I’m writing to tell let everyone know how this company operates . On 02/28/2025 my trash was not picked up everyone else who had trash was picked up the driver and crew did not pickup my can of trash. We put our trash cans by the roadside every Thursday night to be picked up on Friday’s or if there is a holiday on Saturday’s but we also put the trash out on Thursday I seen the trash truck leaving the road on 02/28/2025 went to bring my can back to my home and realized it was not picked up, I checked my mother’s can which lives across from me and her trash was picked up. I then call the company a spoke with ***** from the independence La location and was told she would contact them and have it picked up. I had her check my account to make sure that it was not an oversight on my side due to a forgotten payment, she stated no that my account was in good standing and was payed up to date. I contacted them 3 other times on 02/28/2025 and was told by ****** from the Franklinton location that she had sent ***** a email to contact me but I never received anything from her. So I called again spoke with ****** once again and was told she was emailing ***** and her supervisor too and still haven’t heard anything from anyone and my trash was never picked up.Business Response

I spoke to Mr ******** after the truck video was pulled from the route. The container was out by the road, but it's not near a mailbox with an address on it, so it looks like the fill in driver wasn't sure if it was a good account or not and it was also in an older can. The can was swapped out to a newer can and I applied a credit to the account for the week of missed service since it wasn't recovered until the next week and Mr ******** has my direct contact information now so he can let me know if he has any issues going forward.Customer Answer

I am filing this complaint regarding a billing discrepancy with AmWaste for residential trash collection services. On September 27, 2024, I signed a new service agreement with AmWaste for a quarterly trash collection rate of $60.93 and a $35.00 cart delivery fee, totaling $95.93. I paid this amount in full the same day. On September 30, 2024, I received an invoice for an additional amount of $70.44, which contradicts the terms of the original agreement I had signed and paid. I contacted ****** *******, the Office Manager at AmWaste’s Independence, LA location, to resolve the issue. She informed me that the pricing discrepancy was due to a mistake by their third-party billing provider, but I was still required to pay the higher amount. The issue was later elevated to ****** ***********, District Manager for Louisiana, but despite multiple follow-ups, the matter remains unresolved. I am seeking resolution by having AmWaste honor the original service agreement that I signed and paid for. I request that the additional charges reflected in the second invoice be canceled, as they were never part of the agreed terms. Mr *****, as discussed on the phone, the agreement you signed wasn't a contracted price agreement. It was an agreement that states you are authorizing Amwaste to set up an account for you and that the account will remain in effect until notice of cancellation is provided. It also states on all of our invoices that "this invoice may include a price increase". The quarterly price increase went into effect on 7/1/2024 and the amount of $70.44 is the new rate that will be charged each quarter. Again, I apologize that the amount shown to you wasn't correct; however, due to the verbiage that is provided on our invoices about price increase, the price of $70.44 is concrete going forward. I have attached a copy of the invoice for reference. I did speak with Dustin, and he informed me that he agreed to honor the price you were given on the initial sign up for the current quarter; however, going forward it will be the $70.44. The credit was placed on your account for you.

The amount of the credit is $9.51, which is the difference between the price seen on the site and what you were invoiced for ($70.44-$60.93). There is an approval process with credits/adjustments in our system, once that process is completed, it takes 24-48 hours for it to be reflected on the billing portal. As stated in the initial complaint response, the credit has been applied to the account so please allow 24-48 hours for it to be reflected on the billing portal.

My garbage pickup day is on Wednesday & I have 3 cans that are full of garbage. On 4/3/24 only one of my cans were picked up. My account is not past due with Amwaste & was not past due on this date. I called customer service on 4/5/24. I explained this to the representative and I was advised they submitted a request for a courtesy pickup. The pickup never occurred. It is 4/10/24 and we have reached another pickup day. Guess what my neighbors garbage got picked up but mine didn’t, mind you again my account is not past due. I immediately call customer service & explained the garbage driver came through but didn’t pickup our trash!!! The representative advised again she was submitting a request to the supervisor to have them come back out the same day. Guess what they came back out and picked up others trash and my cans were never touched. I explained to the representative that I have trash sitting in my house that I can’t take out because my cans are full. I live in a rural area so I just can’t sit the bags on my deck or outside without attracting dogs or wildlife to tear up bags and trash is in my yard. This has happened to me with this company MULTIPLE times and this is now more than a problem!!! If I am late they will QUICKLY SUSPEND my service. I have babies in my house ages 4 to 8 months and I can’t have trash piling up this is unsafe and unsanitary. I want my trash picked up, I want to be compensated for being inconvenienced and now putting my family’s health at risk, and I shouldn’t have to pay my next bill. At this point if this is not done I AM GOING TO THE MEDIA and I WILL BE CONTACTING AN ATTORNEY for action against this pathetic excuse of a company!! They can’t use Covid as an excuse because this has been a problem before Covid was a problem. I have asked to talk to Supervisors with no call back. This is beyond ridiculous!!!!!Business Response

