When my husbands grandchild was born, in ****, I gave my contact information to get information about gerber life insurance. I never signed up for any services. It is now eight years later, and Ive moved three times and yet somehow Im STILL getting correspondence in the mail from them. How do they know Ive been moving and how do they know where Ive moved to??? It is unsettling and need them to stop already.Business Response

My mother passed away 11/23/2024. We filed the claim through the funeral home 2/21/2025 via fax, at least one Gerber *** informed. The delay was due to not knowing my mother had this insurance. The next delay was due to the funeral home owner forgetting to send the request. Several phone calls have been made to Gerber to rectify. First of all. My son is the first beneficiary and I am 2nd listed on her policy. My son works the hours Gerber is open so I have been handling all my moms affairs. All documents requested by Gerber have been submitted on 3/20/2025. This was the beginning of the 15 days of review. 15 days have passed and now Gerber is requesting an autopsy ***ort which I have no access too. I just would **** to grieve in peace and settle this issue with her benefits being paid out. Just a side note they were informed of my mom's passing in December of 2024. This is an accidental policy and my mother died of an accident.Business Response

My mother's name is ***** ******. Nothing is being resolved. No phone calls are being made. No emails are being sent. No faxes are being sent. This is not being expedited to stay within the time frame Gerber said it would take. 15 days. This is well over ***************************************************************************** Day 15 Gerber requested more info that I do not have access to. They want me to respond in a separate email and not on this platform.

Thank you for the additional information needed to identify the policy referenced in the original concern raised. The request to send that information to us directly is due to the BBB being a public site and wanting to protect personal information from being posted publicly. The referenced policy is an Accident Policy. On November 25, 2024, we were advised that the insured passed away due to a heart attack. On March ******, we were advised that death certificate listed it as an accident. On March 20, 2025, we received the completed claim form, death certificate,authorization and obituary. We are currently waiting to receive a copy of the coroners report and to talk to the responding police agency involved. Once these items have been obtained/completed, we will be able to complete our review for the claim filed.
We send our condolences to you and your family during this time. We also appreciate your patience as we work through the review and obtaining the necessary documentation.

I have been trying to cancel a policy that I started for my son, 29 years ago. Up until last year, it was all of my info, not my son's, and they told me he would have to do it. It took them almost a year to put the policy information all in his name. I've been trying to do this since he was 18. I've been charged this whole time for the payments, but they won't give me any rights to it. He has been actively trying to cancel for almost 6 months now. There is always an excuse as to why he cannot do this. They will not even contact us to tell us there is an issue, they just keep charging money. We cannot even view the paperwork that we returned, for they won't load it to show us. Everything has been cleared from the end service account, it's marked as canceled, it says we owe money on this canceled policy, and we can no longer do anything policy related on the site. We just want to cancel and all they keep doing is charging payments. I have made 6 months of payments during **** cancelation process.Business Response

No one answers any of the phone numbers listed on their website. Today alone, 3/21/25, I have tried to call each number listed throughout the day and no one answers. I've sent emails & all I get back are automated responses with no resolutions.The site will not allow me to cancel the policy online even though it gives you that option. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the technical issues with our phone lines on March 21st. Typically, we are available by phone Monday through Friday from 8 am to 7 pm Eastern Standard Time.
On March *******, we received an email expressing concerns about not being able to contact us by phone and requesting a cancellation of the policy. The policy was removed from automatic billing, and a Surrender Request form was emailed that day for completion and return. We require a signed form to process the cancellation request. To date, we have not received the completed surrender form back and have included another form in our direct response letter mentioned above.

We have been receiving telemarketing calls violating the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act for the past six months to a year. We estimate that there has been over 100 of these calls. These calls consistently advertise "final expense" insurance. I answered one of the latest calls on 2/25. I "played along" to make the caller think I was interested, with the hopes of determining the identity of the caller. I was transferred to Gerber Life Insurance. I recorded the call, as is allowed by AZ state law. I reached out to Gerber, with an interest in resolving the matter, but after initial contact, have been ignored. At this point, I need to speak to Gerber's ATTORNEY or LEGAL REPRESENTATION to discuss resolution. It should be noted that simply "taking my number off their list" will NOT suffice. If no resolution satisfactory to myself is reached, I will be taking legal action to recover damages as allowed by 47 *** 227(b)(3), and Arizona State Law. It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved without such action.Business Response

I went to get a life insurance policy from them. The person I talked with told me that the policy she was selling me covered heart attacks and strokes. I called back the next day to verify it with someone else. I was told no it doesn't that its a accident ********* the lady the day before hand lied to me just to sell a policy. I told them they are cancel it out before it gets started that they don't have my permission to charge my card in any way. That policy is not what I'm looking for and I was lied the day previously about it's contents. I was told that it was canceled out and I wouldn't be charged. They charged my credit card this morning. The policy was issued effective September 11, 2024 and a copy of the policy was sent to you at that time and had a 30 Day Right to Examine Policy period.
On January ******, we received an email request to cancel the policy. We responded the same day and provided you with a cancellation form which is needed to cancel the policy.
On January 15, 2025, we also received an email from you saying that you would like to continue Anthonys policy and change the due date to the 26th of the month. We updated your due date to the 26th and sent you a confirmation email the same day.
We have used the BBB inquiry at this time as a written cancellation form to complete your request. Since the policy was cancelled after the 30 Day Right to Examine Policy period, a full refund of premium paid in is not available. The policy provided a benefit during the time premiums were paid and if a death had occurred during that time, the benefit would have been paid to the beneficiary.

I found an insurance policy on my daughter taken out by my mother. She is not the care giver or my daughters guardian. She has stolen my daughters information and SS number as well as my information. The Grow-Up plan in question gives the policyholder the opportunity to purchase this coverage which provides life insurance for the child at a lower rate than they would be able to purchase as an adult. The Grow-Up plans face amount doubles when the insured turns eighteen, accumulates cash value over time, and provides for the purchase of additional coverage by the insured without evidence of insurability. Under the Grow-Up plan it is expected that the child insured will later take over the ownership of the policy and take advantage of the life insurance coverage it provides. Gerber Life considers the Grow-Up plan an important step in securing the financial future of the insured.
