I have attended this college several times over my many years on active duty military & post retirement. Theyve received astronomical amounts of money in GI bill, yellow ribbon, & other forms of aid. I attended in 2020 but was hospitalized for 90 days a circumstance which the school was immediately notified of upon my admission. They are now attempting to collect a mere $1300 in comparison to thousands theyve already been paid. They are using collection agencies and an abusive transcript hold that is now preventing my enrollment at another institution. Despite current legislature and federal, state, and local initiatives encourage degree completion resolutions for the many demographics I fit into. *** contacted everyone up to the president of the university to seek resolution and provided a plethora of current legislative guidance showing its an abusive tactic when theyve already hurt my credit. Im a homeless, 70% disabled veteran and this is supposedly a Catholic college so you would think rather than ignore my attempts to resolve this issue they would would have 1. Done the correct action of granting a LOA rather than sent my aid back and then charge me, 2. Offer resolution when it was initially bright to their attention that I wanted my transcript and/or resolution to obtain it for enrollment in the form of payment plan or appeal, 3. Not flat out ignore my emails and complaints through proper channels. At this point they are violating my rights and I am currently in talks with attorneys willing to help me take legal action considering my demographics. I am simply trying to improve my currently destitute situation my completing my bachelors degree so I can pay my debts and improve my own daily life as well as my children. As a low income, single woman, mother, disabled veteran, and homeless citizen Im extremely discouraged and this only adds to my homelessness that I can ever improve my circumstances or the circumstances of my children.
