      Had a C of D that matured on ****-23. Called the Liberty, IN branch on **** to cash in this C of D. I now live in ** so we had to do paperwork via email. Received documents to be signed on 4-27-23. Emailed signed documents back on 4-28-23. Did not received my check until 5-20-23. TWENTY FOUR DAYS AFTER MY REQUEST TO CASH IT IN!!!!FYI. The check was dated 5-2-23. Envelope was postmarked 5-15-23. Envelope received 5-20-23. Glad I didn't need the money desperately. 24 days is ridiculously and unacceptable. TERRIBLE SERVICE

      I closed my account 2 weeks ago,and they still haven't closed it. Poor customer service. Was assured matter was taken care of , but was not. Poor communication between staff and customers.

      Was with a ******** bank for 30 yrs. Then, First Merchants bought my bank and it was one problem after another. Then we were out of town and had problems and it got worse. They wouldnt give any help without stupid amounts of I.D. proof. I finally called the bank President and he did put someone on it. But problems persisted. We finally changed to *************** and its been a pleasant and a much better experience.

      OMG!! My husband and I are senior citizens. Our mortgage loan was transferred from ************** in ********. The service was great with level one , never a problem with level one for over twenty years. My husband went to the bank to pay the loan (house payment) and was told we have a charge off and the loan was closed at First Merchants on ******** in ******** ********. After dealing with this we are still getting half information. We were told to continue making payments on this loan. One division in this bank does not know what the other is doing. This is the second month and no one knows who made this " horrible " mistake at your bank. My husband was told that I was deceased, so ridiculous. We are receiving letters from the insurance company that we are on the verge of being cancelled for none payment from First Merchants. Is there someone at First Merchants that can fix this mistake made by First Merchants. PLEASE HELP!!

      I closed my business and then closed my account with First Merchants. The "manager" didn't close my account on December 17 2022 like instructed. Now almost a month later I am continually getting overdraft fees, etc. I have been in to the branch several times and called with no success on correcting this matter or getting returned calls. The last call I did actually get returned fees were reversed yet now accruing again because they still have not closed my account trying to lay blame on me when clearly by own admission on them, their own employee under the guise of their bank did not do his job thus causing the problem. We are pulling every single account from here as well as our work and business accounts and will steer everyone we can away from you. Customer service at its worse and blame placed on us when its your employees.

      Very frustrating, When you call to ask a question on your business account you have to provide your drivers license number and information on a prior transaction. And I am calling from my phone number. Absurd. Bureaucracy carried to the ridiculous. Can't they look at caller ID or do a voice recognition.

Because account information is private, all business customers must be fully verified by a variety of methods. This verification is uniformly done on all calls for business accounts and is in place to mitigate the risk to customers of fraudulent and any other unauthorized account access. According to the FBIs ************************** in 2020 there were about ****** fraud victims of spoofing scams who reported a monetary loss of more than $215 million. Fraudsters utilize a wide variety of techniques to gain unauthorized access to account information, including but not limited to tampering with caller ID and voice manipulation tactics. Their methods are constantly evolving, but so are First Merchants Bankss strategies to avoid their fraudulent activity. For this reason, it is important that the bank does not rely solely upon caller ID or voice recognition. Please know that the bank is constantly evaluating new methods to verify callers.       Horrible!!! The worst experience in my entire life This is in regards to the Home buyer program. I wish I would have saved myself from this horrible experience. I had the opportunity to work with both agents in charge of this program and they did a disservice to me and the company. Im worried about the safety of my information. I dont trust the integrity of the two loan officers over this program.

      Worst bank EVER!!! Do not use this bank!! They been charged me a student $8 a day for overdraft that I didnt know was on there!!! Horrible! They do NOTHING to help their customers!! I will be closing my account with them ASAP!!!

      ****** in the *************** is absolutely awful. I send wires monthly. This past week the screwed up 3 times sending them to the WRONG place. They input the data from previous wires, yet sent to the wrong beneficiary.Then connected a password from my 10 year old personal account to my business account. They assumed I wanted it. Now they know that it's me but refuse to resend the wire until the password comes off. There tech support and customer service is less than a 1 star and they could care less! ****** even admitted she had other things to do. Me too...switch banks when I get home and **** everyone about trying to do business with them.

      This bank have adopted a new policy asking customers that withdraw any dollar amount over $1500 asking,"Why are you making this withdrawal?" Well because I have direct deposit with you all and been a customer for over 20 years! No Sir that's not sufficient so can you give us another reason. My reply was no! The next day I get an unauthorized call from the ************ ******* branch manager while I'm @ work claiming that I was the one irate! Really! After I've been harrassed over and over with this question from the bank tellers?? It's unsafe to ask this question with a line full of customers knowing that you are withdrawing a generous dollar amount out of your account. You never know who's plotting to *** you! The security gaurd politely escorted me to my vehicle on one occasion at this branch. This new policy put customers in position to be harrassed on every occasion by the staff.
