Took my son ****** to cancel his gym membership in October. Its already ridiculous that you have to do it in person. They let us know that we will be charged for another month (November) and then nothing further. Well we were charged again for the month of December. I call and the girl on the phone says there are no notes on his file and we never cancelled. We also should have charged a cancellation fee. I explain that we never were told that. So not only are they wanting to charge extra to cancel and an extra month they didnt even cancel his membership and got another month out of him. This is ridiculous that there are so many hoops to jump through just to cancel. I cant help it that their staff didnt do what they were supposed to but she said it wasnt her staffs fault.Business Response

We have some new employee's, do not know if this is the reason that there were no notes on the cancellation of ******** membership. I am so sorry that this happened. I have instructed ******* to cancel ******** membership today. She is going to refund the December dues, it will take 7 to 10 days for it to show up on the account on file. I am a college student who goes to school out-of-state. I came home for the summer in ******************************************** the summer for 2 months. And before I left and went to school in September, I went up there and tried talking to someone to cancel it, and I wasn't able to speak to anyone and they said it was cancel. And so the next month $10 was automatically deducted from my account and I called them and told them this was supposed to be canceled. They took payment the anyway. The next month same thing the next month, the same thing and then in December I came home for Christmas and went up there to try to talk to a manager. I was not able to speak to a manager. Wasn't able to get any help from anyone there on how to cancel that membership and how to stop getting charged. I RECEIVED A $15 REFUND and a $20 refund. I called the get fit building headquarters and was not able to speak to anyone except for an automated machine. And so in result I ended up going to the bank and they reversed the charges for the $120.00 that was auto deducted from my acco7ht account in December. The bank helped me set up stop payment so they wouldn't continue to drain my account And now in and March I received a notice from a debt collector from get fit. Now I have an outstanding debt of $229.96 this is WRONG. I cant afford for my credit to become tarnished with this debt coming against me. Please help. I am at a loss.Business Response

Hello! I work in the *********** for the owner. I have pulled all of the information for ***************************** membership with Get Fit. I do not see any notes about the cancellation in September. I do see where a Membership Change Form was
filled out 12/26/2023, to freeze his account. This form was voided due to a past due balance. I see that the manager tried to call to inform ****** that the change form was void. He did not answer and voicemail was not set up. We have
received the chargeback from his bank for $120.00. We did not dispute the chargeback. Today 3/26/2024 I instructed *************************** the manager to remove ****** from ICS Collections and cancel his membership. I apologize that ******

I got my membership November 29, I payed 70 all together since i wanted to pay my yearly fee early, Next month i was charged 30 like normal, In january I had to switch cards, so i called to give them my new card, 20 Minutes later i was charged *****, for my 30 a month membership, i called and he explained that 25 was for late fees i had only been a week late but thats okay, and 40 for the yearly i had to spend about 5 minutes telling him i had already payed it, he finally said his manager would give me a call which she never did, i had to go on the website for a response back, i went to cancel my membership in person and i asked about the refund then she said i wont be getting it since they charge to cancel, all together i payed around 200 for two months what a scam. I payed this month and next month and i cant even go such a scam.Business Response

*** repeatedly tried to cancel my membership, and ** continually told I have to speak to a manager to do so. However there NEVER seems to be a manager on duty. I stopped by on weekdays, weekends, mornings, afternoons, evenings, and yet every single time Im not allowed to cancel my membership. I had a membership at the gym 6/20/2020 I moved to *********** ms I stopped by the gym to stop my membership 2 times both times I was told 2 different things once said due to me not able to enter building they would pull my account and send in to corporate and they would have to stop the contract second time I stop by was 3 days I believe before I left was told that it would have to be in writing and sent in and they would have to approve it at corporate at this point I just wanted to be stopped and I want them to refund me back my money I called today which is the 27th of December 2022 to resolve again I'm just trying to get it to stop a lady was very disrespectful and said that if I didn't be quiet not allowing me to talk she would hang up on me now mind you I did call the place back 46 times because I want to speak to a manager I do not want not one more payment taken out on me ***** again to tell me that I have to come in which now I live in *********** *********** and my mom still there and I don't mind coming once I come or I'd have to send in a certified letter done that did that here we are two and a half years later and I'm still paying I just need some help I don't want them to take out any more fees on me I don't want to be associated with that gym and I just want my money back for all the dues they've taken out on me because I thought it had truly stopped when I moved when they took down my information at the door they didn't let me in and said the corporate would cancel this the young lady today which is 12:27 begin to tell me that they'll get the letter look at the letter the side if they're going to cancel and decide how much more I owe I'm not going to give them not one more time this is not fair to me and it's not fair as a consumer I just need some help on getting this stoppedBusiness Response

I have a membership I tried to cancel with the company for MONTHS every time I tried I was told I need to wait for a manager. They lied and told me there was no manager there. Finally speak to a manager and she tells me I owe them more money before I cancel. I explained *** tried for months, she say theres no record of me filing a report but her employees lied and said I had to talk to a manager to cancel. No one told me about filing anything. I explained I tried to cancel my account around nov. 6th ( payment due on the 12th) and to remove my card because Im struggling to feed myself and my one year old daughter. I watched her remove it then was still charged. I had to cancel my debit card and thank god my husband shares the account to get my money back bc they wouldnt refund. I told her im not paying for a service Ive been trying to cancel for months, she said thats fine and threatened to send me to collections. They lied to my face when I called and asked for a manager she said ************* but I explained the situation and suddenly a manager was there. And theyre saying they have no record of me coming up there which is a lie. Its unbelievable what they are doing.. Its causing me financial distress and this business is lying and taking advantage of consumers. I want the account cancelled and Not pay for service I already tried to cancel. I'm continously being charged for a contractual charge and I NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING AGREEING TO ANYTHING. I was just charged ****** and I've never stepped foot in the place. It was a 3 day free trial and I never stepped foot into the facility not once not even for the free trial. I was told that I needed to submit the request in writing so I did and I'm still being charged. I called to see why this was still happening and the manager laughed at me and said they don't give money back so contact a lawyer or my Congress man because he would charge my account whenever he wanted to. Supposedly won a free membership back in March 2022. When I arrived it was a catch. Monthly fees to start May 17 2022. Due to Health issues was only able to visit gym once and train with Nikko. Soon after was placed on bedrest. I called May 5 2022 and explained to **** needed to cancel due to health reasons. She stated I needed to come in. I explained I couldnt due to being on bedrest. May 11 2022 received a text from Get Fit on a special to enroll so I assumed **** went ahead and canceled . I was never told I could mail a cancellation request. May 20 *********************************************************** often. I explained the reason I thought it was cancelled they advised I call gym. I did and I am not getting this balance corrected. Only went to gym once not paying $83 for a promotion with a trainer that I never got to take full advantage of. I have emailed ******* and response is not to my satisfaction. I explained once I was better health wise would consider re enrolling. I actually enjoyed that one training session that was suppose to be free with Nikko but health reasons I was forced to cancel.Please remove balance from my name.
