I purchased the vehicle August 2023 and since then the vehicle has been inside the shop roughly 6 times. I had to pay out of pocket 5/6 times. Carhop refuses to work with me on the repairs that happen to the vehicle even though the repairs needed to be fixed in the beginning when I first purchased the vehicle. They purposely erased a check engine line when I first looked over the light since it was showing a gas cap loose. I then reported the issue while the vehicle was getting repairs done the first time in September and car refused to cover the repair even though I brought it up within a week. 6 months down the road the code from evaps ended up being an electrical issue that carhop still then refused to cover. Now were are in current and have a coolant leak from the radiator( which is the 3rd coolant leak since the thermostat and waterpump being replaced). I have given Carhop over 5,400$ not including the 1,400$ repairs over the stretch of 9 months. The final straw is the 1,500$ repair bill that car hop is only willing to cover 400$( which again is something that they "don't cover". I am done working with Carhop and they have given me h*** for the last 9 months.

      Dear *****,

Per your BBB complaint #******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 08/10/23.  The purchase included both a seven-day money back guarantee and an 18 month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.

At the time of sale, CarHop shared with you how the limited warranty works and you initialed the limited warranty page of the contract with your approval.  While it is unfortunate when any customer has mechanical issues, unforeseen issues can occur with a used vehicle.

Our records indicate that CarHop has honored its limited warranty and as a goodwill gesture and, while under no obligation to do so, also assisted you with over $2,000 in expenses not covered by the warranty.  Also as a courtesy, CarHop provided you a payment modification on 04/04/24.

On 05/09/24, you spoke with *********************************, CarHop Account Manager.  While under no obligation to do so, ******** offered you a Satisfaction of Debt, which means we will accept ownership of the vehicle as satisfaction for the remaining balance owed under the contract.  You stated you are satisfied with this outcome.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

On September 9 2023 my father, ************************** and I, ***************************** went to car hop in *********** ******** on ********* and bought a 2012 ***** Pilot. Upon trying to get it registered and legal through the *** we were notified that we couldn't get the car legal because the title that we have isn't properly signed and processed from the previous company that car hop originally got the car from. Because of car hops mess up with the title we are now having to drive around in a car that Is not inspected or registered and has no tags because we are unable to get the car legal. Upon the notification from the *** about the car my father, **************************, went back to car hop to let them know about the issue with the title and they are unwilling to help us and provide us with a legitimate vehicle and blamed my father and I because of this mishap. In order to get the 2012 ***** pilot we traded in a 2014 Dodge Charger with a trade in value of $5,000 and a 100% legit title stating that my father, **************************, was the owner of that particular vehicle. My father and I have contacted the local police department and notified them of the situation. The police department stated that since the title for the car that they sold us wasn't legitimately ready to be sold that they shouldn't have sold us the vehicle in the first place and to contact the BBB and try to find a resolution for this horrible issue. Car hop has basically told us to wait for them to fix the problem, however, we haven't been given a time line as to when the issue will be solved. Without tags and the car being registered we are taking a huge risk on traffic violations and possibly getting our vehicle towed due to the fact that car hop sold us a vehicle without a legitimately signed title.

      Dear ******,

Per your BBB complaint #******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 09/09/23, below is CarHops research and resolution.

Prior to sale, on 08/21/23, CarHop received documentation that the vehicle passed MO Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI).

On the date of purchase, CarHop advised you of your responsibility to finalize the last steps of registering your vehicle with the ***.  Our records show that, on 10/07/23, we received a call from ***** asking for another temp tag.  We stated that we were not able to provide a second temp tag and again advised ***** to contact the *** directly to complete your registration.  Our records do not show any further contact from you or ***** on this specific topic until we received this BBB complaint, six months later, stating you had trouble registering the vehicle.

Immediately upon learning of the paperwork discrepancy, *************************************, CarHop Branch Manager, made this a top priority and began addressing solution steps for you.  She expects the solution in the next few days.  Please continue to coordinate with ******* at ************ to obtain the updated document and complete your registration.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

I am rejecting this response because:
In the reply I received from car hop they stated to remain in contact with ************************************* to coordinate a resolution and for update information. We have tried multiple times to call the car hop branch here in *********** and not one time has anyone answered the phone to assist us with any updates. Furthermore, I understand the instructions we received upon purchase of the car to register the vehicle. However, even if I took the vehicle we purchased from car hop on 9/9/2023 immediately to the *** to complete registration we still would not have been able to complete registration without the remaining steps that needed to be taken from carhop for the title to be 100% legit. There were still steps that needed to be taken on the title before anyone could have gotten that particular vehicle registered legally, which that responsibility does not fall on my father, ************************** and I. In this particular situation I feel that this responsibility solely falls on the carhop branch here in *********** on **********

      Dear ******,

Per your BBB complaint #******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 09/09/23, below is CarHops updated research and resolution steps.

