Securian Financial continues placing my life insurance account on an automatic loan despite having been on automatic payments for more than 5 years and having spent hours with a representative in January 2021 to rectify this situation. After multiple email exchanges, phone calls, and assurance that the corrections would be made to my payment type and methods, Securian has still be deducting from my policy for payments over this last year. I never had these problems prior to Securian merging/taking over Minnesota Life. My account was setup for automatic payment, and if I ever missed a payment, it would be drawn from my linked account with my financial institution. This switch to a loan is not something I signed up for or authorized. This is predatory lending. I called again yesterday to rectify this, waited on hold for more than an hour between speaking with a representative who gave incorrect information about my account and trying to find a supervisor. Despite them having and confirming my contact information, when the call disconnected with the supervisor, no one returned my call and my issue remains unresolved.Business response

I was unemployed at not fault of mine and had a loan at a credit union and payed on insurance every month that the credit union added on. When I became unemployed I contacted the bank for help until I found a job because the employer lied and said I quit and I didnt quit. I filed an appeal on the decision but due to the pandemic its was almost a year before receiving a date and now a continuous because we ran out of time. I still havent received help from this company and the bank is the people who filed the paper work because I was unemployed. After being denied I called the credit union TDECU they had no idea of the rules they go be. But whats odd is they attacked it to my loan with not knowing what it does for a customer and when approached about it I was told they dont have that knowledge. Plus my loan capitalizes twice every month and I brought that to their attention but no answers to that either. So Securian Financial and Tdecu are both wrong.Business response

I have been trying to get my group life insurance that I get through my employer cancelled for months without success. I have called and emailed Securian with the required cancellation form and Securian is still deducting premiums monthly from my paycheck.Business response

I filed a claim when my late ex-husband passed away with the help of my financial advisor. We received back a paper saying I needed “guardianship” papers for my son, who is the beneficiary. My estate attorney said that is not true and to simply send in the birth certificate and my custody papers, which I did overnight mail. Securian/Minnesota Life then sent me the same exact request for guardianship papers. My estate attorney will be handling this at the next level and possibly taking them to court to fill our legitimate insurance claim. I am the trustee to my late ex-husband’s Trust and this money goes to caring for my son who has medical needs to be covered. From the other BBB, complaints and their B rating, it seems this is what this company does in order not to pay out legitimate claims.Business response

I'm just trying to get this claim done ,I've sent them emails and tax forms they don't accept ,how can u not accept a tax form from unemployment saying I was unemployed for the whole year ?Nobody responds ,nobody calls and they just keep sending me the same requests over and over again ,I've sent them bank statements and they still keep sending me requests for the same stuff ,u call up there and nobody knows anythingBusiness response

Securing Financial is the underwriter for my mothers life insurance policy. My mother passed away May 13, 2021. Securian Financial sent me and my siblings Preference Beneficiary Statements (claim forms) to fill out. We all filled out the forms and mailed them in. We included our names, addresses, Social Security numbers and dates of birth. Securian Financial is refusing to pay my mothers claim. They state that we were sent an old form and it is not valid. This form was created by Securian Financial. They are attempting to get out of paying a legitimate claim.Business response
