October 2024 I had a mechanic test drive and look at a vehicle at the lot. Other then rotars, brakes and possibly wheel bearings there we not much to be concerned with. There was a small transmission leak and some bolt that hold the tire on where missing that ***** the sales man agreed to fix. Almost right away after I left the lit I had issues that I later found out weren't the rotars, break or wheel bearings, but he abs system. I took to be serviced and get tires in March and was told that the vehicle was unsafe to drive due to a serious rust problem on the frame. I went to talk to **** at header and they claimed that there was no frame issue it was the underbody and it was totally safe to drive. They also wran a diagnosis and said the issues I had was an abs sensor and the ring that goes with it. They insisted that the vehicle was totally safe to drive even on a 2 hour drive witch I was planning on going the next day.. thankfully I didn't. The next week they replaced the sensor which I was going to pay for with a used part with out my knowledge.. it did not resolve the abs issue. So I took it to a 2nd shop which again I was told the frame was severely rused and unsafe to drive and that not only did I need an abs sensor but a pump which is obsolete which means it's unrepairable. When I took the report for the 2 shops I took it to back to **** and informed him his repair did not work, he denied any issue with the framing and still insist it's safe to drive.. I asked that all of this be settled.. I offer to cut the lost in repairs I'd made included new tires and tire pressure sensors, to be set clear and free of any lawsuits and off my record. He refuse my offer and gave no sort of offer to settle the issue. Never again will I go the or encourage anyone to go there. This place has no concern with the safety of the vehicles they sale.

*** ****** did purchase a 2011 **** Escape from Headers on 10/26/2024.  Five months after purchase the customer brought the car in for ** to do repairs and was concerned about rust and an *** issue.  We had our shop inspect her vehicle and was able to repair the *** for the time being with a used part that the customer was aware of and we informed her that if the issue came back we would have to get a new part and was aware of that.  Her front subframe does have rust holes in it that was missed the first time our shop looked at it.  When she came back she brought pictures in for us to look at the subframe and they did show rust holes.  Due to the vehicle being sold AS-IS we offered to split the repair and finance the rest of the repair for her due to the subframe being replaceable.  Before the customer came in with the pictures and to see if there was any options that could be done she purchased a different vehicle from a different business with the intentions of breaking her contract and returning her **** Escape to us.  At that point our options of helping and assisting on a repair to her AS-IS vehicle that was purchased five months prior were not an option due to the customer having a new vehicle and not wanting to repair her **** Escape.  We still will offer that assistance if *** ****** would like it.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was not made aware of the abs part being replaced with an used part until 3pm because I was never called or even asked about fixing it that way.. by time I picked up the vehicle and it started having trouble again it was already past closing.. i was told they ran a diagnostic on it and it was a sensor and a tone ring. It was only after this I decided to take some where I could trust to get it fixed right since they did not even when I told them I'd pay for it. That is when **** told me not only was it a sensor but a pump for the abs system that could not be replaced due to the part no longer being made. And that the rust issue is worse then headers trying to tell me.

Headers had my vehicle lifted 2x since I purchased it.. once in the air there is no denying that there is major rust issues. I was told it was only the underbody and was assured it was safe to drive.

I did purchase another vehicle due to the fact the **** is not safe to drive and I need a vehicle I can get back and forth to work in. As well as consult legal.

I took the vehicle to Gerber for an estimate and the extent of the damage is well above the asking price from headers which is also well above the value of the vehicle.

Also I was not offered at any time to split the cost of repairs. I was told the cost would be added to my balance.

This is a fraudulent sale. I do not believe in any way the diagnostic was ran on the abs system. I do not believe they inspected the framing/underbody period. If they did it was known that the cost of repairs where more then the value of the vehicle.  As I said the damage is obvious once it is lifted in the air.

We are sorry we missed the spot of rust on the engine cradle.  However, it is not something we wanted to ignore and not do something for you but being that the vehicle was sold AS-IS we will not able to just return the vehicle.  It is something that is able to be fixed and would also be a reasonable cost that would have cost under $800 to repair the engine cradle and that is before we split the cost and allowed you to finance the rest.  On April 4th, when you came in to the dealership to talk about returning the vehicle we informed you that the front engine cradle (which is the part that had a rust hole) was something that is repairable and not something that cost more than the vehicle itself as non rusted engine cradles go for $350.  Unfortunately, our offer is still going to be to split the repair cost and finance the remainder as both the engine cradle and ABS pump are able to be replaced with both parts being available.

