First contact with company was July 8, 2024. After constant follow up we were finally scheduled to close On October 7, 2024. The mobile home was delivered on October 8, 2024. October 11, 2024 Dealer stated they were working on ordering the trim out. Dealer told us we could not move in until after the trim out, and trim out could not be done until water connected and power were connected. Water Connected October 21st and Power connected November 20. A/C installed November 25th. Inquired multiple times about trim out with no schedule offered. November 25th dealer stated the manufacturer responded and said they are waiting on the next available contractor and would let us know when they would be coming. I asked for the number to call them and they said someone would be out within the next two weeks. No one showed up and no one called. On December 6, 2024 I made a follow up call and was told it would not be until after the 1st of the year. The insurance company sent us a letter stating that if the home was not finished by January 1, 2025 the insurance will be cancelled. In addition to the interior being unfinished, the exterior siding has still not been finished and has been exposed to the elements for months now.Business Response

In order to properly complete a trim out on a sheetrock double wide, the home needs to have power and AC connected. As the customer stated below, they did not get their power on until November 20th and just a few days later we installed the AC. The company responsible for their trim out is ******** **** ******** and the client is very aware of that. Atchafalaya Homes is not completing the trim out because ******** **** ******** is completing the trim out, therefore they are not waiting on Atchafalaya Homes. With that being said, we cannot control the schedule of ******** **** ******** as this is a completely separate company. Again, the client also has been in contact with ******** **** ******** as well and they're aware that is the company they were waiting on. Since the date of the complaint, ******** **** ******** has completed their trim out and are working on remaining cosmetics.
Atchafalaya Homes does not have any additional work to finish on the customers property to our knowledge as of 1/7/25. If this is not correct, we would be happy to have anything brought to our attention so that we can work with the manufacturer to make sure the job is completed. Thank you!

Good afternoon, I am reaching out because my husband and I have been trying to get many areas in our home fixed. We have contacted Atchafalaya Homes and they have sent a maintenance man to our home once a couple of months back. He fixed a couple of things like the bedroom door being crooked, all trimmings that were coming off and now are again, loose cabinet doors and much more. The front of the kitchen island has yellow glue everywhere and cannot be removed, cabinet doors are loose and falling off of hinges again, drawer door fell off in master bath, master bath tub leaks, the list goes on. We have been living here less than 3 years and have had problems since day 1, such as our moldy back bedroom that was replaced. We feel as though the quality of our home is absolutely terrible. I am contacting you hoping that we can get help from you guys. Thank you.Business Response

Dear Mr. *******,
Thank you for inquiring about your service. We apologize for these issues you are having. We did the following repairs on your home on these dates:
10/22/2021- repaired roof and ceiling in 3rd bedroom and repaired vinyl siding.
11/11/2021- we came out and handled everything that you listed on our 30-day cosmetic list- replaced two damaged wall boards and adjusted interior doors.
9/15/2022- secured a kitchen cabinet door that was falling, repaired a kitchen drawer, repaired a leak in the kitchen sink, adjusted the master shower door, adjusted a bedroom door and adjusted the back door. We also changed out a few shingles due to weather, although it was not covered under the 1-year manufacturer’s warranty. We did these shingle repairs at our own cost.
As it stands right now, you are out of warranty. Your warranty ended on October 19, 2022. Most of the issues you described could possibly be due to lack of proper home maintenance. They all appear to be cosmetic in nature. However, we have been informed by ****** Homes that they are going to send you some cabinet drawers, free of charge, as a courtesy.
Many Regards,

I am rejecting this response because:These cosmetic issues have been in my home since day 1, and were never completely repaired, so please do not tell me that they are from poor home maintenance. We had a professional inspector come out whenever we moved into our home and it has a book full of issues, I will be glad to send that over to you. This has been an ongoing nightmare for almost 3 years now!
Cabinetry (has been repaired twice already and still falling off of hinges?)
Loose window in master bedroom
Chipped corners of kitchen island
Glue under kitchen island on wall (yellow and clearly visible)
Spider cracks in tub from moving (was told it would be replaced over a year ago
Leak under kitchen sink was temporarily fixed with sticky putty

I am sorry you feel this way. We are only the retailer. We did not build the house. There is a 1-year manufacturer's warranty on the house, however, if you feel like these issues were unresolved during the warranty period, please contact ******.

