A incident that comes to mind most is when I was team driving and training a co worker while over the road. I was sleeping and the other person was driving. The trailer brakes ended up catching fire and I had to go out and put them out with an extinguisher and have the tire changed after the tire blew up. At this time it was DOT inspection week and brakes were the main focus of inspections. I assumed that I would he instructed to take the truck and trailer to the closest truck stop to have the brakes checked. I advised *********************** that the road repair guy reported heat damage and other issues with the trailer and brakes. *********************** was aware of my location and that flag staff mountains were ahead of my path. **** instructed me to drive through the mountains **************** and pick up and they would fix the issues in ********! Let me say this to those reading! ***************** response is not okay. As a company first priority should be drivers safety and *********************** did not have that in his mind at all at the time. Clearly his pocket book was more important.I explained to ********** wasnt comfortable not having the brakes checked and he decided I wasnt worth the time to respond too. So he didnt even respond to my texts.Luckily I took the truck to a repair shop where I was informed that the repair mans opinion was if I drove through flag staff mountain with the brakes fried and the tire blown that he found. I would possibly have not made it through the mountains.I was irate. But I kept my cool.As a new driver. Neither me nor the guy being trained should have had to have went through that. What would have happened if wed have died?