Ive been making payments on a car for the last two months, however this is my first time doing payments on a car instead of buying it straight up. During this process I had to come up with a certain amount of money down payment as they say to be able to drive off with the car the car is for 5111 Ive paid 3450 before I was able to drive off with the car .i was also told the car was4300$ then 4800$ at first. They kept telling me different amounts I needed when it was time to make a payment to be able to drive off . Also doing this process I was told several times that if a problem occurs doing the first week or two of me having the car they would fix the problem , because this is my first time doing payments I believed them . A week with having the car a check engine light came on and a rattling noise preventing me from driving the car headers told me they would fix it but instead clear the lights off the dash to make it seem like it was fix and the car still has the same rattling noise . And when I asked the manager about the noise he said because the car is old but clearly that isnt the case when the noise started happening the maintenance light popped right on . My window also wouldnt go up and they placed a piece of wood in the window to keep it up . When I asked the mechanic did they fix everything he told me the manager only told him to get the window up and I should ask the manger about the lights on dash but when I spoke to the manager he assured me everything was fix. This is my 3rd car this year and Im just trying to stay above water but being taken advantage of because Im a woman and dont know much about cars is sickening . When I went through my paperwork it says buy as is but that wasnt what I was told when I came in to make payments. So now here I am ordering Ubers struggling to get to work and yet at the same sense making payments on a car Ive only drove for a week . I didnt fill out any paperwork on the car till the day I drove off with it .

Yes, Miss ****** did purchase a 2005 ****** Camry for $4795 plus tax and our service fee.  The vehicle was purchased AS-IS with no promises of any repairs to make.  As with any customer we will let a customer bring a vehicle in to get looked at and make sure there is not a major issue going on especially since she recently purchased that vehicle.  Upon inspecting the vehicle we found the rear passenger window to have came off the track, the maintenance light was on (not an engine light) and a noise from the rear of the vehicle over bumps.  We did not charge her for changing her oil and resetting the maintenance light and securing the rear window up.  The rear noise that was present over bumps is from an exhaust hanger that is rubber that was worn out.  Miss ****** mentioned the price of the vehicle and the selling price was $4,795 plus tax and our service fee.  She had initially came in and put a deposit on this vehicle in order to secure it for herself with the intention of using a TRADE-IN as part of the purchase.  During the process of her purchasing the vehicle and coming up with the remainder of the down payment she had became unable to use her trade-in to go towards the new vehicle, there for negating the trade-in credit of $600 she would have received so she did have to come up with and extra $600.  The total for the vehicle was $5,132.29.  Miss ****** was able to test drive and inspect the vehicle with a mechanic of her choosing before purchasing to ensure that the vehicle was in good running condition when sold.  When she brought the vehicle back in and we inspected the issues she was having it was also determined that the vehicle was still in good running condition.

I bought a car from this used car lot in February 2024, I got a oil change and that went well then the I had a problem with the brakes so my church helps people in the community with problems of such nature, so I go to them to have my brakes fixed only to be told I have a car that's can't be fixed and if the state inspected my car they would deem it unsafe to drive, I was devastated because that was the last of my money I have no money for another car, they suggested I call Headers car lot and explain maybe they can do something about this problem well I called explained to *** who sold me the car what I was told and also I said I know the cars are as is, but when a person buys a car that person should be able to fix problems with that car whether they can afford to or not, he told me let me talk to the owner and I called back and he said we have to look for a car in that price range I said fine, I called back week after week and nothing, I don't understand this because if I was to keep driving and my brakes go out I don't want nothing tragic to happen to me or others I know it's all about money for this company but life should be valued over money, *** keeps telling me he is going to trade this car but I keep getting the run around I just don't know what to do, I have to travel from one side of town to the next and I am scared to drive this car... Please I hope you can help me..Thank you *************************

We have spoken to **** on 5/16 and have decided to have her get the vehicle to us so our shop will be able to get a diagnosis and come up with a plan after that.  We spoke to her and gave her multiple different outcomes that could happen depending on if the vehicle is able to be fixed or not.  As stated by ****, our vehicles are As-Is, however we certainly understand the frustration and are willing to help with a resolution to the issue she is having.

On 2/26/2024 we purchased a vehicle from them. A 2009 ***** Odyssey. We paid ******** for the vehicle. The day after we bought it the back passenger sliding door came completely off the track. Like the for can't be used at all because it will fall off the car every single time you try to use it.A friend of ours was able to get it back on and closed and we just use the other door for now figuring we'll get it fixed at some point. Now last night the car died while using in my driveway when I got home from a quick trip to the gas station. It won't start back up again at all. My husband called them to discuss the issue and they told him to try and jump the vehicle and see what happens. That didn't help at all and we noticed while trying to do so that the serpentine belt was off the track and shredding when we attempted to start it. We believe the fuel pump may be the issue. My husband called them back to relay the message and they refuse to do anything at all about it. They did recommend a shop to us with reasonable prices. We haven't even picked up the title or been able to register it yet and it's already non-functioning.There is also a leak in the power steering fluid and an oil leak. Now we're left wondering how we'll be able to get back and forth to work and get our kids where they need to be as well.

