On July 2nd an EcoShield employee came to my house while I was at work. My wife answered who has a neurodegenerative disease causing dementia. It is obvious when speaking to her that she has cognitive issues, not understanding questions and not giving appropriate responses. She signed an agreement which I'm sure she had to be pressured into signing. She signed for automatic billing, but provided no payment method (because she doesn't have one) and told the sales person that they needed to speak to her husband before proceeding. I was never contacted and due to her dementia she failed to tell me that she signed the contract. My wife informed me yesterday that a pest control company was spraying and it was some scam (again she is very confused). She asked the employee not to return and called EcoShield to cancel. I was very confused when she showed me an email for an invoice of $528 which was for two treatments and $150 cancellation charge. While I understand my wife signed the contract, the EcoShield employee should have easily recognized her impairment and respected her request to speak to me her husband. Instead, they completely took advantage of a female with a disability and now expect us to pay $528. I tried to explain this to employees over the phone and they have no sympathy. I'm willing to pay for the service since it was provided, but I feel like we should not be penalized $150 cancellation for EcoShield's bad pressure tactics. I also believe EcoShield should provide training to their employees on dealing with people with disabilities and cognitive decline.Business Response

Last Summer 2023, we had someone stop by our home that claimed he was working with our next-door neighbor. He was a salesman (*************) from EcoShield Pest Solutions. He offered a deal. He said he could treat our house for $159 per application if we signed up for a minimum of two treatments. I went ahead and said okay. Our salesman, *************, said that we could cancel any time, but we would have to do at least two applications. I agreed. ** did the first application that day. A few weeks later they tried to come out to the house to spray without first scheduling it with me. I told them I wanted to wait a little longer before we did our next application. I told them that I wanted to stop the treatments after the second application. This is where everything started getting confusing. They kept telling me I needed to do at least 4 treatments, I told them that wasnt what I was told. I called *********** ************* and he said he would get it taken care of and to just pay for the second treatment and he would cancel out my account. Probably 5-6 weeks later Ecoshield started calling me again to set up more treatments. I informed them my account was supposed to be canceled and to talk to *********** ************* and they told me he was no longer with the company. After a long phone call with Ecoshield they would not cancel my account and are still wanting to charge me an additional $150. I am exhausted trying to deal with Ecoshield.Business Response

Eco shield has high pressure sales with one person signing you up with a technician that doesnt go over a contract. The technicians IPad did not work so the contract kept going blank. Eco Shield doesnt lied about monthly payments. I was told the payments would be quarterly. We have already cancelled the contract but they are requesting more money.Business Response

On July 5, 2022 I was visited by someone going door to door selling an eco-friendly pest solution. After hearing his full pitch, I asked about his guarantee and what set him apart. I was told Eco Shield was a locally owned small business and he was one of the owners. I was told numerous times if I wasn't happy, they would come back and retreat. After our initial treatment on 07/06/2022 I asked them to come back out and retreat because of no improvement. They returned on 08/04 and 08/17 to retreat. At this point, I didn't cancel because I was told if I cancelled anytime within 1 year, I would have to pay a $150 early termination fee. I was shown this verbiage the day I signed the contract, but was not provided with my own copy until after I signed an agreement. I opted to continue service with the hope I would see improvement in the spring and summer of this year after multiple treatments. I saw no improvement in the number of pests I encountered during the spring and summer.Today I attempted to cancel my agreement with Eco Shield. According to the agreement I signed, my last treatment took place in May of this year (2023). After asking multiple times to have the account cancelled, I was told by the operator the agreement I signed was for 24 months and I am subject to a $150 fee. They then tried (for the 4th time) to have me continue receiving their services at a discounted rate.When I looked at the agreement (after speaking with the operator), It showed the date/fee matrix I agreed to, but below everything I signed, at the bottom of the agreement, it states the agreement is for *********************************** the date/fee matrix, nor is it printed anywhere else. Everything I signed and agreed to reflects a 12 month agreement. I believe this was intentionally omitted from my initial conversation or added after the agreement was signed.Business Response

