Cotton Pediatrics saw my minor son for a checkup, took a urine sample and did not use our ********* card as requested. This resulted in us being billed over $***. We would not have allowed this to happen if we there in person. When I called to speak with the office manager, she was ********* and **********. She advised to contact the ********************* billing Dept. which I did in vain. The *** billing Dept. stated Cottonwood Peds send the specimen for processing to their lab and not ***** laboratories. When the office manager (Carol?) and I spoke again, I advised I would like to speak with Dr. *****, and she would not let me talk to him; going so far as to say if I made an appointment to do so, she would cancel it. She said she would make sure I did not talk to him, and also said Cottonwood Pediatrics does not make money off the bill and didn't care if I paid it. It is not right she is able to block my complaint to a higher office authority to cover for her/their mistake. It is also not right that they refused to use the ***** Card in the beginning with our minor son. Had we known this was their new practice, we would have had our son go elsewhere.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/13) */ 1. We could not help with this bill because it was owed to another entity. 2. My understanding from that other entity is that they waived these charges, so the problem is solved. 3. The critical words in this complaint were "saw my minor son." A minor cannot be expected to navigate these situations without help from a parent. 4. Anything further we might have to say is prohibited by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the federal law that requires us to safeguard patient privacy. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Dr. ***** needs to be made aware of this situation and not swept under the carpet by the office manager. This bill was created due to incompetence on the part of the office staff, and now a third party will have to pay the bill.
