Purchased a brand new Can Am UTV from Sawgie Bottom is late 2023. The day I brought the machine home, I had to take it back to noise coming from CVT transmission. The service department found loose hardware in the belt housing. Hardware was removed. Two days later the same noise started again, after bringing the machine back to dealer, more hardware was found. This time it had caused damages to the clutches and belt. Both clutches and belt were replaced under warranty. After clutches were replaced the machine was having belt slippage issues. I returned the machine to the dealer again to have the clutches checked as well as some other warranty work. Upon picking my machine up the dealer informed me that there were no issues with the clutches. After a short drive, I brought the machine back to the dealer due to the same clutch slippage issues. The service department insisted that it was normal. I pick my UTV up and took it to another dealership. After inspection the second dealership found that there was grease on the clutches and belt that was causing the issues. The clutches were cleaned and a new belt had to be installed. Sawgie Bottom mechanic had used grease on the belt box gasket which caused these issues. I was charged a total of $613.48 for repairs that was caused by Sawgie Bottom. I have spoken with the owner and given him the paperwork showing what was done to repair my UTV, he has refused to reimburse me the cost that was incurred due to his staff.

This customer brought the unit in complaining of the belt slipping. Upon inspection we found that the belt had been glazed due to slipping but found no other issues with the CVT system. After talking to the customer some more he informed us that the belt was slipping when accelerating heavily from a dead stop. We informed the customer that this is not the intended method of operation for the CVT system. We recommended that the clutches should be cleaned and the belt replaced. He declined the work we recommended and insisted that it had to be a mechanical issue with the clutches. The customer picked the unit up without allowing us to complete the recommended repair. Thereafter the customer informed us that he had taken the unit to another dealer and presented us with an invoice showing the same work we had recommended. We informed him that we would not reimburse him for that invoice since he did not allow us to perform the repair we recommended. That invoice also included the cost of regular maintenance on this unit which has nothing to do with his complaint.
