discovered that 3 of the 4 bleeder screws were seized, making it impossible to bleed the braking system which is required after a master cylinder replacement. The braking system would still be inoperable until the bleeder screws were replaced and the braking system was properly bled. Recognizing the critical role that bleeder screws play in the braking system, we promptly informed **************** of our findings. We emphasized the importance of replacing the bleeder screws to restore functionality to the braking system.
Given that this discovery occurred late on a Saturday afternoon, we recommended that **************** leave the vehicle with us until Monday to complete the necessary repairs. Despite expressing dissatisfaction with this arrangement and insisting on not leaving his vehicle, **************** ultimately decided to leave with his vehicle.
When **************** returned on August 10, 2024, we were able to complete the necessary repairs. The rear wheel cylinders and bleeder screws were replaced and the braking system was bled.
We fully acknowledge ******************** concerns throughout this process and want to assure him that we are committed to ensuring that all repairs meet the highest safety standards. Our priority is to provide our customers with reliable and safe vehicles.

Dear ****************,
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We take customer feedback seriously and strive to provide transparent and honest service.
Regarding the $37.62 oil change you received, we're pleased to hear that this service was completed without issue. However, we must address the request for a settlement of $768.23. We find this demand to be unreasonable and vastly disproportionate to the services provided. Our company has consistently acted with integrity, and we have photographic evidence showing that our recommendations for further brake repairs were made with genuine concern for your safety.
We take pride in our commitment to ethical business practices and will not condone any unfounded allegations or attempts to unjustly claim compensation. While we are open to addressing legitimate concerns, we must insist that any claims and requests be fair and reasonable.
We are willing to discuss this matter further if there are specific issues you feel have not been addressed. However, we stand firm in our position that the requested settlement is unwarranted based on the facts at hand.Customer Answer

The situation started on June 25, 2024 Our car's Check Engine Light came on Monday, June 24th. We took the car to Meineke in ********, they asked us to bring it back on Tuesday, June 25th, to perform a diagnostic test for drivability. We returned on the 25th and informed them that we had to travel out of town for a funeral on Thursday, June 27th. They did the test it showed a Mass Air Flow Sensor needed replaced and that they had to get the part in. On June 26, 2024, they replaced the sensor. The check engine light was out and they said it was fixed. We picked up the car on June 26th, and drove about five (5) blocks - the car stalled out and stopped. It started back up after awhile and we went right back to Meineke - they asked us to leave it with them so that they could evaluate it. They said that the Mass Air Flow Sensor had caused the Power Brake Booster to go bad. The morning of June 27, 2024, they told us that they removed and replaced the *********** Booster. We were assured by the mechanic and the manager that the car would go miles and miles without anymore problems. We drove home to prepare to pack the car and leave later that afternoon. The car stopped on us as we were leaving for our trip...We took it back to Meineke and left it with them. We had to rent a vehicle to travel that afternoon for the funeral. They replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor again on July 1, 2024. The car is still not drivable!!Our dispute is that we drove the car to them with one problem for evaluation...there was no problems with the engine stalling or stopping on June 25, 2024 when we took it to Meineke. We can not drive it now... We want a reimbursement for their negligence. We paid Meineke $1174.07 and the car isn't drivable. We have called the Manager for the local area many times before our trip and after we returned on July 1, 2024. He made contact with us once when we were not available - we have not heard from him since his one call and our many calls to reach him.Business Response
