Flagstar is a horrible bank to deal with!!! They merged with **** and everything went to shit!!Their online banking sucks!! After the merger, I couldn't get logged in for 2 weeks!! It took forever to get a customer service agent on the phone and when I did, she didn't have a clue as to how to help me!! And why do they have so many breaches!!! I shouldn't have to worry about my personal information being hacked from a bank!! What kind of IT **** do you have?? Why are these breaches happening?? I don't feel that my information or my money is safe with Flagstar. Their hold policy is also ridiculous!! They put holds on checks that they didn't use to put holds on. Their computers are slow and I've even heard the tellers complain about how slow the computers are. They apparently don't care about their employees either because they let go of so many of them since the merger!! They are probably better off not working at Flagstar. I'm closing my accounts after ********************** with them for 18 years!!! I truly hope they go under!!!Flagstar Bank

During underwriting, I received multiple requests for documentation that I had already provided. The requests trickled in one at a time, rather than a comprehensive list of what I needed to provide. I had to explain some of the documents to the originator and/or processor, because they kept insisting that I had not paid a particular creditor off. They also wanted to have my car loan paid off through the *****, instead of me paying it off myself, which would have meant a higher interest cost for me. It took a very long time to get to closing, and I had to reach out several times to ask about the status. On the day of closing, the paperwork indicated that I was taking a large draw at closing. This was not true and had not been approved by me. We had to delay closing while the paperwork was redone. I was initially told that Flagstar would pay all closing costs, if I kept the ***** open for 3 years. During the closing, I received notice that I would have to pay some closing fees. We paused and the closing attorney and I reached out several times to the originator and processor, without a response. We waited for over an hour. I finally received a call from someone else who said that Flagstar would not pay the fees as promised. I am very disappointed by this experience, and I would not recommend Flagstar.Flagstar Bank

Beware of this banks outdated and inconvenient policies!I opened a 5-month ** in October 2024, and the funds were electronically transferred from my bank to fund the account. However, when the ** matured in January 2025, I requested the funds be returned the same way they were withdrawnelectronically. Shockingly, the bank refused and insisted on sending a check via ****, despite this being a substantial sum of money.I spoke with **** and her manager, ****, on 1/30/25, but received no resolution. When I called back, customer service representative ***** at least provided an alternative: I could request overnight delivery via *** or ***** at my expense. However, even this option required an approval process that would take several daysthough I was assured it would fall within the 10-day grace ******* avoiding penalties.Even worse, I was told I could pick up the check in person at my "local" branch. The problem? I live in *******, and the nearest branch is in ********, ******** 1.5-hour drive each way!I have opened numerous online **s with other banks, and this is the first time my funds werent returned electronically. The lack of flexibility and outdated policies make this an awful banking experience. Proceed with caution!Flagstar Bank

They messed up my credit score. I was laid off and was applying for financial hardship. There was no explanation that there would be hard credit score pulls and delinquency reports while you're in the process. If I had known that I would not have started it at all and found a way to make the payment. They won't reverse the delinquency. There is no one to talk to, it's all via email, i have sent many emails and nothing. When I had my house fire, they decided to keep the money and apply to my account, I needed that money to rebuild, it took them over 4 months to return the money to me. In the end, all I have is a horrible experience, and an even worse credit score!!Flagstar Bank

I paid off my loan two months ago and they still not have released my mortgage. When I call instead of trying to be helpful they are a bit sarcastic. Im in a process of selling my home and I cant for the last two months because they will not send the release to the courthouse and get it canceled. They cant tell me who they sent it to or when they sent it. I want my mortgage cancelled so zero liens are lingering. 2 months ??Flagstar Bank

Do not I repeat, Do Not get scammed by *** **** to refi your VA Loan. He made promises of lowering our interest rate, no out of pocket costs to us even though we told him my credit score was low due to student loans he said oh we can still save you money on your payment each month. So. We did the application . He found a lower rate and it was in underwriting. I called him when it states we would have to pay almost $6k in closing costs. He then proceeded to say oh we arent going to make you pay that! Then he ghosted us! Always excuses when Id call family issues, personal issues blah blah blah! What a scammer he is and was! If I could give them zero stars, I would. They purchased my mortgage about nine months ago, and I refinanced in December. During the process, they provided an inaccurate payoff statement, and now they expect me to pay an additional $5,400 to cover the amount they failed to include. Prior to this, they lowered my mortgage payment without properly collecting the correct amount for taxes, resulting in a $2,400 bill during the refinance. They take no accountability for their mistakes, yet if my payment were late, they would certainly hold me accountable.Flagstar Bank

The person that answered was completely unprofessional and aggressive, saying things like "I see. We're feeling each other out like we're on a first date" in response to my confusion. I just received possibly some important information by ordinary mail one was a large envelope the date of the letter is December 11th. The postmark that it came in was dated December 20th. So took them almost 2 weeks to get this letter into the mailbox after it was drafted. This letter came after a small letter that was dated December 17th and they didn't put that in there out mailbox until December 23rd. Almost a week after that letter was drafted. Far too many departments in flagstar they don't communicate to each other at all. And I actually told flagstar in person on the phone that the house was being sold. But whoever I talked to obviously didn't want to bother telling anyone else that or writing it down or putting it in my folder in the computer system so all could see at flagstar. And the wait time on that phone is horrible. Wonder if they change the music yet?Flagstar Bank