On July 7, 2023 I was charged by ECO Shield for (2) treatments for ********* Bees. I thought I was to be billed for one treatment. The sales rep was misleading.After his presentation I signed and my debit card was used for what I thought would be one treatment for the bees. After signing, the rep told me that it was a contract for several treatments over months. I told him I didn't want several treatments. This entire sale took place using the rep's **** phone. The rep then called the main office and was told that if I agreed to two treatments I could cancel and that there would be no can****ation fee. I now have received the two treatments. The first time I tried to cancel I was transferred on the phone to the main office and no one would answer. I tried again to cancel but ECO Shield will not cancel the contract and wants to add another $150.00 charge for some unknown reason to cancel this contract. I was never shown the contract. I have contacted my bank for help to try to stop any future payments, but transactions using a debit card cannot be stopped. This is clearly a case of misrepresentation. All I want is for this contract to be can****ed. I do not recommend, nor will I ever use this company again.Business Response

In June of 2023 I was sold on EcoShield services by a door to door salesman who used high-pressure tactics, which is fine. However, he made three completely false promises which ultimately sold me that he did not follow through on. First, I was told that I would receive severely-discounted pricing for the first service since I had just received service from their competitor. But "the price is too low for me to enter into the system, so I will send you a payment outside of the system to make up the difference". I was skeptical, but he even took my Venmo information to send me the payment directly, which obviously he never sent.Secondly, I was told that he would notify my current service provider that I was already with and 1) cancel the service on my behalf and that this was a common practice and 2) absorb any cancellation fees incurred. Imagine my surprise when the company I already had existing service with called to notify me they were coming to perform their service that day and that they had never been notified by EcoShield that my services were to be cancelled. This resulted in EcoShield squeezing two treatments into my home's treatment schedule between treatments by their competitor. Two treatments I did not need.Third, he made guarantees about treatment practices. Like how long technicians are required to be on site ("1-hour"), and applying granular bait throughout the entire yard. In reality, the technician's treatment duration is approx. ***** minutes. And the granular bait in yard is not applied throughout the entire yard as promised, rather just for the first 15 feet off the house.In short, I expressed skepticism to their salesman and he made three completely fraudulent lies to make the sale. After paying for 2 treatments from EcoShield which I did not need, and then paying for their contract termination fee since they wouldn't let me out of my contract despite the fraudulent guarantees, I am now out $450 for overlapping and unneeded services.Business Response

These documents comprehensively outline the scope of our services and the terms of our agreement with him. As clearly indicated in the agreement, the initial service was offered to ****************** at a significantly discounted rate. This discount was extended to him on the condition that he agreed to complete the Quarterly Subscription plan, as stated in the contract. Throughout the agreement, it is explicitly mentioned that, in the event of premature cancellation, the discount amount would be subject to repayment.
In light of the concerns raised by the customer and our unwavering commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction, we have taken the decision to waive the $150 invoice as a gesture of goodwill. We were approached by a salesman on 7/19/23 for pest control services. The salesman (******) was really persistent and contacted us many times after we told him that we were not interested in their services. Finally, on 7/22/23, he proposed that we give him a one-time only try for $99. We chose to give it a try on 7/28/23. The technician showed up on 8/4/23 and insisted that we need to sign a paperwork before he could start. We contacted the salesman that we didnt want to sign any contract. The salesman reassured us that he would cancel the contract immediately after the service was done at no additional cost because he really wanted us to give them a try. Were not happy about their service and texted the salesman right after the day (8/5/23) to cancel everything. This was done within the FTCs Cooling-off rule. We were told that our contract had been cancelled and the account had been closed on 8/7/23 by the salesman via texting. A month later, someone from the company emailed and texted us demanding for more money and told us that we had a contract. After we sent them the text messages from the salesman, they told us that what the salesman said didnt count and we had to pay for the contract no matter what. After spent more than an hour with someone from their cancellation department, we were told that we had to pay $150 cancellation fee to cancel the never existing contract.Business Response

Eco shield refuses to stop knocking on my door. I have told them multiple times in the past 6 months I do not want their service, I never want their services, and to not knock on my front door, or enter my property anymore. They continue to ignore my requests and continue to knock on my door, ring my doorbell multiple times a day. Most recently on July 7th they knocked/rang my doorbell 5 separate times, even after telling them "no, I am not interested, do not come back, I am never going to be interested" I have clearly communicated this to them on multiple occasions but they refuse to stop.It is approaching the point of harassment with how frequently they do this.Business Response
