We hired Certified Quality Construction to perform construction/carpentry work on a property we owned. We requested on numerous occasions that they supply us with their insurance information, (which they claim to have on their website and letterhead, as well as in numerous telephone conversation), however they have refused all requests to do so. He will claim that he was not paid the total amount identified, however, all checks have cleared and can easily be produced.

I had several issues with ******* the owner. He refused to pay some of the balance that was due at the time. He stated to me that he refused to pay the remaining balance. He was very unprofessional, threatening me while on the job, and calling me every name in the book. I tried to reason with him; but he refused to be rational. Shortly, after the job I was caught in a house fire, spent 4 days in coma. My house and all records were destroyed.

I am rejecting this response because:

While I am sorry that he was involved in any type of fire or health issue, this has nothing to do with the fact that his business carried insurance or it did not.  If he did not, then he is engaging in false advertising as his letterhead and documentation states that he is insured.  If he is, then he is obligated to supply me with the information.  There was approx. $72,000. paid to him and the issue was that he claimed he did work that was not completed and, therefore, he was fired from the job.  It is a simple solution, supply me with the information requested.

    Sincerely,

    ***** ********

I am still owed money from this client. I had someone that was listening to the finally call, I had with *******. He continued to lie and say derogatory comments and threatening me and my company. He stated, he was a millionaire and can do what he wants and ruin companies as he pleases. I have a great reputation in the past 30 yrs.; but these people were the worst customers I have ever done work for in my 30 yrs. He stated, he would ruin my company's reputation.; if I proceed to collect the remaining balance. I hung up on him because of his rude unprofessional behavior. He lied to his realtor on a matter on a 3-way call that I was on, too. He refused to pay a portion of the balance because he stated he paid enough and needed to make money on the house; he was flipping. He knew there was additional work that needed to be completed, refused to pay for it. My house is burnt down with all my items and records. This project was done a year ago. Any businesses, companies or other customers that I do work for ask for a copy of the insurance; prior to starting the work.; NOT a year later; after completion of the job. We were on this job all winter, nothing was asked for a copy of insurance, or I would have provided it at that time, not a year after the job is completed. I have proof from the fire chief and other officials that my house is condemned, due to the fire. There was nothing that was saved. I do not remember the insurance provider at all. If, I did remember or have my records, it would have been received. I spent 4 days in a coma and 2 months of rehab. I suffer from *********** and scars inside of my lungs. This is why I had to continue asking her when I finally remembered, I realized this customer still owed money and refused to pay for work completed, and his unprofessional behavior. I told her about the fire and situation. Now, she wants to take this step; maybe I should take the next step and obtain my money owed to me and the derogatory comments; which I can receive compensation for! I have 2 witnesses to the fact of his derogatory comments and untrue statements. I CAN NOT provide something that I do not have anymore! IT IS IN ASHES!