The *** normally accepts affidavits to process titles which would have led to a smooth registration process.  In this rare case, the *** did not accept an affidavit.  As stated in our prior response, on the date of purchase CarHop advised you of your responsibility to finalize the last steps of registering your vehicle with the *** prior to the temp tags expiring.  Our records indicate you and/or ***** delayed registering the vehicle for six months.  Had the registration been applied for by you or ***** in a timely fashion as directed, this topic would have been fully addressed months ago.

Immediately upon learning of the ***'s denial to accept an affidavit in this rare instance, *************************************, CarHop Branch Manager, has been addressing solution steps as quickly as possible.  On 05/20/24, ******* informed you that that title is in process and she will alert you as soon as it arrives.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

The company didnt contact me about any of this or say anything until I brought it up to them.

      Dear ******,

Per your BBB complaint # ******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 02/27/24, the vehicle included a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18 month / 18,000-mile limited warranty

Our records show that you decided to return the vehicle within the 7-day money back guarantee period.  CarHop honored your decision and accepted the vehicle.  The vehicle was later resold to another customer.

The new owner of the vehicle contacted you directly alerting you that she found items of yours hidden in the glove box and wanted to help return them to you.  The new owner alerted you and you then alerted CarHop.  Once CarHop became aware of the situation, we coordinated the return of your items.

The week of 04/22/24, you spoke with ************************* from our office. You stated concerns about the items you left in the vehicle being a potential identity theft risk.  ******* provided you information on www.trueidentity.com/identity-theft-protection which is a service offered to you for free and allows you to freeze and unfreeze your credit at your discretion to help protect against identity theft.

In summary, you left your items behind in the glove box.  CarHop coordinated getting those items returned to you and, as a courtesy to you, educated you on tools to help protect against identity theft.  CarHop sees no need for further accommodations.  Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

      Dear ******,

Per your BBB complaint # ******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 10/13/23, and the Retail Installment Contract assigned to ******************************** **** d.b.a. CarHop Finance.  The vehicle included an 18 month / 1*****-mile limited warranty

While it is unfortunate when any customer has mechanical issues, unforeseen issues can occur with a used vehicle. Our records show CarHop has honored its limited warranty and, while under no obligation to do so, also assisted you with over $1,000 in expenses not covered under the warranty.

Our records show that in October 2023, CarHop received service shop estimates regarding the vehicle and assisted in repair costs which were not covered under warranty.  After October 2023, CarHop did not receive any further vehicle service diagnosis or repair estimates from you or a service shop.  Therefore, if you took the vehicle in for repairs after October 2023, you did not inform CarHop.

On 04/11/24, you called CarHop stating that you no longer wanted the vehicle.  Later that same day, you dropped off the vehicle and the keys and confirmed again that you no longer wanted the vehicle.  The vehicle's mileage indicates you have driven it over ***** miles in the 6 months since the date you purchased it.

Based upon the facts stated above, CarHop sees no need for further accommodations.  Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

I purchased the ***** Pilot in February I was taking a trip to go see my son in ***** on Feb 18th when I stopped for gas the car started making a weird banging noise. I slept in my car that night because it was 2 am. I finally got it to a shop. When I called Carhop about getting it fixed where I was, in ****************, they told me I would have to have it towed all the way back to ******************. I didnt have a choice since the car was sitting on the rack and I had no other way home. When all was said and done and I spent 3919.00$ out of pocket to get it fixed. The timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and the belt needed to be fixed. Also an oil leak in the engine which was causing all of the problems needed to also be fixed. Forward a couple weeks and the front end of the Pilot starts making noise. I let them know about it and asked for a number to a shop in ****************** to get it fixed. I was informed that all of the ****************** shops were too busy and given a ******** ******* shop number. I work in ******************, I go to school in ********** and ****** wouldnt work with me on getting another shop to look at it. So I had a local shop look at it. Another $740 to get the issues with the front fixed. CV axel, wheel hub assembly, inner right axel carrier. While in the process of telling ****** about the current issues I also informed her that the alternator was going out to which she blew me off. At which point I asked her if I could just come and they take the car back and give me a replacement vehicle. To which she responded, you can bring the car back but youll leave on foot because we dont do that! Last night 4/3/2024, the alternator went out, on my way home from work. Another tow truck bill, and another repair bill I cant afford but without help from Carhop I dont have a choice! I drive 1200 miles a week! I need my car! Im tired of the run around! Im tired of spending money I dont have because Carhop cant do their job!

