1 starI use a Red Card Debit card for target which charges my checking account when I use it in store. I changed checking accounts and went to update my banking information but the online service to do so was closed for a week. On 3/17/25 I shopped in target and scanned my app for coupons, but the transaction also processed a payment to my red card. I assumed that since they shut their website down for a week, they would process the payment when my banking was updated. I then received a letter in the mail that I owed a service charge on top of my transaction charge. On 4/1/25 I called to inform them of the situation and they initially refused to waive the service charge of $50. Eventually, I was told I could have my fee waived for this one time despite their website being down being a cause of the issue. In that same call I authorized a payment from my checking account for the total of the transaction. On 4/21/25 I received another letter stating it was a final notice for the amount of the transaction with no service charge. I called customer service and was informed that they incorrectly recorded my account number and could not process the payment I authorized 3 weeks prior. They told me they could not take a debit card payment via phone and my only other option was to mail in a check. I asked why a letter wasnt sent stating that they were unable to process the transaction and was not given an answer. They did inform me that no 3rd letter would be sent and the matter would be referred to collections after 3 months. I opted to mail a check, as the first time they incorrectly processed my payment, and asked for a confirmation letter that the check was received. They stated that they were unable to process a letter for receipt of payment without me calling back after the check was cashed and requesting one. My issues were caused by a series of errors caused by Target Card and they refuse to take responsibility or to apologize for the issue.Review fromDerek S

1 starThis card is not worth it. Please, seriously consider a different option. Not only is the APR outrageous, but the customer support is less than 1 star. Let me give an example. The website to pay the Target Store credit card went down for maintenance. During the time the website went down, no payments could be made. They did say that all late fees due to the website being down would be waived. The time period that the website was down was the time period that I pay my bill every month. I have had this card for a while and never missed a payment or had a late payment. When the website was back up and running, I made a payment and it went through just fine. That was less then two weeks after my initial try. When I went back to the website the next month to pay my bill, I noticed there was a late fee. I called and the customer service I got was dreadful. They blamed me for not paying the bill, even though the website was down. When I mentioned that, they told me it was my fault for basically "Not figuring it out" and told me the late fee would stay. In the middle of the conversation with the Target customer rep, they just hung up on me. That was absolutely wild. I didn't swear or yell. I just wanted to get to the bottom of it. AT the end of the day, it is just a late fee of $30, which is super annoying, but it won't break the bank for most people. But this is just poor practice on Targets part. It is stealing money from families because Target decided to do work on a website and make it unavailable for payments. Target is not out to take care of its customers, but to squeeze them for every penny they can.Review fromShannon S

1 starThe customer service is horrendous. I have been hung up on and honestly I am one of those people who tries to "kill them with kindness" They consistently give bad information and you can barely understand what they are saying. I STRONGLY advise never getting one of these cards!!!!!!Review fromHillary H

1 starThese people are a bunch of jerks. I have amassed massive fees for overdue bills that I never received. Their collections agency, ************, didnt give a c*** and neither did the Target company when I called. When you get no bills, no calls, no letters in the mail and then you find out you owe money only because they reported you to a credit agency - that is total BS. I am livid. Dont get a Target card! I wont even be shopping at Target anymore. Just disgusting behavior. I called to close my card and they didnt even try to keep my business. Just goes to show what really matters- s******* customers to get as much money out of them as they can.Review fromSARAH B

1 starClosed my account, after 9 years with them. During a period that they were doing, accounced website/app maintenance. Over a few "returned" payments. In which my accounts had the money available. Did not notify me at all of the issues, no textlike my other cards would do. No email, no letters (probably because I am paperless on my account). There is no excuse for the lack of communication. I have excellent credit, and am an ******** express card holder. I kept this account for the pure sake of my account age. In which they just reuined. I will not be opening a new account with them. The rewards **** anyways. I will not beshopping at target anymore either. This is a loss of about ***** a month. A win for other retailers, sorry for you target.Review fromNiurys N

1 starAfter nearly 16 years with target credit card and zero issues, I went to having to call almost on a daily basis, awful customer service and support. I have spoken to supervisors and agents and none of them have been able to help or answer my concerns - especially A*** (supervisor on duty). Their card management system changed but they screwed up my account on the transfer and no one wants to take responsibility for their mistakes nor offer solutions to fix, instead they treat me with superiority like I dont know anything about the card. Worst company ever!Review fromJoseph C

1 starTarget updated their app and it affected the payment processing system. I called and waited hours to get an agent on the phone just to spend an additional 45 minutes conference calling my bank to verify the payment. My available credit was never updated so I sent messages through the app and called every day without getting any response. The call center agents just keep telling me that the appropriate department needs to confirm the payment; I've been using the same checking account to pay this card for 2 years. I went to message them today and noticed they blocked me feom sending messages and emailed me saying that my in-app messages could not be processed and to call the number. I called the number after waiting almost an hour they tell me we have to do the verification conference call with my bank again. I refused because I do not have any more time to sit on the phone and redo what was already done. They confirmed that the agent who assisted me didn't do the verification correctly, not my fault. I tried explaining how much time has been wasted already and ******* **** up on me. I tried using their chat feature and was told it's not for cardholders and that someone would respond within 48 hours. I haven't been able to use this card since the beginning of March even though I should have available credit. They never notified any customers about this and don't seem to care about resolving the issues that they caused. Mind you, I received my statement stating I had no owed balance and my full credit limit was available.Review fromLisette Q

1 starTarget Card Services is holding my money! I made a payment on my account on 3/23/2025, which debited my account on 3/24/2025 but has not been applied. When I called customer service, no one spoke English and they kept repeating themselves. I am now being told the payment will not post until 4/8/2025, there is nothing they can do, and they disconnected my call! What type of business takes your money and refuses to apply it for weeks?? Be mindful when shopping at Target, much less obtaining their credit card! they are thieves!Review fromde A

1 starI have been trying to report my card lost but its always over an hour wait to talk to someone about it being lost, I cant make an online payment because the website never loads, and when I call did I mention there is over an hour wait time? Who has time to sit on hold for a hour? Now i am being threatened with a late fee because the they cant hire more people for phone calls and fix their payment webpage.Review fromKaren V

1 starTarget card services did not send an email or paper bills in the mail in the month of January 2025; in February 2025 I received a bill with late fee of $30. & $6.58 interest. I contact them on 2/12/25, and they apologized and stated they will adjust my $30. & $6.58 interest as I have never EVER been late with my bill and ALWAYS pay my balances in full. I have a so call Supervisors name which supposedly adjusts the amount. I just received my monthly bill for $36.58, I just contacted and spoke another supposedly Supervisor which REFUSED to provide me with her name or ID number for the call, as she stated I owe $36.58. I went around and around and explained the two phone calls and the balances I pay which I was told by the so call first *********** I paid $289.28 which she deducted the $36.58. However today I am told I have to pay this ************* will adjust after I pay. This is worst customer service from **********************! This is the reason why ***** many stores and companies go out of business. Either their staff is not trained appropriately as the the person I spoke to today which REFUSED to provide her name or ID for the call.
