Hi, I built a home through your company in 2019. I recently found that some mouse got into our attic due to failure of installing drip edge. Since it was emergency I had a drip edge installed for $5,500. Drip edge is part of building code since 2018. I believe your company should pay that money back to me. I have money receipt. The 2018 International Residential Code (***) and the 2018 International Building Code both require drip edges at the ***** and rake edges of shingle roofs. The relevant code section in the *** is R905.2.8.5.Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for providing Fischer Homes the opportunity to respond to Mr. ******* concern.
First and foremost, our objective is always to exceed the expectations of all our customers when it comes to customer satisfaction. T
hat is certainly our objective here as well. We believe that delivering great customer experience starts with providing a quality home 100% complete at closing, which includes building to local codes and our manufacturer specifications.
Following further investigation, we have confirmed that IRC Code R905.2.8.5 did not go into effect until December 26, 2019. The home in question closed on July *******, prior to the implementation of this code. Therefore, the installation of a drip edge was not a code requirement at the time of construction, and not part of our building specifications. As such, any future installation would fall under the responsibility of the homeowner.
Furthermore,Fischer Homes was never contacted to investigate the reported issue or given the opportunity to address and cure any potential installation concerns, as is the standard procedure.
Thank you again for allowing us to respond to this matter.

Date of Transaction:Initial Contract and $4730 Deposit: 01/03/2024 *********** Appointment and $51,178 Payment: 01/18/2024 Amount Paid Total: $55,908 Nature of Dispute:We contracted Fischer Homes to build a custom home, using their lender, Victory Mortgage. Our initial approval was based on preconditions that were not achievable, specifically the sale proceeds of our current home.Details:On 01/03/2024, we put down a $4730 deposit to secure a lot with Fischer Homes, contingent on preapproval from Victory Mortgage. We were informed by our mortgage counselor, *********************, that an additional $51,178 would be needed at our design appointment on 01/18/2024. We were assured that securing a short-term loan from AMEX, to be paid off by our HELOC once available, was acceptable. Our home, appraised at $425,000 by PENFED, was to be sold to cover remaining costs. Despite ****'s assurance and preapproval, issues arose when our condo struggled to sell, prompting us to explore alternative financing options. We learned from other lenders, *********************** with MJW Financial and *************************** with ****** Mortgage, that even with our condo sale, our approval by Victory Mortgage was unattainable without a co-signer. Victory Mortgage incorrectly listed our sale proceeds at $350,000, ignoring the actual appraised value and our financial obligations.Resolution Efforts:We requested a refund of our deposits from Fischer Homes, given the unrealistic preapproval and financial misrepresentations. Fischer Homes offered to credit our deposit towards another build, but no suitable locations are available. We seek a refund of $51,178 as this amount was deposited based on the misleading preapproval.Advertising and Communication:All agreements and communications were facilitated through Fischer Homes and Victory Mortgage representatives. The misrepresentation of our financial situation has caused significant distress and financial strain. We appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter.Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
The customers conditional pre-approval was based on them selling their condo and using the proceeds to not only pay off the mortgage but alsoother financial liabilities.
The Loan Officer on the file used estimated net proceeds of $350,000 based on the conversations that he had with the customer. Which was also listed on the 1003 that our customers signed on January ********.
At the time of conditional approval, the borrower qualified using the customers income with *************** and executing the payoff plan that Victory and our customers put together. They were given every opportunity to address their default status.
They did not list their townhome for sale until about a week before the deadline to sell and close on it. Their realtor admitted that they were attempting to avoid a double move which put them at a disadvantage in selling their townhome and meeting the loan conditions. They made no price reductions and displayed a lack of effort in selling the townhome.
Fischer Homes extended the default grace ****** by thirty days to give them an opportunity to resolve their default status, but they still could not resolve the matter. The first time our customer mentioned any concern about the conditional approval was when they could not sell the townhome in time.
Fischer Homes fully constructed the home that was contracted and signed for by our customer. All our investments will now be on a Market Home with selections made by the customer, not our Design Team. The cost to have a home like this on our books will far exceed the deposit collected. Fischer Homes created the necessary documents that were executed by our customer to protect our business from this type of loss occurring.
The offer to put the deposit amount towards another build was generous and not always extended when a home has been fully constructed.
Please see the attached documents.
Regards,
Fischer Homes