      Hi *****,

I am writing in response to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Complaint # ********, which you submitted regarding the
vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 01/16/24. The vehicle included a 7-day money back guarantee and an 18 month /
      18,000-mile limited warranty.

While it is unfortunate when any customer has mechanical issues, unforeseen issues can occur with a used vehicle. Our
records indicate that CarHop has honored its limited warranty.

The ****************************** (*************************) reports that the average car owner drives ***** miles per
month. In your complaint, you stated that you drive ***** miles per week (i.e. ***** miles per month), which will cause your
vehicle to require more maintenance than average.

On 03/18/24, you contacted CarHop stating vehicle issues. CarHop advised you to take the vehicle to a CarHop approved
service shop for diagnosis. Taking the vehicle to a CarHop-approved service shop for diagnosis is the first step in the
warranty process. Any repairs you approve prior to sharing an estimate with CarHop are your sole responsibility.

On 4/10/24, *************************************, CarHop District Manager, spoke with you. While under no obligation to do so and solely as
a courtesy to you, ******** was willing to review receipts of the repairs you approved on your own. Depending on the repairs,
CarHop may be willing to provide assistance. The next step is for you to provide those receipts at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

I have not had a good credit report from this company and now I have a bad credit report from this company.I have a vehicle from them and I told them that I would like to voluntarily give the car back. The vehicle doesnt work and they told me, no, we dont want the car back if it doesnt work and we arent going to let you voluntarily give up the car because you have too much invested in it now. It is not our responsibility to make sure that the vehicle is in running condition. (The last part is understandable) when I was first looking at the car they had to jump start it for me to test drive it. They have now flagged my credit for being past due and they have NEVER reported on any of my on time payments but now they want to ring my credit? This is not right and I would like to have someone call me about this matter.

      Dear ******,

Per your BBB complaint # ******** regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 07/26/22, the purchase included a 7 day money back guarantee and an 18 month / ****** limited warranty.

CarHop has investigated your concern about credit reporting and determined that the credit information on your account was furnished accurately to the three (3) main ************************* (CRAs).  Many factors, including credit with other companies and credit inquiries, determine a credit score. The CRAs alone determine how these factors impact a credit score. CarHop can only be responsible for furnishing the information on its accounts, which were done accurately.

On 11/21/23, you informed CarHop that the vehicle was hit by a semi-truck earlier in the year and had not run as well since the accident.  Our records show CarHop has honored its limited warranty.  As goodwill gesture, while under no obligation to do so, CarHop has also assisted with expenses not covered by the warranty and made accommodations for you on your scheduled payments.

On 04/10/24, you spoke with ****** from our office.  While under no obligation to do so, ****** offered you a reduced settlement for you to pay off your vehicle.  You agreed to the settlement.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

Carhop sent me to *************, one of their contracted mechanics, to decide if repairs were covered under their warranty. Turns out the repairs were not covered. I told S7 NOT to do the repairs that they were going to charge me $467 (a distributor cap and rotor)for when I could do it myself for in 10 minutes for $40. ************* did the repair anyways, saying that the carhop manager in ********* told him to do the repair. I did not authorize carhop to make decisions about repairs on my behalf. I told S7 to take the new part out and put the old part back in, which they did with much anger towards me. When I get my car back and go to do the repair I find that S7 sabotaged my vehicle and in doing so caused damage to my engine. I called carhop for help, as they made me go to this shop and they made decisions on my behalf without my consent- even overriding my already informed choice to not do the repair- and the manager told me to "get creative because you're on your own with this problem. Carhop will not be doing anything for you." My car is ruined. I cannot keep up with the chain of repairs needed because of this damage. When my car went in carhops own mechanic said that I just needed to replace the distributor cap and rotor. Now I'm full of check engine codes and horrible noises. Carhop would not let me trade my car in for a different one with a new contract, as I asked them for this already. They will not fix it, in fact denied normally covered repairs afterwards because the problems originated from vandalism- vandalism that their mechanic did because he was angry that carhop told him to override my decision to not do the repair, which caused him to lose time and money.

You stated you were unsatisfied with the repairs done by *************.  While under no obligation to do so and solely as a courtesy to you, CarHop paid for the vehicle to be diagnosed by a second service shop (Bitterlings Auto Service).  *********** diagnosis reported that the distributor cap was making a grinding noise and they suggested that the distributor cap be replaced.  While this is not covered by the warranty, CarHop is willing to provide additional assistance to you as a goodwill gesture.

