Sent me a bill telling me my subscription expires 12/29. Went online and it said it expired on 12/19. We've also upped their fuel surcharge to $0.18 per issue. Bbb claims they consider complaints when they rate companies. Nobody gives this place more than two stars.. They've been ripping people off with shorting their subscriptions for 25 years.

The Pioneer press called our house last year and talked to my minor son. The sales person somehow convinced him to subscribe for a "free" Sunday paper. A month later I get a bill for annual subscription for over $500. I called and was told that the resident in the home signed up for this service. I explained the person they spoke with is a minor and has no authority to subscribe. They assured me they will cancel the subscription. A month later another bill appeared with added "penalty" fees. I called again and explained, I was promised cancellation. Again, a month later another bill appeared. This time I ignored it. I was never charged since they did not have my credit card information, and they never delivered any papers. Eventually, the bills stopped. A sales tactic perhaps?

My dad DIED shortly after I paid to renew is subscription. I called to get a refund. They hemmed and hawed about it. I used my credit card to get my money back. The credit card company promptly reimbursed me. Then, the Pioneer Press had the nerve to charge me again and DID NOT EVEN SEND THE PAPER. The credit card once again reversed the charges. Now I need to call my credit card to have the company blocked from charging me a THIRD time for a service that is no longer needed as the person ordering the service is DEAD. What is wrong with these people?

Crooks!!! I emailed on 9/16/2024 to cancel my annual subscription, they said they responded looking for a reason why but I never got that email. They auto-renewed for an entire year with the excuse that I didn't respond with a reason. First, I already emailed saying I didn't want to renew. Second, it doesn't matter why - I told them to cancel. They would not reverse, refund or cancel with the excuse that they could not and that I didn't respond, but I know that they absolutely can refund. I want my money back and the newspaper cancelled so I put in a complaint with the state Attorney General. This is fraud. I should not have to wait another entire year to cancel when I already told them to. I would give no stars if I could but will reluctantly give one star.

They run sales out of a call center in the Philippines, which is a really tough look for a longstanding local paper like the Pioneer Press. Understand the need to cut costs and stay afloat, but I wish there was a better solution. Sad to see local journalism fall apart. I wouldn't subscribe with a 10 foot pole. I suggest https://bringmethenews.com/ which has no paywall and gets you the big headlines for free. Pioneer Press, be bold enough to remove your paywall and focus more energy on selling ad space.

I am 80 years old and going to hospice. I renewed for 1 year in May. My diagnosis came in July. I called to cancel my newspaper and get partial refund of the $260 I paid for the year. They refused to reimburse me. I would not recommend doing business with this company.

We never received the paper. And when we called to cancel our subscription were told we did not have an account under my husband or myself, but our account is on the final notice bill they sent us. We were told the only way to quit getting charged was to cancel our card. Now we are getting a final notice letter in the mail but they never sent us any other bills. We have called 6 times trying to resolve this issue. I just want my $58.99 back and to never deal with the Pioneer Press again.

Signed up 4 weeks ago for Thursday and Sunday. First week no papers, called they extended our subscription. Second week, both came. Third week no papers, was told they would send out for delivery, no paper ever received. Forth week no paper received, asked for refund, strict policy no refunds but they would be happy to put in a special service request. How can a “reputable “ business get away with this. They get no stars from me

Impossibe to cancel. I get two calls a day about billing but they are unable to cancel my subscription on the phone. The "Manage My Subscription" link on their website doesn't work. Their business model is intentionally constructed to make this impossible.

I had been getting the digital edition just fine. Later they called and offer a free month(?) of paper delivery and “special editions.” I specifically said I was not interested for each of the 3 or 4 times the caller insisted it was free and not an automatic sign up. Of course, I started getting bills for a paper delivery (which never once came) and special editions, whatever those are. I called and the rep was helpful in cancelling it for me, but I had to ask three times to cancel everything else I had, even after an offer of another free month. I asked to speak to the manager since I never agreed to the paper/special editions. They wouldn’t put me through, saying they wouldn’t charge for anything I didn’t consent to. I’ve lost count how many times this has happened over the years. It seems the only way to ensure I don’t get any more charges is to change my credit card number.
