FIND ANOTHER DEALER! I can't speak to the Sheehy brand in general, but buying a car at the Laurel location has been a disaster. Prior to signing over the money, they assured me repeatedly they would take care of everything and that my experience would be great. After signing over the money, they have not lived up to 4 separate assurances. Beware, they are the stereotype of what you dread about used car dealerships.Review from Adam T

Initially, things went well with Nick Teye, the salesperson. He was knowledgeable and helpful, guiding me through options and negotiating the price. However, everything went downhill when it was time to close the deal with Jordan Jenkins. I began negotiating the price on June 17th and returned on June 21st to finalize the purchase. Jordan unexpectedly added $2000 to the agreed price and tried to justify it. When I questioned the extra charge, he became defensive and visibly unhappy. Jordan’s behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. He entered my information and the vehicle's purpose incorrectly. When I asked for corrections, he accused me of being overly demanding. During our interaction, Jordan was constantly distracted by phone calls and texting on two phones, creating a chaotic environment. His multitasking was unprofessional and disrespectful. While signing the documents, he grew impatient and insisted I just sign without reading them thoroughly. When I asked him to explain what I was signing, he rudely stated, “It’s all in the email I sent you, there’s nothing more to say.” After this rough and intimidating experience, he hurriedly handed me the documents on a flash drive and led me outside for additional signatures. He passed some papers to a person in an open cubicle and disappeared back into his office, leaving me waiting for Nick to finalize everything. When I sought further clarification, I found Jordan in his office, eating and ignoring me. He locked his door and pretended not to see me until I knocked. His response was painfully rude: “What do you want?” If you have the option, I strongly recommend looking at other Toyota dealers. If you must go to Sheehy Toyota of Laurel, avoid Jordan Jenkins or ensure you have witnesses and thoroughly check the price he quotes. My experience left me feeling disrespected and undervalued as a customer.Review from jeanne c

I have yet to receive a title, Many emails and calls, to Sheehy Toyota in Laurel which I was referred to my State DMV in WVA, They informed me the only time a title was mailed to them was if there were a lien , and there is no lein. It has yet to be resolved, All I have gotten is erroneous information. It is now moving onto May. Does This car have a valid title or are they selling untitled carsSheehy Toyota Of Laurel Response

As explained to the guest, in order to process out-of-state vehicle registration, we must utilize a third-party processor. For West Virginia residents, the registration application is processed online by this third-party company. However, registration, license plates and titles are still issued by WV DMV once the registration application is submitted online by the third-party processor. As of May 7, 2024, the vehicle is properly registered with the state of West Virginia. However, the West Virginia DMV will send the registration and/or license plates directly to the address listed on the application in approximately one month. The guest has been provided this update. Sheehy Toyota of Laurel’s involvement with the out-of-state registration of this vehicle is now concluded. Any further inquiries regarding the status of title/registration/license plates should be made to the WV DMV.Review from Mathew T

Terrible experience. Was shopping for a used car. After about two hours we picked a “pre-certified” Toyota Corolla. Even started negotiating the price, only to be informed that the car we picked was not “pre-certified.” The manager offered no apologies for wasting our time, and rudely offered to do the “pre-certification” for “free” and at no additional cost to the buyer, and was condescending. Never experienced such bad customer service.Review from Spencer W

his location’s customer service has been an absolute nightmare! They say car buying in your early 20s is swimming with sharks, and I now understand. The way the employees like Deborah, Newton, Shawn, and other managers at Sheehy Toyota of Laurel have communicated with me so condescendingly has been appalling. The title work on my car has been incorrect for over 4 months. I have been reaching out for help in person, through email and many phone calls , and received incorrect tags and titles throughout the process even though our paperwork is correct. Through many turns and phone calls, this location has held my title hostage and not completed their contract for over 5 months of me having the vehicle. When I reached my breaking point, I contacted Toyota’s Headquarters, but quickly was told that this Toyota dealer is independently owned. They have no control other than being a central directory for phone calls. Deborah ***, in specific, was designated to oversee and communicate with me on behalf of Toyota Sheehy of Laurel. In the end of my interaction today, she told me that she is “not a psychic” after being asked if I could pick up my 5 MONTH LATE TITLE today! She spoke as if I was an inconvenience to her after asking for what other solutions besides returning my property after months and months of waiting they would see appropriate for my situation… I could give countless other examples of asking for managers contact information and never receiving it, or being BULLIED for months by countless employees, and then being told by a Deborah that repetition of these actions “is not bullying”. I rarely leave reviews for any location, but to stay silent and not acknowledge the multiple employees and unprofessional actions committed within my experience for others to hear would be immoral. If you’re looking for a location to buy a car and patronize, I strongly encourage you to consider other Toyota dealers.Review from sam r

Terrible all around! DO NOT GO HERE!!! MY RATING IS BELOW ONE STAR!!!!! 1.) When I tried to test drive and purchase a car - they were rude and just didn't care if I was being helped or not. 2.) I purchased a used Honda at their other location and they were ok in Gaithersburg. 3.) I purchased the car service package but took my Honda to the Laurel location and they are terrible because they have NO CLUE how to service other cars beyond Toyotas. Dumby me, I gave them THREE chances and every single time, there was an issue with my car AFTER the service of mere oil change and tire rotation.Review from Jordan A