I originally purchased a vehicle from this business and was satisfied until I was told by a mechanic I had catastrophic damage on my chassis and the vehicle should not have been sold to me. The business then hurried me up into another car took the old one back and reported on my credit that my loan was derogatory. So I'm left with a lower value vehicle a large loan and my credit has been destroyed by 200 points all because of this business and the way they reported my credit. None of this was my fault to begin with but my credit is damaged and I'm locked into a loan with very negative equity and I can't get help from anybody at the company.

      Dear *******,

Per your BBB complaint # ******** regarding the ****** 4 Runner you purchased at CarHop on 08/18/23, the purchase included a 7 day money back guarantee and an 18 month / ****** limited warranty.  While it is unfortunate when any customer has mechanical issues, unforeseen issues can occur with a used vehicle.  Our records show CarHop has honored its limited warranty and, while under no obligation to do so, also assisted with non-warranty covered repairs.

CarHop has investigated your complaint about credit reporting and determined that the credit information on your account was furnished accurately to the three (3) main ************************* (CRAs).

On 11/06/23, you contacted CarHop stating vehicle concerns.  In accordance with CarHop's warranty, CarHop advised you to take the vehicle to a CarHop approved service shop for diagnosis.  You decided to return the vehicle without getting a diagnosis from a CarHop service shop.  CarHop advised you that your decision to return the vehicle under those circumstances would classify as a voluntary repossession.

While under no obligation to do so, CarHop offered you a different vehicle and offered for you to return the ****** 4 Runner with a Satisfaction of Debt (SOD), which stated CarHop will accept ownership of the vehicle as satisfaction for the remaining balance owed under the Contract.  You accepted both offers. We are required by law to provide accurate credit furnishing.  The correct credit furnishing with an SOD is 'Settled, paid in full for less than the full amount', which is what we furnished to the CRAs.

**** has been out of the office for a few days, so ******************************* contacted you on 03/12/24.  ********* informed you that, while under no obligation to do so and solely as a courtesy, CarHop paid for the diagnosis of your vehicle and paid for the repair parts.  You agreed to cover the labor costs.  I have also learned from CarHop Finance that, also as a courtesy to you, back on 02/28/24 they deferred two car payments for you.  You next car payment is due on 04/05/24.  You picked up the car from **************** on 03/15/24.

The updated registration was hand-delivered to the local county ****************** on 03/07/24 and is in process.  If you have further questions, please contact **** or *********.  Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

Carhop sold us a car with safety recalls on it. The car stalls while driving, it jerks when I accelerate. The cars gears grind when going from park to reverse and to drive gear. I want all repair cost to be covered by the company. If my request are found to find out that my vehicle is a safety is*** to me and my husband and to other around me and repairs aren't paid by carhop. It falls under the ********** lemon law. And I will *** this company for putting us in danger as well as others. I also put down a ****** dollar deposit that didn't go towards my balance.customer service is a joke and I feel that this companies only concern is to pocket money and not be concerned with anyone's safety.im bringing the car in Monday morning February 26. I want our car fixed in a timely manner at no cost to us. It's not our fault your company sold us a bad car with multiple is***s. No exceptions. No excuses. You're company will be held liable if anything happens to either of us. At you're companies expense. A faulty car falls under the ********** lemon law. If necessary. I will contact a lawyer and request that all my legal fees with be reverted to carhops expenses.

      Hi *****,

I am writing in response to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Complaint # ********, which you submitted regarding the vehicle you purchased at CarHop on 06/16/23 as the co-buyer. The contract was later assigned to ******************************** (CA) d.b.a. CarHop Finance. The purchase included a 7 day money back guarantee and an 18 month / 18,000-mile limited warranty.

Prior to sale, CarHop pulled an NMVTIS and third-party vehicle history report.  Neither report showed any vehicle issues or open recalls.  At the time of sale, CarHop provided you and the buyer the vehicle history report which showed no outstanding recalls. You and the buyer initialed this page of the contract with your approval.

While it is unfortunate when any of our customers has mechanical issues, unforeseen problems do sometimes occur with used vehicles. Our records indicate that CarHop has honored its limited warranty.

On 02/28/24, *************************, Branch Manager, spoke with you and confirmed that the vehicle was recently in **************** for repairs not covered by the limited warranty.  Those repairs are complete and the vehicle is running well.  In that call, ***** explained the limited warranty with you and described how recalls work.  You stated that you will contact your local ************** dealership with any future recall questions.

Thank you for doing business with CarHop.

      Sincerely,

      *******************