Date of purchase: 12/16/2023 Purchase price: $102,143.84 We were told delivery and setup would take 2-3 weeks and guaranteed to be available to move in by 02/29/2024. It took 4 weeks just to get the mobile home moved onto the property. It has been on the property since 01/16/2024. The septic tank was installed on 01/22/2024. After getting the run-around for 3 weeks to have the water well installed, I called a driller myself on Friday, 02/09/2024, hired him and had the well drilled on 02/12/2024. He matched their price and Atchafalaya Homes reimbursed me; which they did in a timely manner. We then got the run-around to have the electrical run. Electrician was hired from Lake Charles and completed his work on 02/21/2024. We were told the AC would be installed on 02/24/2024. According to the AC installer on 02/23/2024, the warehouse doesn't have the parts he needs and doesn't know when they'll receive them. As of 02/28/2024 he still doesn't have them. We have since spoken to several contractors and have discovered the issue getting people to complete these tasks is because Atchafalaya Homes is trying to "nickel & dime" them and then takes forever to pay them. Atchafalaya Homes has NOT tried to expedite this process AT ALL. In fact, I left a message for Ashley Allanson yesterday who is supposedly the service manager and she never returned my call. The last time I called for her, the phone mysteriously disconnected and then rang continuously when I called back. I believe if we had financed this purchase, things would have moved much quicker but since they have their money, there is no incentive to get this completed. My son had to move out of his apartment and is now paying a hotel expense and $55/day for a UHaul to store his belongings. The mobile home needs to be completed NOW!Business Response

Ms. *******,
We completely understand how frustrating it can be when there are delays during the construction process of the home. We share this frustration with you as our #1 goal is to make sure you are satisfied before, during and after the sale. However, many of your frustrations are directly related to situations that are out of Atchafalaya Homes's control. The home was paid in full on 12/16/2023 and on that same day we submitted your property locator to our third-party moving company. However, due to unpredictable changes in the weather, there were delays with the delivery because your property was not fully dry. During this time, your salesperson was in contact with all of the contractor's associated with your construction process and kept them informed on when your home was expected to be delivered. We delivered the home on 1/16/2024, which was the earliest date your property was dry enough for a safe delivery. On that same day of delivery, your salesperson placed an order for all of your included improvements, such as your septic, water well, electrical, AC, etc. These improvements are completed by third-party companies that are not directly owned by Atchafalaya Homes therefore, these companies placed you on their schedules according to what they had available. During this process, the water well company was unreliable, and we were unable to get them out there as fast as we anticipated for. Therefore, we reimbursed your water well funds, as you stated, in a timely manner. The AC installer was set to install your AC unit on 2/23/2024, however, due to the AC distribution center not having the proper unit in stock for the specific type of home you purchased, we had to wait on the correct parts and materials. This is another situation that is out of our control, but we did contact multiple AC distribution centers to try to get the correct parts expedited. Six days later, your parts arrived at the distribution center and your AC unit was installed on 2/29/2024. As of now, we are currently waiting on your power company to turn your power on so we can schedule your trim out and finish the completion of your home. Please understand that we are doing everything we can to get your home completed and ready for you to live in as soon as possible. Although these delays may have not been within our control, we do sincerely apologize for any frustration this has caused you. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Ms. *******,
Per stated in our initial response to you, many of your complaints are regarding third party companies that are subcontracted through Atchafalaya Homes. At this moment, we have done everything we can to put a rush on all final parts of your construction process. Our subcontractors will be finishing up as soon as they possibly can. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

I am rejecting this response because yet another week has gone by with zero work performed on the mobile home. The service department has yet to contact us to connect the crossover pipes so that we can connect the water to the mobile home. The trim guy has yet to contact us to finished the trim out work and complete the "marrying" of the mobile home. You stated that Atchafalaya is "doing everything you can" except hire subcontractors to complete the work in a timely fashion. It seems if you are selling so many mobile homes that the trim guy can't keep up with the demand then you should hire a second trim guy. It seems that having ONE GUY to handle your trim work is not sufficient so I would not claim that you are "doing everything you can".