I wanted to come test drive a specific car listed online at a specific price through ********. I received a call asking if I could come a day early, and couldn’t. Which would have been fine, but the car was not even ready for a test drive when I arrived, and this is because they list cars on their website before they’re ready to sell. They hadn’t seemed to convey to the salesperson I was scheduled to meet that the appointment was to test drive a specific car. They also did not include the service charge or tax in the price which made the price 2000$ more. It was all a very disingenuous way to run business. Maybe that’s normal for car sales but it absolutely shouldn’t be. I called later to place a complaint with customer service and they had a manager handle the call who did not have the ego for customer service complaints. He was not able to handle my tone even though I apologized in advance for it because I knew I was calling to complain and that most of the problems seemed to be with their policies rather than any one staff members’ mishandling the sale. He explained their policies well after he got offended by my tone, but eventually said you don’t have to buy here if you don’t like the way we run our business. I can’t help but think, what about the people who don’t have time or relatives to help them avoid being suckered? I expected some dishonesty and misleading behavior from a car dealership, but even my father who I brought with me to help was shocked by the unprofessional way this was handled at the purchase. If this is how sheehy operates I can only conclude they’ve achieved their chain through preying on the desperate and ignorant.Review from Pran B

I am writing to you about an extremely negative experience my Mother and I had on Saturday, December 3rd between 1:30-5pm EST at the Sheehy Laurel Toyota automobile dealership. In summary, we spent 3.5 hours deciding on a car, discussing a trade-in, filling out tons and tons of paperwork (and providing tons of personal / financial information), having our credit checked (and credit scores compromised, as a result) and waiting for over an hour alone after all of that was done only to be told casually that the car we had agreed to buy was suddenly - out of the blue - unavailable to purchase and the 'deal' was off and there was nothing more to be done. The way in which this was handled at the 11th hour (so to speak) - with very little explanation other than 'bad news. Enterprise just bought your car. Sorry.' was arguably the most shocking and disappointing part, having been a 25-year long Toyota Camry driver and consumer, and a Sheehy-loyal customer for at least a decade. The excuse / reason is what it was. Assuming that was the truth. That said, there has to be a better way to not waste potential consumers' precious time and be able to detect - much sooner in the process - if the automobile itself had a pending sale from any other buyer - in or outside the dealership. That all said, we have strong reason to believe that the dealership manager(s) were actively practicing price discrimination - and finding one way or another not to sell me / my mother a vehicle on Saturday. This may be legal or illegal in the State of Maryland, but either way it's at very least unethical and consumer-unfriendly.Sheehy Toyota Of Laurel Response

I first want to apologize to you for what happened here on Saturday. This is the first I am hearing of it, and I would like the opportunity to make this right. Your mother and you are valued customers here at Sheehy. Please reach out to me at your earliest opportunity at XXX-XXX-XXXX. The Camry that you had wanted to buy was already sold, I am not sure how and why this was not communicated right away, and the car was not moved off our lot. I apologize for all of the miscommunication and how all of this was handled. Please reach out to me so I can assist you in improving this situation.Review from Sean S

Tried to purchase a ****** ********* While negotiating the final sales price I am told they don't add any "extra fees" to the MSRP however, when they provided the walk out the door price they added an additional $6000 in options for interior care, exterior care and a maintenance plan. I was told by the new car manager Shawn R***** these plans are local and are mandated by Mr. Vincent A. S*****. I informed Shawn R***** I didn't want the plans and we will have a deal for the sale of the vehicle without the plans. Mr. R***** informed me they could not sale the vehicle without the plans. S***** Toyota say they don't have a "mark-up" however, they use their options as their mark-up. Needless to say. I did not purchase the car.Sheehy Toyota Of Laurel Response

Ms. ****** we appreciate the opportunity to look into this further for you. In order for the repair to be covered under warranty, we had to reach out to Toyota directly to have them examine the issue and let us know their findings in order to determine the next steps to be able to resolve this for you. After further review by Toyota, as you mentioned, they determined that the damage was not caused by the operation of the sunroof, but rather by some outside influence. Unfortunately this repair is therefore not covered under warranty, per Toyota, and it was recommended that you reach out to your insurance company for replacement coverage. We understand your frustration, however, we are simply passing along Toyota's findings to you. We certainly want nothing more than to be able to assist you with this repair so that this can be fixed for you as quickly as possible. If you have any further questions, or if we can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly anytime. Thank you.

I sent $1125.00 to Sheehe Toyota in Laurel, MD on 4/29/21 for an Extended Maintenance Contract per Paul P. They never sent me a copy of the contract. After talking to a Mike, Sean, and Deborah, etc., no one would help or didn't know anything about it. I filed with BBB and as soon as they heard, Paul P. called me appologizing. One was mailed to me within a couple days. I need work on my car now and apparently according to Kim M. it is not in the system and the copy I emailed her, didn't look valid. She said she "doesn't have time to waste on this". She didn't want to "waste another departments time either". She said if she finds the time, she will call me next week. I have not heard from her. My car is getting worse and I'm afraid to drive it now. She knows this.
