We had a very bad experience with Kirkwood Plumbing (Mr. Rooter) on 10/3/24.I was out of town, and my wife noticed bubbles coming from the basement commode when the adjacent shower was running. When the two technicians arrived, the younger one, ****, announced, before even doing any analysis, that due to the age of the house, 50 years old, they expected bad news. The first thing they did was checking the roof vent, no issue. They then removed the commode to run a camera. The camera results were described as terrible, crumbling iron pipe under the house, an absolute plumbing ************ wife was shown some video of a crumbled pipe with worms visible.A proposal was written to do over $7100 worth of work, ripping up a 10 foot path through our newly installed basement flooring, through the foundation concrete, to address the problems in the crumbling cast iron pipe. My wife was advised that the $7100 and 10 feet of digging might be insufficient, that they might have to dig further when they laid eyes on what was happening. My wife asked if it was possible for them to go from the other direction with the camera, from the outside back towards the house, and the answer was no. We had to ask for a copy of the video. We received a 50 second clip, with no apparent issues. That evening, we decided to seek a second opinion. We had The SewerPros inspection service come in the next day, and they videoed our sewer lines. They said the cast iron pipe under the house was absolutely A-Okay. The only issue they found was some roots in a damaged area of **** pipe over 100 feet downhill away from the ********, our issue with Kirkwood Plumbing/Mr. Rooter was that they were going to proceed with over $7100 of unethical, unnecessary work themselves, and we still would have had to pay for getting the basement flooring reinstalled ourselves. They did refund all of the $3500 deposit check my wife had written, after a two week delay, but the reputational damage had been done.

On 7/22/24 I had a clean water break in the line to the refrigerator overnight. I woke to saturated flooring in the kitchen, the great room, the sub flooring, the joists, and a flooded basement floor. I called the first plumber that came up on ******* Mr *********************** I did not think they would answer because it was so early in the morning, but they did. They sent someone immediately. *************************** was my plumber and he is outstanding. He got the water stopped immediately and fix everything that needed to be fixed quickly and efficiently. He explained exactly what was going on and how he was going to fix it. He provided cost upfront. He also inspected the entire waterline and found a problem near the water heater. I never look at waterlines. I would never have noticed this issue, but it was glaringly obvious once he pointed it out. He fixed that issue before it became a bigger problem. He was outstanding. I highly recommend this company service.

Called for cleaning my sewer line. Would not provide a price in advance. Upon arrival, they told me the only way to clear the line was with a hydro blast type cleaning (without trying a standard method) at $750. Reluctantly I agreed, only to be told after 10 minutes of attempting to clear the line, that I needed $7000 in repairs. They presented me an estimate, with a 30% discount IF I signed immediately.Of course I did not. However they still charged me $750 for clearing the line! (Later, after complaining about the charge they refunded $150. That is still $600 for a service they didn't complete!)The customer service rep was so understanding and compassionate, I actually considered using them. Then I read the contract! There is a clause that allows the company to withdraw funds from your checking account if there are extra charges!! IF you decide to use this company, READ THE CONTRACT!A second estimate was $2000 less. I would avoid this company at all costs.

Their technician came out to repair and replace 2 outside spigots. The bill was over $1600. While he was there he fell off of the step ladder and broke a basement window and damaged a faucet. He neglected to inform the office about this. I called and sent photos. I was told they would get back to me. It's been almost two weeks and I haven't heard back from them yet.

I had an emergency for a sump repair, Mr Rooter came out, over charged on repair, pump at most w/have been no more than $300, I was charged $947 for replacing pump. Company w/not give itemized break down on costs. Had no option than to pay it so finished basement w/not flood. The repairman was good it was there overbilling & not giving a statement on costs. When they called back explained that to them, wanted to know if I had other estimates. I had been panning water since 2 AM with a bad back, how would I have other estimates
