    Not trustworthy! I contacted Calvins Custom Painting and Quality Fences to remove my fence and replace it with a new fence. Unfortunately, ****** and his team only took my fence away and disappeared. The contract clearly stated the hauling and installing progress. Before completing the job, they vanished with my $1,850 deposit. All my efforts to contact ****** have gone in vain. (He blocked my number.) The one time he picked up after I called from a different phone, he blatantly lied about never working on the project. There are plenty of receipts that prove otherwise! I am utterly disgusted that he feels no remorse for taking someone elses hard-earned money. This ordeal had given me unbearable emotional and financial distress. Please save yourself the pain. There are plenty of red flags, and I would give anything to go back and not ignore them. Its much better to hire a professional that will do the work and put in the effort instead of someone who never upheld his end of the contract.

    The Business owner took a $2450.00 deposit for a fence to be built on our property. He cashed the check right away. After waiting and waiting for the job to get started we got frustrated with the delays and contacted him to let him know we were withdrawing from having him do the fence. We asked for our deposit back (FYI no materials were ever bought for the project) he stated he would get us our money back at HIS convenience. It has been almost three weeks and I have still not received my money back. I contact him everyday asking for it and he keeps telling me he will give it back at HIS convenience or ignores my messages. No work was done and no materials were bought so there is absolutely no reason for him to withhold my money from me.

    In the highest regards to the complaint made of my company. Just statements are not accurate just say the least I gave this customer estimate back in December 2021 and I explain numerous times over the phone that I could give a ballpark quote because lumber prices fluctuate and they were completely understanding of this house too I do not have control over when and how much increase the department stores charge for lumber and I have no control over in those prices increase or decrease planning on the season and at this current time with the gas prices in the world overseas the material cost went up over 60% in two days I had told them throughout almost 40 text messages from December to March but I had planned on starting mid March weather permitting. My last text message to this customer was was in hopes to start roughly around the week of the 18th and March on the 18th on the exact day Menards material prices went up 60% after a text message from the customer asking if I would be starting the next day I need to call them rather than text to make things simpler and to inform them of the increase in material cost and that I would need the additional amount not my labor cost just for materials after stating this the customer decided to be belligerent and basically tell me that they were not paying me another dime and then I would build the fence at the same cost which I could not. So that was their choice to cancel the job entirely I did not rip them off in any way shape or form in a week prior I had 811 **** your property for major utilities I ran out of legit business in the greater Lafayette area with many references reviews in  standing in my community. This is an attempt to be little and basically do you characterize myself and my business for future customers and then to provide evidence of the work and service that I provide not even in the last 18 minutes Ive received another positive five star review from my understanding customer I am a fair businessman and this was solely someone trying to get a price In the winter and hope it stuck 3 months later. My estimate clearly said that any add-on work would be extra and that we bid at current cost meaning because I have no control over materials that that cost could potentially change and as far as their deposit I have sent a check to them but not in full and I will continue making payments to them until their balance is completed I will not be bullied or intimidated by this customer and their attempts to cripple my business or to make me out to look like a bad guy that took their money. Three months worth of staying in contact with them putting in extra efforts by doing supply list of materials needed to build the fence.Their cancellation and their demeanor towards me about the situation interrupting my schedule my payroll etc. they wanted to be difficult with me I did not wanna be difficult with them but I will not the boy so I will continue making payments towards her deposit as stated above

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. 

    [Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.] I attached contract stating the date 2/6/22. This is when service contract was started, the business owner said it was in December 2021. We didn't even own the home in December nor even live in the state of Indiana at the time. So that was a lie. He stated that he has text messages from December on through that is a lie like I said we didn't even live in ******* nor own the home then. He has NEVER sent us a check. He hasn't paid us anything at all back to this day 4/22/22. We gave him the check for $2450.00 on the day the contract was written (2/6/22) He cashed the check 2/8/22. He never bought any materials for the job nor did any services. If the weather was so bad and the job wasn't going to be done until late March or April why did he cash it and where is the money. He states in his response to this complaint that he sent us a check for some of the money and would continue to make payments to us when he can.....?? I am not a bank I did not give him a loan. I gave money for a service that was cancelled and not started it is not his choice to make it an option to make "payments" back. Which he still hasn't even done not one time. In the meantime I can't get this service done by any other company because he has my money alotted for this service. This man has blocked me from his phone because everyday I have asked for my money back. He is a CRIMINAL this is theft! He should not be able to own a business. If you look through what he states as great comments from others you will find he has kept others deposits as well. I guess the next step is court. I will *** for the money he owes, attorney fees, and any missed time from work.