*************** and her husband ***** purchased a 2009 ***** Odyssey from Headers on 2/26/2024.  I understand the vehicle has had some unforeseen issues and unfortunately, that does happen with used vehicles.  Mr. and *************** did sign and agree to the purchase of the vehicle being AS-IS.  With that being said the first thing we would do is look and inspect the issues the vehicle has for free in order to figure out exactly what is wrong and what is needed to fix those issues and look at what our options are after it is diagnosed.  We are sympathetic to the troubles you are having with the vehicle and understand it is an inconvenience and we would like to help.  I encourage you to give us a call and we can figure out what it will take to get the vehicle running again.

Bought a 2012 ****** Altima around August 11th of 2023. Within the 1st 2 weeks, the car needed a starter and battery.. That was 600 dollars, and the car sat 3 weeks till I had the money to pay for it... Got the car back, and by October 11th, the transmission went out in the car.... I called *****, and he was unwilling to remedy the situation, and I still am without a car... The cheapest price I found was **** for a new transmission for the car.

We are sorry to hear that this vehicle is having issues. It is always our hope that our customers have a positive buying experience and that they are satisfied with their purchase. We do our best to make sure that every customer is comfortable with their car before taking delivery. We make sure to offer every opportunity to allow customers to test drive and inspect our vehicles before making a buying decision. Our staff is always forthright about condition of our vehicles, if there is ever a known problem with a car we make sure to either repair it before selling the vehicle or make the customer aware before it is sold. That being said, the nature of used automobiles is that you can never know when or if a problem will arise. If a customer does have an issue our staff tries to do their best to remedy the situation with any help they are able to offer. Unfortunately this is one of those instances where nobody could have know that this vehicle would have an issue like this, and since the vehicle was purchased AS-IS and without a warranty this limits what we are able to offer in the way of any monetary assistance. ***** originally offered to help ********************** get the repair done at our cost through one of the many service shops we use, which is a significant savings. They also discussed ********************** potentially trading that car in toward a different vehicle on financing. There were concerns of approval for financing, however if ********************** would like to do this I am sure we could make arrangements to approve of financing for him on another vehicle. One other potential resolution we could offer would be to finance the repair for **********************. We would need the vehicle brought to one of our repair facilities to ensure proper diagnosis. If ********************** would like to discuss any of these options I would ask that he please call our office and ask for ****.

I am rejecting this response because:

Business did no such things as attempting to remedy my situation. They lied to you and I am refiling my complaint. I have a c*** car that doesn't run because this business is a sham. They should be put out of business.... 2012 ****** Altima has had too many problems since I bought this.. For ***** dollars, the car should still be running, yet it is not. Therefore I was sold a "lemon". I demand something be done about this

    Business Response

Again, as stated before the vehicle was sold AS-IS and Headers is not obligated by law to do anything further. We were unaware that this vehicle had issues and there is no way of knowing that this vehicle would have issues  after the sale. However, as stated before, for us to do anything for the customer we would need the vehicle brought to us. We have offered to remedy this situation by financing a repair, taking the car back in on trade ( I am sure we would offer a very fair amount based on the situation). It seems that these offers are not satisfactory to **********************. I have gone to the higher *** at the company to see if there is anything further we can do to help ********************** because of the fact that he spent almost $5000 on a vehicle and because it had a major issue around the 2 month period. after doing so, I have been approved to offer him the potential of repairing the car for him or swapping him out for a car of equal value, whichever we deem to be most prudent. However ********************** will, again need to get the vehicle to our service garage so that we can get an accurate diagnosis of the issue and decide how we will proceed. I would ask that he please contact **** to arrange this.

************ purchased the 2006 Malibu from Headers on 8/3/23, he purchased this vehicle AS-IS with all faults. Prior to purchasing this vehicle ************ test drove drove it at length. After his test drive ************ asked his salesman ***** to scan the check engine light. Upon scanning the check engine light they found that it was showing a code related to the shift solenoid. They researched the code and determined that this code could be on for multiple reasons, however since the vehicle seemed to be shifting fine, the reasonable solution to eliminating this faut would be to simply change the transmission fluid. After this ************ purchased the vehicle, on 8/18/23 he called ***** back complaining that the vehicle would not shift. ***** gave ************ the options to resolve this issue that he is able to give. He stated that we could repair the vehicle at our cost and ************ could pay Headers back in installments. ************ did not like this option so ***** told him he would talk to management to see about a different resolution. ***** later informed ************ that if we were to seek a different resolution, be that an exchange or otherwise, he would need to get the vehicle to us. At this point it has been 20 days since that conversation and the vehicle has not been brought back for us to resolve the issue. Although this vehicle was sold AS-IS and without a warranty, and we have no obligation to do anything, we would be happy to look further into this issue and come to an agreeable resolution with ************. However we can not do anything if we do not have the vehicle.
