When we first started looking at the neighborhood Champion was building, we asked if there was an HOA, and stated that we were not interested in building if there was one. We were told that there was no HOA. A year and a half later we found out they had lied to us and there was one. Not only was there an HOA, but language referencing an association was on the deed when Champion purchased the land and was no longer on the deed that we received. They had also told us that the road would eventually be accepted as a public road by the town, neglecting to tell us that the deal the town made with the developer was that the homeowners would take care of the road. When confronted about this, Champion claimed they disclosed a written document that there was an HOA, which is not true. Champion was also unprofessional, especially when it came to responding to emails or phone calls. We would have to reach out multiple times in order to get an answer or to have them come out. It took months of unreturned emails to get them to finally get through most of the punchlist. There were things that we stopped asking about in an effort to prioritize. Many shortcuts were taken with the building of our house.Our yard was in bad shape when we moved in. They had barely watered it. The front was sod, and it was pretty much ***** all over. It took hours of moving hoses around each day for weeks to bring it back. The back yard was hydro seed. They had just put a sprinkler in the middle of the yard for awhile each day. So the middle had huge puddles and dead seed. The rest was just burned out dead seed. We eventually had to pay someone else for all new topsoil and seed to get a back yard.Our garage floor was gouged up before we moved in. Champions fix for this was to sloppily patch up the spots. Theyre an entirely different color and so large as to be quite obvious. At one point we were finally about to have the painter come back to fix all of the nail pops, but he never showed. So we had to reschedule yet again. The outside painter was scheduled to come at a different time, and they also did not come when they were supposed to. In both cases there was no communication that no one would show. They just didnt come. We had an inspector come out right before we closed, who found many things we wouldnt have known about that needed to be fixed. If you choose to use Champion, get everything in writing and definitely hire an inspector.