I recently purchased a home from Atchafalaya Homes May 2023. The home was delivered damaged. They came out to fix some things. During the initial discussion of purchasing home , the sales person provide the cost of the home and the additional cost for upgrading. The upgrades costed additional 24000. They charged 10000 for the concrete, which I was told it would be a full slab but it was perimeter runners. Once I complained It went down to 8000. There were additional thing's, i paid for an electrician’s permit to work in my city and i was not reimbursed and the electrician that was supposed to be used did not come out. It was another company. I was informed to get information for the permits for the sewer and the a/c. However, I discovered that the same individuals who poured the concrete slab is the same people that did the plumbing. I did address this with the sales person however she responded by trying to throw me off and provided me the contact number for the person who did the plumbing which did not help whatsoever so I paid $10,000 for a concrete additional amount for the plumbing, which was supposed to be done by someone else, but the same person came out so that was additional fee was paid to the same person who completed the concrete job. I did request a copy of the invoice to see how much was charged for the concrete, but they have not sent me any information. Upon entry into the home the home was a cracked due to the movement they sent two guys out to do the work. They painted my home and you can still see the cracks in all the lines. Oh, even though they painted right now, the cracks are becoming more visible, which should have been fixed by the painters. I do have additional stuff that I need to end and complain about. I was charged for a certain amount and my invoice that they sent me and the invoice from the loan company. It’s two different amounts. I do have additional information. I can visibly see the repairs need to be done but I’m too afraid to call.Business Response

on June 7, 2023 I went to Atchafalaya homes LLC doing business as ****** ******* in Thibodaux la. At time this lady ******** ********* was agent representing the company and show me few Mobile homes. I made a decision to purchase mobile name Turkey Creek. ******** wrote up the paper to include New Septic tank, water Connection and electric pole connections, AC, Skirtings, and steps. Most of the items were granted with exception of the new Septic tank. I have been speaking with **** ****** about new septic tank since August, which amount for septic tank is included in my loan payment. **** have been giving me the run around for months. When I spoke to Mrs. ****** the middle of Sept, She told me I should be receiving check by Oct 6 but no later then Oct. 13, 2023. How I never received the check. I called **** and she told me she would look into it. Never received a call ,so went to office where I was told the check would be here by Oct 17 or 18. Never received check, then they told me check was mailed, however; they could not tell me address it was mailed to or the amount. Which let me know they told untruth again and check was not mailed. Then on Oct 18 I was told check was being over night . Still no check, On Friday Oct 20 I went back to office and spoke with **** again and she told me check would be here Sunday Oct 22, 2023 some lady from main office was bring check. at this point I so confused they have lie and said check was coming to me multiple way but never received. In response to Ms. ******** complaint, we have tried to help Ms. ****** every step of the way in the purchase of her home since we took over the dealership in June. She had previously had an agreement with ********** who was bought out by ****** ********. We acquired about 6 of their deals with little to no guidance on the specifics of these deals. The previous management didn't recall details when we asked, so we tried our best to make the purchase as easy as possible with not much to go on. In this specific instance, Ms. ****** was not given details in writing, but there were notes scribbled in her file, not all of which addressed all of her concerns or improvements needed. We took a negative profit on this deal to include everything that she needed to get done to get her into the beautiful home that she picked out. We have sent servicemen out to address to every repair that she has let us know about including today, 11/2/23, when we sent her out a new storm door that she requested with the manufacturer's service technician. The check in question was an amount that was never in writing in her file. It was an amount that Ms. ****** found when she googled how much a septic tank would cost. She did not put down money for a new septic tank so no money was due to be refunded. Nevertheless, to make her satisfied, we agreed to pay a portion of that cost that she was requesting. We agreed with her on the amount of $4500. The check request was sent to our accounting department, which is at our main office in Carencro, La, and a mistake was made there. The check that we received was late and for $3000. We did let accounting know. We will be happy to rectify this situation if Ms. ****** will agree.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 20775516, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me if I'm paid the amount of $4200.00. The other information is untrue and I have documents to prove. Just like they told me there would be no money for closing coast but charged anyway. Same as with repairs, I purchased the home in June and they just started all the repairs in November. However: to close this issues out, I'm willing to accept the $4200.00.Sincerely,

I purchased a mobile home to live in after I lost my home in hurricane Laura. I had to complete a punch list for items needed repairs within 30 days of move in. One of the items on the punch list was the cabinet doors on the kitchen bar wouldn't close properly. After waiting 6 months the repairman came to replace the doors. Once he replaced them the issue still existed. He determined the bar was warped and said he would submit the findings to the office. Three days later 1/20/2023 I called the office and was told the manufacturer would be notified for repairs. In June I called to get an update and was told they had no record of my complaint. After telling the service department I had video of the day the service man was at my house she changed her response. Finally after several emails they sent someone from the manufacturer 8/17/2023 to correct the problem. While the repairman was making the repairs he moved my sink and disconnected the plumbing. He said he forgot sealant and would need to go to local store to get some. He never did and left without sealing the drain. Today 8/18/2023 I filled the sink to wash dishes. Later I noticed the kitchen was flooded. The whole under cabinet was flooded. I contacted the service department to let them know and she told me I had to contact a plumber. This issue is a direct result of the serviceman not applying sealant after he removed it.Business Response