We had a new home built in the ********** neighborhood in ********** and closed in October 2023. During our pre-closing walkthrough ( 3 hours before final closure) we noticed and identified there was severe settling in the front yard creating a 6ft long/3ft wide/ 8inch deep trench in our front yard. The field manager explained this was normal due to settling from the rain and digging that occurred from the plumbing of the new home. He assured us this would be corrected and once settling had finished and this would be backfilled with new dirt/sod. Since October I have followed up numerous times and while there is never a disagreement this was a pre closing item for correction we keep getting excuses while I see other new builds on the streets getting their sod installed. I have yet to receive any communication not initiated by me and we are now 7 months in with no resolution. Seems extremely shortsighted for Fischer to fail to finish their agreed upon work ($50 worth of sod and dirt) after we have purchased a $700k home. Next steps I will contact an attorney if not corrected very soon.Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
Fischer Homes has discussed this matter with the Field Manager that built the home, and his response is as follows.
There was a settlement area that was noticed in between the pre-closing walk through and the closing. The field team did add some soil and replaced the sod at that time. Not long after the customer did tell one of our punch-out associates that there was additional settlement occurring. Unfortunately, it was during the months that yard repairs are placed on weather permit status and could not be performed. Our associate should have informed him to enter this request into the Fischer Homes Homeowner Warranty portal, but apparently that did not take place.
Now that its spring and yard repairs are possible, he requested it again to a field team associate, but it must be generated through the warranty portal for it happen. This was explained to our customer and ********************** is very willing to fulfill our warranty obligation, but we need everything to go through the system for proper tracking and trade partner payment.
Once we receive the warranty request, Fischer Homes will make an appointment to review and address the settlement issue.
Regards,
Fischer Homes

I will list some of the items to make short.1 bad flooring.2 cracked kitchen and master bedroom bathroom counter tops.3 gas leakage in kitchen area that is atlest fixed for now.4 all floors making squeeky noises.5 they made our back yard like a Desert. Dear Better Business Bureau,
Fischer Homes has reviewed and researched our customers concerns with our ************* Manager and his answers are as follows:The homeowner had appliances moved in that tore the sheet vinyl. I explained to the homeowner that this item would not be covered under warranty as this was not due to Fischer Homes. The homeowner felt as though Fischer Homes should cover this item caused by the appliance company they hired.
There is one chipped in the island. The chip is on the inside ledge of the island sink where dishes are put. I explained to the homeowner that I would help them out and take care of this item for customer satisfaction. I also took the time to explain that this item more than likely happened when dishes were being put into the sink and the edge was hit causing the chip, so they would not continue to chip the island. Again, I did explain to them, although this was customer damage, we would help the homeowner out for customer.
The backyard is a starter yard. They want Fischer Homes to pay for sod or maintenance for grass. The homeowner had a patio installed post-closing and this caused damage to the yard. There is some settling from the sump line, and I told the homeowner we would address and fix the settlement.
The homeowner said they could not lock the windows. I was able to lock the windows with the homeowners. I thoroughly explained the operation of the windows to help them understand how they operate.
(Roof top needs attention) - There are no specific items for this other than their opinion. I told the homeowner I would have our roofer out to walk the house for customer satisfaction.
The toilets are the government regulated 1.6 gallons of flush water. If this is the first time having this regulation, it takes a little getting used to. We offered to camera the one toilet that has been clogged, but we also conveyed that if the clog is from homeowner objects that shouldnt be in the toilet drain system, then the camera and resolution cost would be their responsibility.
The home sits higher than the neighboring house so the driveway is slightly steeper but is not bad at all. The homeowner wants Fischer Homes to replace the driveway. I told the homeowner that the elevation of the house dictates how the driveway is and there isnt a way to change this.
Thank you for allowing Fischer Homes to respond to this matter.Customer Answer

Dear Better Business Bureau,
The Fischer Homes ************* Manager has been to the home multiple times to do whatever he can to please our customer. He arranged the ** service, performed all requested warranty obligations and explained that the driveway is part of an engineered plot plan for the home. Fischer Homes cannot create a flat driveway, the top of the curb and the height of the garage slab dictate the the pitch of the driveway.Fischer Homes strives to maintain its high customer satisfaction rating, but we're unable to accommodate our customer's request to flatten the driveway. The customer has indicated to the ************* Manager that this matter is his real issue and reason for the BBB submission.

