Ideal Pools seemed very friendly on my intake call and mentioned the previous owner of my home had gone to them for a quote so they were familiar with my pool and happy to support a local business, I asked them to open my pool for the summer. I was quoted $385 for a pool opening and an additional $75 for vacuuming the pool as well. On the day they came, they gave me no information besides saying that the pool was a little short on water and to fill it about a foot more and that they could not open the pool until that was done. This was no problem. The day they came back, they vacuumed my pool and then left and noted in my email and invoice the following: "Pool Vacc'd. Can't run the system because strainer housing has multiple cracks and leaks. Like I said in a previous note, the system left out all winter and not winterized. Don't know if anything else is broken. The filter system is a clear water system from Naamco in which we do not carry any parts for. Would recommend buying a new system at this point. The water level needs to come up about 1 to the next screw. Job completed "You can understand my shock when I thought why did they not tell me this? And furthermore why are they charging me an invoice of $550? I thought maybe they made a mistake and added the vacuuming, until I received a separate invoice for that for $75. I was told afterwards that the costs are due to removing a pool cover incurred a labor fee (which I could obviously have very easily done myself) and I still have to pay because "all other services were rendered" yet the first line item is "pool opening $385" despite not being possible with my equipment. Needless to say, getting charged $620 for a pool they cannot open (but they vacuum... anyway?) was not stellar. They were not helpful or understanding, so it felt like a very "got you!" situation. Be very cautious when choosing a servicer especially as a new owner and try to ask many questions to understand what job is being done and what you're paying for.