My wife and I started the application process in October of 2019, we closed on the home (The Entertainer) in May of 2020 and moved in January 2021. During the time frame from then to present time we have been experiencing many issues with the home that are major safety concerns for our family. The first issue is that Atchafalaya Homes improperly placed another home incorrectly onto our property line without contacting a surveyor to ensure that they were in the property guidelines. We had to pay for a surveyor to come out and survey the land and he too confirmed that the home placed before ours was on our property. A contractor with Atchafalaya homes informed us that they would be unable to lay the foundation due to the previous mobile home place by Atchafalaya was not placed in the standards of the Louisiana Department of Health, which is five feet from the property line. This played a major role in the delay process of getting our home placed and our family moving in. There was a tremendous amount of back and forth between us, the family next door (Vickie) and Atchafalaya Homes (Debbie (office manager) and Heather ******* (associate)). After we paid for our surveyor Debbie, the manager paid for their own surveyor to come out and received the same results it was confirmed that Atchafalaya Homes had placed Mrs. Vickie's home down incorrectly. Debbie informed us that the owner had refused what we suggested in just moving Ms. Vickie's home over along with her foundation and that would have put all into compliance. Per Debbie, the owner refused multiple times. We were told by Heather that the owner of Atchafalaya Homes decided to purchase the empty lot next to our lot because he wanted to clear his business lot of all of the older mobile homes to prepare for new inventory. So, he decided to purchase the lot next to our lot that someone had already closed on so the contractor would be able to move out foundation over a few feet. So yes, he did purchase the lot and our foCustomer Answer

We are sorry to hear about the problems you are having. When it comes to placement of the other home, you stated the owner of Atchafalaya purchased the property next to you to correct the problem for not having enough space between the homes. When it comes to the electrical lines, we are sorry it's causing problems with you being able to put up a fence. We aren't able to dig up electrical lines and move them after the home has been there for two years.
We are also sorry to hear about the soft spots and ceiling falling. You are out of warranty with us, but if you can send me the request you sent in to fix the problems that you are claiming you didn't receive, we will see what we can do to help you. After looking at the purchase agreement that you signed, I do not see the 7-year warranty on it. The salesman you used no longer works here and again I am sorry for the inconvenience.

I am rejecting this response because: The placement of the other home was placed on my property by Atchafalaya Homes and instead of correcting the mistake, they purchased the property on the opposite side of my property in order to move my home over a few feet to pass inspection. However, the land is still owned by the business and if it is sold to another buyer it will cause a conflict of boundary lines due to the mistake of the business.
Sincerely,
Jalner ******Business Response

I am sorry for the inconvenience. There are no intentions on selling the property next to you so there shouldn't be a problem. The theory that you have stated is hypothetical. The homes have been set up for 3 years now along with the property next to you has been empty.Initial Complaint

JANUARY 8, 2022 FINANCE $140,000 They committed to provide me with the home i was shown on the lot. New home. Not even a month after moving in the home. The floors started deteriorating. I called and called. Always got they will return my call. After another 2 months with out a call back. floors started getting worst. So i had no choice but to fix it myself. I paid almost $8,000. The wall sockets is all coming out the wall. I have three smaller kids. I paid for a new home for my kids to be protected from all these hazards. Cieling was leaking. They never came fixed that while it was under warranty. Bathroom have mold coming around fan due to cieling leaking. For this to be a new home! This home is falling apart and i do believe they sold us a used home. I attached fire marshal reports and all. Also if you look on attached. Manufacturer date is 9/21 and purchase date is 2/22! Thats less the 6 months to build. I believe we got scammed and not what we paid for.Business Response

Each time Mr. ********* reached out to our service department we responded. Although Atchafalaya was not found at fault for the soft floors by the Fire Marshall, the owner offered to fix the floors. Mr. ********* said no he wanted to go to arbitration. A month or two later Mr. ********* reached out again to see if the owner would still fix the floors. The homeowner was found at fault for the flooring issue-again the owner of Atchafalaya said his contractors could fix the floors. Mr. ******** had his crew of contractors do the repairs. We have all the receipts and the bill from the contractors. I also have an email from Mr. ********* stating "I can't thank you enough for taking care of my floors". I have dozens of emails which prove we reached out to Mr. ********* each time he contacted us. Mr. ********* did not repair his floors, Atchafalaya Homes had the repairs done at no expense to the *********s.Initial Complaint