Also how Fischer homes is putting my life and my family lives at risky by providing us the faulty cooktop range. Fischer homes knows how to build homes !!!! they can't fix their mistakes !!!!! that's ridiculous excuse!!!! first of all they are losing there reputation!!! Dear Better Business Bureau,
The Fischer Homes ************* Manager (***) has made another site visit and completed our warranty obligations. The customer has stated to the *** that he is going to continue sending complaints to the BBB until we provide a new less pitched driveway. As we've stated prior, this is not possible due to the topography of the community. The driveways in this subdivision are pitched and were engineered as such.
GE Appliances has removed him from their service list due to multiple visits for an appliance that is performing exactly as designed. Their Tech's have felt threatened by the tone of the customer and have red-flagged the service on this home. I have attached documentation from General Electric.
Fischer Homes will continue to perform any legitimate warranty obligations that *** arise, but the driveway is not on the list. We strive to maintain our high customer satisfaction rating, but there are times where we have to say no to unreasonable requests.

I have some of the documentation for your review. As fischer homes stated that CCM competed warranty work is compteted which is false report to my knowledge. Work is still pending!! Trims they supposed to fix in the kitchen area have delivered to our house emailed CCM to let him know unfortunately no response. Gas cooktop with orange fames still not resolved. Driveway issue they have to come with some sort of solution to the driveway. I can't afford to pay for repairs to my vehicles that have caused by parking on the driveway. Also if they can fix our neighbors inside the whole house with leaking water newly built home by fischer homes. They tored down the whole house inside and fixed the issue and im sure they can come with some of sort solution to our driveway issue. We feel so sorry for our next door neighbors that they have stay in a hotel for two weeks due to great builder fischer homes fault. GE yes i have called them several times to fix our appliances. First we had issues with gas leaking than our dishwasher wasn't working properly and now the orange fames! Anyone can be frustrated when your appliances is not working properly. I have emailed to GE Appliances no response from them. I request ****** and ******* with all the respect please resolve these issues soon as possible. Orange Fames are very concerning to me and my family. I Never threaten anyone GE giving False statement. I always politely ask and offer sodes and water to technican working at our house. Well i have no words to explain how frustrating this is. ficsher Homes have proven me that they have ZERO respect or care for it's own clients. All they care is just to bulid and build and profits. They provide cheap quality material with high costs for a house. It's at a point that they don't care about me or my families safety by not resolving issues with cooktop gas orange fames. Ficsher Homes have pushed a button that i have to sink for other opitons to resolve the issues with faulty gas cooktop and terrible driveway. We should have been told about driveway before how it's going to be build before they started to build driveway instead making excuses now. GE is also making fake stories to cover up the costs. Well thank you BBB for your support and effort towards to resolve the issues with TERRIBLE FISCHER HOMES !!!! Our first day in our home Fischer Homes had to rip out all my tile because the errors in the floor where not caught until we walked the home a week before closing. Our first night water pipes burst, bad connection or potentially vandalism from Fischer Homes superintendent. Flooded about 1 in the basement before we shut off. There response was call the plumber nothing to do with them. They built our home under contract for us.Our first day yard littered with trash from caulk bottles 2x4s sticking laying all over bushes just ripped from the ground. Was promised so much and just nothing done just complete trash. And countless other items I have fought with the Fischer Homes team to try and fix. And get ignored and denied a response. This might have been my worst decision to build with Fischer Homes and my experience to date has felt abuse and neglect from our contractor. We feel abused by the Fischer Homes team and treated like trash. We believe we didnt get the product we paid so much for and on my first night in my new home I spent cleaning water out of the basement because what it seems like typical trash work by Fischer Homes. How can I trust any of the work after all that has happened and now this.Business Response
