They have never shown up on time for a furnace & AC tune-up. Every year, I call them and schedule an appointment, and every year, they do the same: they reschedule your appointment during the day of your appointment. They expect you to take time off your busy schedule and wait for a technician who never shows up. (They only arrive on time when installing a new system or making significant repairs). I have gotten a furnace, AC, and water heater installed from Hero. They sell the system with a few years of maintenance included, but when you call them, they never prioritize you. They always reschedule. I had an appointment for July 8th and now they reschedule for September for an AC tune up. I had my appointment a few month prior to July.Review from Beau W

We were first time home buyers in 11/2023. Hero has great Google reviews, but prides themselves on taking advantage of people like us with little knowledge. Our inspector told us to ground our outlets. Hero stated our entire house had to be rewired and that it was unsafe. This was the first of many scare tactics they used on us to get us to buy in to their exorbitant plans. We were quoted $13,000 for a rewire, which we accepted. The sales individual tricked us into signing up for their Happy Club, because it “gives us a discount.” We are now paying monthly installments that then incur a finance charge. We called them for a tree root issue a few months later and were quoted $15,000. They stated they will need to dig up the front yard and get a permit from the city. We spoke with another company and they fixed the issue for $400. Being in the Happy Home Club, we wanted to utilize our free AC inspection. The person who came out did not inspect the thermostat wiring and stated we needed a whole new system. We were quoted $10,000 to replace the furnace and AC. A local contractor fixed the AC issued for $200 and will be visiting us in the fall for the furnace issue. We are thoroughly disappointed in our experience with Hero and would not recommend them to anyone.Hero Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Drains & Electrical Response

They do not honor there ongoing maintenance inspection program at all. Not problem collecting monthly fees. But they continue to cancel appointments for the inspection and tune up.Hero Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Drains & Electrical Response

We do apologize for the misunderstanding regarding the process of how Hero does inspection calls. Also in the event we need to reschedule an inspection we do offer the customer a incentive. Unfortunately **************** wouldn't allow our representatives to talk and hung up prior to them being able to de-escalate his concerns. ************* has tried to reach out to the customer and left a voicemail to call us back. We'd be happy to see if we can come to a mutual resolution.Review from Max H

Hero installed ********************** sump pump 2 years ago on 5/2/2022. We have been in contact with him regarding how ****'s pricing is configured. **** provides quotes prior to any work being done with a signature that the customer agrees to the cost of service. Our pricing reflects what Hero needs as a business to be able to continue providing quality service to our customers. We understand we are not the least expensive company a customer can go with. That is the reason Hero provides up-front pricing prior to any work being done, so the customer can make an informed decision. ****************** was given the opportunity to decline the services if he felt the cost was too high. He also has had ample opportunities to address the issue sooner, as we have serviced his home and spoken with him multiple times since 05/2022. Had he brought this issue to our attention then, we would have been able to address the concern based on relevant factors at that time.Review from Susan S

Had plumbing work done by HERO. 2 small jobs, a kitchen faucet replaced and a non functioning cartrige in a shower replaced. Yes, I did agree to their terms and paid an EXORBITANT amount to have the work done. The "by the job" costs are like a "one size fits all". No matter how long the job takes, the price is the same. I had a momentary lapse of good judgement that ended up costing $1,500!! I feel like I participated and agreed to a scam and am totally embarrassed that I agreed to this outrageous bill. I will NEVER RECOMMEND this company to anyone and had my daughter cancel her appointment with them. She has also posted on her Facebook account to warn others of these unethical practices.Hero Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Drains & Electrical Response

Since then Hero has consider this matter resolved, as Susan was given a refund that she indicated was adequate to resolve her concern. Susan is more than welcome to reach out to Hero to address any further concerns or questions she may have regarding this matter.Review from Susan H

DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. We had our pilot light on our boiler go out and after an hour of work where they vacuumed out the bottom of the boiler, turned three valves, and added more water, they charged $600, but at least the boiler was working again. Not an hour later, a pressure release valve exploded and water leaked all over our basement. I called, was placed on hold and then they hung up on me. I called back three times until I got a hold of someone who said there is no one that can help me on this Friday night, but I will be called back on Saturday. I received a call back Saturday morning and was told they have no one available to come out and see us which means we have no heat over Easter weekend. I asked to speak with a manager and the person I was speaking with wouldn't give me a name or number. The lady I spoke with on Saturday was not kind, not empathetic, and quickly became defensive. I asked for a refund and she also said that was not possible. I will never work with this company again. The least they could do is give me my $600 back since it did not fix the problem and I was told if the boiler is not working from their clean and water refill, that I would not be charged.Hero Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Drains & Electrical Response

I agree with all the complaints listed here 100%. The crew did good work but $500 per hour per plumber is outrageous. I Googled what the expected cost for plumber should be BEFORE I called any plumber, the range is $50 to $150 per hour. None will disclose their rates over the phone AND they charge $60 - $80 to provide an estimate. So you can plan on possibly $240 just to get 3 estimates I agree that Hero Plumbing should be ashamed and they are gouging customers. **** I won't call them again and I won't refer them to anyone. ***** I used to have respect for a veteran owned company, now that will mean nothing in my choice. Thanks to being price gouged to fix 3 faucets I can no longer afford to make donations to veterans organizations. So all the other veterans miss out on those of us that donate to veterans because of price gouging from this veteran owned business. DebbyReview from Joe M

I called hero because my main sewer backed up, the drain and sewer crew showed up to snake and clean main drain they worked for approx. an hour they said they went out 100 feet as far as their equipment allowed but did not find the blockage and they will have their sewer specialist with a cable camera the following day cost so far ($260.) and they fixed nothing. the specialist did show up first thing in the morning and did spend the better part of the morning investigating the problem. his time was spent running his camera thru the line ,he was outside measuring with other equipment and conferring on the phone and writing proposals .he stated that the problem was my sewer line became separated from the main line under the street. i was given at least 4 proposals throughout the morning possibly 6 and each proposal increased by thousands finally he stated that they would have dig up the street to fix it. the final proposal $ 17,550. I asked him if the city would help and he stated that it was totally my responsibility .i told him i would have to get financing and another bid. I called a one man sewer business. he came out the next day and cleared the blockage in an 1 1/2 hours cost $275. i called the city sewer department. the person i talked to said he would send a camera crew to run a camera through the sewer line, they came spent less a little less then an hour and stated that there was no blockage and no need to to dig up the street. 3 takeaways (1) The guy from city sewers said with sewer issues ,call the city first (2) Get a second opinion (3) I could have taken a loan out and wasted $17,000 on a problem that was fixed with $275. and a different company. I needed help to replace an outlet for an old dishwasher and this was the only company that could come out within one day. I figured my quote would be $300 to $500. The first quote the technician showed me was almost $6000 ??. This company is clearly full of scammers and an in honest people. I am going to see how many other people have been scammed and see if there’s a way to bring in district attorney, or other members of the state to help consumers. Absolute worst experience, ever working with any type of company to help with home utilities. Please please please do not call them ever!Review from Connor M

I had a similar experience as many others in November of 2022- it cost me $3,000.00 just to get them out of my house. Amazing this company exists. The owners of this company should be ashamed. I would suspect that many of their positive reviews are fake. Do not let these people in your house, find any other company.
