I had to go to court of course for a debt. I went to court and was told call and set up payment plan with stenger and stenger. I was also told if I failed to pay on arrangement then garnishment would be put into effect. I called to set up payment arrangements and was basically blackmailed into payment agreement which I did not and which crippled me financially to avoid garnishment that would have been worse. I was not trying to avoid paying it but to cripple me financially is ridiculous and most people in my position if we had the money to pay it would never get to court but to be treated the way their representative treated me was ludicrous and demeaning, none of which was necessary to get your payment. I hope I NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!Review from Christian L

Stenger and Stenger is nothing but Sharks they will try to eat you alive they don't care what your situation is You can be homeless and they will still try to take everything you have! They will figure out one way or another to get Money from you even if the debt Is over 7yrs old and does not belong to you (As I tried to explain) THEY DO NOT CARE as long as they bleed to dry and take your last! This company needs to be reviewed..Our government needs to step in and see exactly how this company is running!!! A bunch of Hyenas work here. God Help them !Review from Wayne C

This is a horrible bill, collector company, who does not follow federal and state laws. I have sent them letters of cease and desist, and they did not follow them. I have asked for certain documents that they did not provide yet they still *** and attempt to garnish, wages. I wish nothing but for this company to stop doing business and be liable for their actions.Review from Kim D

***************** hell-bent on getting as much as they can out of you, representing a predatory company who bought a debt that was charged off 5 1/2 years ago. Called to discuss a settlement instead of dealing with a garnishment and the first representative was decent, answered all my questions and told me I could take up to 24 months to pay the debt. Would not take a reduced settlement unless it was one lump payment, which I could not pay. I wanted to sleep on it, research options and determine best way to move forward. He said I had time to do that. I called back 6 days later and talked to a different person who was cold and aggressive and totally contradicted what the first person told me. Finally when I was in tears she agreed to the 24 month repayment plan term. Said things like "we don't HAVE to do this, we could just garnish and get this over with in 3-4 months", and said the first person I spoke with shouldn't have said what he did, blah blah blah. She told me the $350 a month they wanted was based on the company "budget" formula, which didn't take into account things like car payment, medical bills, etc. She said a car was considered a "luxury". Well, my "luxury" **** is essential for my job, and without it, I can't pay you unethical idiots. Totally manipulative and trained to get as much as they can as fast as they can, your budget and other financial obligations be damned. I hope you can sleep at night and hope you're never in need of compassion and understanding. I'd give you a zero star review if possible.Review from MARK R

I was informed by my employer that my wages were garnished by Stenger and Stenger for a debt I allegedly owed LVNV. I had tried to contact LVNV twice through certified mail with no response. They garnished my tax return which more than covered the amount, then they garnished my wages on top of that. I contacted them and they told me it was for a credit card opened in 2013 and defaulted on in 2016. I did not have this credit card. I never received any proof of this debt from LVNV or Stenger and Stenger. I called Stenger several times wanting to know how I was going to get a refund for the double payment. All I was told is to wait for the courts to authorize it. It took months to get it straightened out. It seems shady to me that I got sued for a credit card I didn't have and they didn't have to provide me with any proof.Review from Lebert R

We agreed to a settlement through our attorney, when we made the payment they canceled the first payment and had us do a second one. They then processed the first payment probably hoping we wouldn’t notice but it was a large some and now have nothing to pay the bills. They told us the best they could do is 45-60 days for a refund. These are scum of the earth that don’t deserve the air they breathe. These crooks should be locked up. After harassing us with nonstop phone calls now they won’t answer our calls. This group needs to be shutdown, they’ve been sued several times for illegal practices.Review from Kimberly H

Stenger & Stenger garnished my paycheck as well as my state income tax return for an old debt. I owed it and was fine with the garnishment, not crazy about it but it is what it is and it was not for a lot of money. After garnishing my state income tax return there was a surplus of just over $200. I called 3/27 to ask about it and was told they hadn’t actually gotten the money yet so to call back. I called 5/2 & was told the case was closed and paid in full and my refund was to be sent within 30-45 days. I called today, 6/8 and now am being told that the check was created yesterday and then it is 45-60 days before I get my refund check. This is really shady business practice. Imagine how many people this is done to and they keep excess funds not belonging to them and are paid bank interest for 45-60 days! I’m just confused how such shoddy, almost loneshark-like type practices are allowed.Review from Sarah C

Awful company I called like 3 weeks ago and told them the court needed a satisfactory letter sent to them that our account was settled back on April 16, 2021. We didn’t even know about this until we are now trying to close on a house. I’ve called several times and they said to call back in 10 business days so I did on April 10, 2023 and they said they were still working on it and said to call in a couple of days so I called again today April 12, 2023 and the lady claims she sent the lawyer an email now to try and get it faster. I told them we we’re trying to close on a house next week. We can’t do this until they take care of this with the court. I also told them that our two youngest kids are special needs adults and we can’t be out in the street with them. I’ve been so upset and crying from the stress. Both my husband and I have high blood pressure and other health problems and they are and have just continued to add more stress, seriously this should not be such a long drawn out issue. I gave them the court fax number too. Please God help.
