Center Point Service Plus is TERRIBLE! Every time I schedule service, they cancel, push back or just don't show up! To schedule tune ups, you have to schedule 5 months out. If I could rate them lower I would. I finally have a manager's number to call direct as this is an EVERY TIME occurrence. They charge so much and still cannot get it right. Someone needs to address this issue at the company once and for all. They cannot keep treating their customers this way. It's a Monopoly and they take advantage of their customers. Another wasted vacation day to wait at home for them not to show up when they are supposed to. SOMEONE at Center Point needs to address this issue.Review from Xiao W

I seldom write reviews but this time I feel I have to say something to let people know about their service. I purchased CenterPoint Energy Home Service Plus, the program turns out to be a joke. My water heater stopped working and it remains nonfunctional since my initial call for service, it has been 3 weeks so far. I still don't have hot water at home. First of all, some technicians are not experienced. The first group of technicians diagnosed it as a failed electrodes and control board. It took 3 days for the ordered parts to arrive and the control board was sent as a wrong model, then a new control board was ordered it took another 4 days to arrive. When the second group of technicians installed the new electrodes and the correct control board, the water heater continued not working. New diagnosis was made as failed ignition at this point and the part again being ordered. As you can imagine it took another 3 days for the part to arrive. Obviously, incorrect diagnosis of the problem slowed the process down. Secondly, it's very hard to get an appointment, and even if you get one, it will mostly be delayed. Moreover, they change the scheduled appointment without any notice. I have to call in several times to learn that the appointment has been rescheduled. I wasted my 3 PTO days and waited at home for nothing. I am very generous about my 2 out of 5 score because the average customer review rating is 1.41/5. I think customers should be very careful when enrolling in this program. I hope there are other competitive gas companies which can serve in my residential area.Review from Teresa B

I purchased a new furnace 18 months ago from centerpoint energy . I have had nothing but problems with the furnace. I have had 6 service calls in 2 winters. The last call was for a gas leak which is very scary and the furnace is only 18 months old. I went 6 days the last time without heat they told me they had to order the part . I told them I have a husband on hospice could we put a rush or something on the part. They told me the parts come usually pretty fast. well 2 days later they could not tell me where the part is no one could tell me anything. called again the next day someone told me I need to talk to some from the parts department. So they connect me to the parts department and they tell me its waiting on warranty approval. Well I also have service plus coverage so they should not have had to wait for approval. I called 3 times for copies of all the service calls for 2023 they keep telling me they will email them to me still have not received them. So frustrating that you just get the run around. I would not recommend centerpoint energy for a furnace. I am sure they don't care about this review because they are the only gas company I can't fire them they are the only choice we have Teresa BCenterPoint Energy Response

I cancelled my Home Service Plus account many months ago on the website. It took it off my accounts on the website. I have continued to be billed however. I was told that I should have called instead of cancelling it in the website. The reps have no record of my HSP cancellations, but it clearly has shown that to be the case on the website. I don't know how long since it was cancelled that I have been charged. I do not remember and I never even received a confirmation email.Review from Debbie H

On December 27 th 2023 they came out for our annual furnace tuneup Mark the Tech’s First Remark That this was going to be an easy one! We Do Not Want Him Back His Appearance Was Dirty And He Smelled! Less Than a month later on January 18 th 2024 at 4:30 am We woke up to no heat! Minnesota in January is cold we are Seniors me with respiratory issues,We called Right away at 5:00 am the temperature was 57, they put us in a 7 am to 11 pm window,I made calls told my representatives that they are coming have until 11 pm,at 10:30 I went on my Account To see they now have updated us after we were told they were coming to a 12:01 am to a 3 pm for the 19 th. I called talked with Jacob he said someone works all night they would get to us as long as no emergency’s like gas leaks come in, he said he would give us one month free home service plus! So we tried to stay warm and get some sleep I got out of bed at 4 am to see they had called so I called hsp back talked with someone who told me they we’re on the way. I said I have a complaint I need a supervisor but no was available they would call. Brad the technician very professional clean found a wire had wiggled of 15 minutes he tied a nut on the gas meter a little smell there. I discovered today that my account was changed to paperless billing without my consent. I had received a late notice last month and assumed the paper statement got misplaced. I hadn't seen a statement for this month and decided to look online. My account said that I was enrolled in paperless billing (I never signed up for this service). I dug through my email and found in my spam folder a message sent September 19th saying that I was automatically signed up for paperless billing and if I wanted to get a paper statement that I would have to follow a link. I called Centerpoint today and spoke with Anna (a supervisor), they said the company did this to be "environmentally friendly". There was no paper notification sent, so if you have an account and don't read their emails because they go to your spam folder then you would risk accruing late fees. I feel that this is a very unethical business practice as it lacks transparency and forces the customers into a service without their consent.Review from Bernadetta M

If only I could give zero star for this ridiculous company. My appointment got rescheduled twice. The first time was because of the technician did not notify me (via phonecall, door bell or knock) when he arrived, so how was I supposed to know?? On the second appointment, I never got their automated call 30 minutes before the appointment, then suddenly they rescheduled it. They sent an email within 10 minutes interval to say the technician was unable to get in. But I was home the whole time and did not see any technician come. They should really improve their system or people will never get their gas activated.Review from Randy F

We had our stove repaired last night by Christian and we were so happy with the service we got! He was very knowledgeable, kind, and very respectful of our appliance not to scratch or bump anything! Had a Home Service Plus appointment scheduled. Received a call when the technician was on the way. Got home and he was already there, but waited for me. He told me what he thought the issue was before here even got in there house. He was spot on and had it fixed in 10 minutes, then went above and beyond to do an inspection. Great job CPE HSP!
