System was installed 3 years ago, never worked like promised, every year system continues to produce less. Was told this would eliminate my electric **** ******* most of the summer and 40% in the winter. This year my electric bills are more than the solar payments, now I have two bills instead of one like what was promised.Initial Complaint

2 years ago I signed up with Climax Solar and had solar panels installed on my barn roof. The first issue I had was terrible communication, they installed it when nobody was home and there was problems with installation(ran into septic pipe). The next issue i had was we were connected to consumers and feeding energy back but only getting a credit of $60 a month for maybe 3 months out of the year the rest of the year is much lower credit if any at all. And we lose power if electricity goes out, we don't have battery storage. Its just not worth it. The first year we were only charged $15 a month for panels. What i didn't know until year 2 is that I didn't pay enough to qualify for the $168 a month I originally agreed to. Now its $219 a month. The total cost is a $50,000 loan that I can no longer afford. They panels are pretty much useless to me. That price is outrageous for a system without batteries. I only got to see the digital contract once I was already signed up. So I spoke to them with my concerns and they are unwilling to help. I want to cancel the service and for them to take these panels back. They are no longer answering my calls or emails. I feel like I got scammed and I'm stuck paying for it for the next 23 yearsInitial Complaint

Entered contract with Climax Solar ("CS") on 1/14/2022. Solar panels were installed and we had working system for 2022 and 2023. By May/June 2024 system was no longer producing. Contacted SC customer service after speaking with Enphase, and was told SC was working on issue. Reached out again to Enphase in August 2024 and was provided the following to forward to SC: "This is ***** with Enphase. This response is for case number ******** for site ******* - Duchon2001.get an installer onsite to check trunk cable , jbox and fuse due voltage readings are showing 260v." In other words, the wiring and inverters were not producing due to too high of voltage readings. It was also verified that we have a 25 year warranty on the system until 2047. With no answer from SC I called and left a message that I would be filing with BBB unless I heard from them. Received a call who told me a repair person is scheduled, but not until September. I have tried to call to find out the date, and no one answers, phone appears turned off. We have a $44,000 solar system that is not working, a warranty that is not being addressed, and no answers. Just found out ** filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2024. Please refund our full amount so we can have this system removed.Initial Complaint

Bought solar panels and they have never produced much in the way of back up energy. Right now after more than a year I'm still 96% dependant on the electric grid.Initial Complaint

When we purchased our panels we were told that we would be over 90% grid independent and that would have at max a $40-50 bill in the winter due to the credit we would be earning during the summer. We have yet to see that after having the panels for 2 years. We did add an "extra" 12 panels to try and combat our power usage based on 12 months of billing from our electric company. So we are now making 2 loan payments and still have an electric bill. It is costing us nearly 2x as much as it was without the panels. Trying to get calls back when YOU need help is nearly impossible if it will cost the company money. But they will call back right away when you need something done that will cost you money and not the company. They wanted $1000 to spend ***** minutes connecting our panels back to the main line. We had someone else do it for $100Customer Answer

The phone number for the company is "temporarily out of service". Email or in person is the only way to contact them. They never respond to emailsInitial Complaint

My wife and I purchased solar panels through Climax Solar. They promised us that we purchased a large enough system that we should only pay around $50.00 in the winter when there is the least amount of sunlight. We spend more money now between the solar payment and the consumers payment than we did prior to the installation of solar. I have reached out to them and they asked to wait for 12 months of service, which I did. They asked to have copies of all of our bills, which I sent. There was no follow up and they stopped responding to me. I feel that we were lied to about the system and that we have been defrauded. We so badly wanted this system to work as described to us during our consultation but it has not. At this point I feel that either correcting our solar system to work as promised or to remove the solar system and refund the remaining balance on our solar loan seem like the only reasonable resolutions.Initial Complaint

Climax Solar has failed time and time again to complete the job. They installed new solar panels a stand by generator and and a new 200 amp panel in my house. The generator is not to code The exhaust is less then 5 beer from a window opening During the install they damaged the automatic transfer switch and have yet to come come out and replace it with a new one this was 6 months ago since then we have had 3 power outage and not been able to use our generator. The main panel they installed without a permit I had to rewire a portion of it as it was wrong and things were not hooked up On top of this they didnteven bother to label the breakers which is another code violation. I filed the same complaint a few months ago and they promise to get right on it and get it fixed and yet they still havent.Initial Complaint

My solar panels are not performing as expected nor as quoted in the contract. Even when they are performing, my system is telling me that energy is being imported and exported by them. I don't understand how I can still be using the electric from the electric company while my panels show that they are generating energy that surpasses what I'm using on a particular day. At this time, I do not feel that I am saving any money each month rather, all I'm doing is spending it. I would appreciate the owner of the business contacting me and going over the contract to help me understand if I'm just not understanding something about the power generation each month. Otherwise, if it is an error on the company's part, I would hope that they could adjust what my overall loan amount is as I don't feel that these panels were worth the amount that I paid for them in their current state.Initial Complaint

Solar system installation has been a nightmare, poor workmanship on things like backfilling of trenchs, direct buried wires which are now defective, i paid for a smart switch of which i never received, tried contacting them several times no response. Im looking for compensation for the smart switch i never received and labor and material to rebury new wire. Looking for 5000$ for cost of smart switch, labor and material to replace underground wire.Business Response

I have been trying to get Climax Solar to finish a proper installation since the beginning of June. It turns out the panels were never mapped out correctly despite a trip out to my home to gather serial numbers right off the panels and correct it. I do have a failed panel and due to improper installation when Climax came out to replace it, they replaced a working panel. Unfortunately, they replaced a working panel with a panel that was the incorrect size. Then when they corrected their mistake a second panel failed. Now I have two failed panels and a system that cannot be monitored or serviced correctly because of an improper installation. After begging for help for months the owner claimed they are not an ** installer anymore and cannot help. I explained the brand of panels does not determine how they are laid on my roof. There has been no response from the owner, customer service reps or management. I reached out again to inquire how my ** battery would be installed when available. There has been no response on this. I inquired about a mediation meeting with Climax Solar because this is what was directed in my contract. There has been no response. Now I am concerned if I will never get the $12,000 battery I have purchased. I even offered to have it installed myself. No response. At this point all I want is a properly installed and working system and a refund for the battery I had purchased. Even if this ends up being a warranty issue, ** has continued it's 25 year product, performance and labor warranty. I remined them of this and even gave access to forms and contacts on filing a claim to get paid. I really do not want to go to the news, court or mediation. I just want what was paid for.