We were promised a 30 day inspection and they would fix any issues with our new home they came out twice and never fixed the main problems. We have a wrecked roof corner busted walls doors that are bowed and won't close a hood vent that is broken and when we call they say their products are on back order and have snobby attitudes and hung up on us. We moved in the day before Thanksgiving last year (2022). When in the process of buying our home the sales rep transferred to a different department leaving us waiting longer on our home. The order was all wrong so the manager at the time tried to fix it then she quit and started working at a different dealer. Let's not to mention the manager at the time was profiting off comissions and she has her husband doing the concrete runners. Which we had to call our lawyer to tell them the runners were not right. The damages to the home need to be fixed and we are wanting it to be done before the end of the month of September or my husband is seeking legal actions against the dealership. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops for our brand new home to get damages fixed that were the company's fault.Business Response

I went into Atchafalaya Homes on Jan. 24,2023 to retrieve information about their mobile homes. I spoke with the Manager, Ashley ********. I explained to her before we even sat down to speak that my lease would be up at the end of February . My landlord wanted to rent with a new lease signed on March 1st. Ashley stated“ I she was the number 1 sales person and she has closed on homes in as less then 2wks and the most of 6wks.” I explained I needed to be living in my home . “” That’s not a problem” so I filled out the application and got an approval . We had a few hiccups because my income was submitted wrong, I moved into a hotel on March 1st with my daughter and my 2 fur babies. Ashly was aware of this and said it would only be …give or take two weeks. We just moved out of the hotel on May 6,2023 spending approximately 6 to 7 thousand dollars just on the hotel. Not including food. Continuing with Ashly (manager) stating “ it won’t be long) with the understanding that there is a process Ashly lied through the entire process and began crying in her office when she realized I had caught her in several lies. Our communication would be through text answering yes to me sign the document that was sent in your e-mail it’s just formality or we need that to move At this point I found out I was assigned a realtor, Noel *****. This person would only send me out listings of land to look at that’s it. When I questioned her she said “ this is all I do for you. I am a friend of Ashly and I’ve been helping her find land for her clients for a while now.” I asked to speak to the owner of Atchafalaya Homes and not one employee in that office would contact the owner. Ashly said “ I am the one who runs this place” My sale was turned over to Katie Dorsey/Doucet ( sales person) who offered to help when Ashly and I no longer communicated My closing was set for March 24,2023 at 4:00pm. on the 28th The closing was put off til next week b/c it was a possibility that I had to come out of pocket with more money. Here is the worse part. My mobile home is elevated almost 6ft in the air. It is starting to sink on one side. The AC unit, the water line, the piping for waste and electrical lines are all placed in the front of the house instead of the back. When looking for someone to build steps and an AC stand I learned that the AC had to be flushed with the trailer and that I was in an “AE” flood zone. I questioned the realtor and she said “I didn’t realize that was important. I never checked to see what flood zone it was in. I thought Ashly would do that she just ask me to send you land listings.” I questioned Ashly and she said “ No I didn’t check.” The steps ( which they call temporary 30 steps) they sent with the house are very fragile and were not long enough to get into the house. We partially moved in but he the AC unit was not working. No air for 3 days. The molding has come off of the walls, door frames, top off wall etc. The front door shows signs of someone breaking in either after being delivered or before. The main doors would not close or lock. The front door is cracked along the side not to mention the door handle is really loose . The back door swings open if it’s not locked but it also does not fit properly. We have a water leak from the island in the kitchen. When you enter the kitchen it sounds like and old old home that the floor needs to be repaired. The guest bathroom has a noise in the wall that sounds like thumping or dripping. Bathroom rug torn And the very very most annoying part is that I found out they sold me a demo home, the show home that everybody walks through when looking for a mobile home. This home has been going through wear and tear since June of 22 They said it’s normal. What can we do for you?” I responded “ I would like a new home out of inventory or one that is being built as you told me is what was taking so long.” Ashly said thats not possible so I suggest that you fill out your checklist, contact the service department and let them fix what’s damaged.” Against my knowledge when I signed the rest of the paperwork that included a letter of arbitration and a letter saying it’s a demo home. I trusted that instead of having to read over 50 pages just like what is done at every signing , car buying etc. when the salesperson says this paper is for this just initial here and sign that it’s truly what they said. Katey told her manager Ashly “ I didn’t explain the paperwork to her I just had her sign. I thought you had already gone over this with her.” Ashly stated “ I went over the packet with Katey and she was supposed to go over it with you.” Katie said but I didn’t. “ Katie also said “ I didn’t even do a final walk through with her.” so I am now stuck paying for a demo/show home which Ashly had me believing that it was taking so long cause it was being builtCustomer Answer