I reside in ******** ****** on Pumpkin Center road in Hammond LA. In August 2023 my landlord informed me that we would have a change in garbage company, because of the bad service we had been receiving from Am Waste of Independence. Mr. ********* chose the new service. All the time I was receiving service from Am Waste my bill was paid through auto pay. On Sept.5 2023 my normal bill of $44.83 was taken out of my checking account. On Sept. 29th ,because of the poor service, I decided to sign up with the new company ***** ***. I called Am Waste and canceled my service with them, I received no service after that. Nothing was discussed at that time concerning a refund. After about 60 days I had not received the refund, assuming I would, I called Am Waste. The lady who answered the phone(I unfortunately did not get her name)told me that they would not be giving refunds because Mr. ********* had canceled the service and I should talk to him. Mr. ********* implied I was not the only one that they refused to give a refund to. He apologized, but said there was nothing he could do. I think I should have been told by Am Waste that if I canceled I would not get a refund.Business Response

The garbage is billed and paid for as a subscription service, 3-months at a time. If the service is cancelled within those dates, with it being a subscription, we do not do a refund unless a customer is moving outside of our service area. Amwaste continues to not pick up the garbage in my subdivision as we pay them to do. Each time they tell us to call and get credited, I have yet to be credited for misses back in July (3 Weeks in a row) and and several more since then including now last week. Amwaste requires each house to call to get a credit. I am tired of being Amwaste's quality control as to when they have failed to fulfill their end of the contract. I work, so i can't make time to call them during my working hours to let them know they didn't do something. I want them to quit stealing my money for services not rendered and to figure out a way, themselves to realize if one person calls they (not the customer) need to investigate the extent of the problem.Business Response

Called Amwaste for a large pickup ( tv box, stick and a shelf) on 4/25 and was told would be picked up on 5/2. Have called 5 times now and still not picked up. Every time I am told that is to be picked up today. Our regular sch pick up day is Tuesday. A lot of times it is Wednesday or Thursday be before it is picked up. So far this year we’ve had 6 separate instances where they will not come pick up our trash. This time, it has been 3 weeks since they have come to get our trash. I have called more than 10 times in the past 3 weeks speaking with 2 separate branches, the one in Franklinton, La and Independence, La. Yesterday o was told the operations manager was contacted and would return my call, but he has not. Today I called again and got the operation managers’s number. I gave him a call and left a message. I have not heard back yet. Each time I’m told they don’t know why they have not picked up my trash. I get no reasoning. Early this week, I was told the driver said that he did pick up my trash. He did not. Over all, no service and no reason for the delay.Business Response

I called the office, again, yesterday Monday the 19th, and spoke with the office worker. She called the driver while I waited on hold, and they looked up my address and he was directed to return and pick up my trash. I do feel that the effort made in this response was a direct result of my complaint to the BBB. I’d also like to not that this is not remotely close to the first time this has happened in the last 4 years but it is definitely the longest time without an answer. I now know, that in the future, I will have to file a complaint in order for my concern to be taken seriously.Sincerely,

I received the invoice from Am waste for the July-September trash service. I used my credit unions bill pay to automatically send a check to amwaste. The check was issued on 6/16/22. A month goes by and I received an automated call from amwaste stating I had a past due balance of $54. I checked my bank account and the check cleared and the payment was deducted from my account. I called amwaste and informed them of the situation and that I had paid per my account. They insisted they did not receive payment and to confirm with my credit union. I contacted my local credit union and they investigated the payment. After some time it was verified that Amwaste cleared the check on 6/23/22. I provided the check front and back, to amwaste via email at the beginning of August. I then received another automated call stating it was a final warning on my past due account. I have called and spoke with them attempting to reconcile this issue many times with no relief. Kayla with amwaste stated this is a common issue and that they know the corporate office is having with lost or unaccounted for payments. I then had amwaste at my house yesterday, 8/27/22 attempting to take my trash can due to lack of payment. I paid my invoice, and supplied proof of payment. In an email sent on 8/27/22 I have requested amwaste to either adjust my account balance to zero as it was paid or refund my payment as this is an issue on their end.Business Response

We spoke to Ms ******** on September 2nd and let her know that we had found the payment. The proof of payment was sent and for some reason was put into the "junk" folder, so it was never received to investigate with the proof. Ms ******** called back on the 29th of August in regards to this issue again and spoke with Tisha. Tisha forwarded the email to the Office Manager and she reached out to Kayla when she returned to work from vacation and that is when it was discovered to be in the junk mail folder. Once we seen the check, front and back, we were able to track where the payment was posted to. Ms ******** was contacted on 9/2 and we let her know that we found the payment and that it has been applied to her account and apologized for the inconvenience. She thanked us for figuring it out, but requested the account still be cancelled due to the headache of the situation. We closed the account out effective 8/1 to back date a larger credit due to the issues.Initial Complaint

I do know that driver was out last week and there were a couple of areas that weren't completed due to the fill-in driver not being aware they were on the route. I pulled the account and I do see a call in for a missed pick up for last week and one from April, but I don't see any other recent issues where it was completely missed. I will get with your driver to let him know that it wasn't serviced last week, that way we can make sure it all gets cleaned up for you. They had to go down ******** Road to get to ****** ***** Road, which they picked up but skipped ******** Road entirely! How does this make sense?
