A woman called me from this company claiming to be collecting on two medical bills from 2006 $172.00 and 2011 $33.51. It's 2024, those bills are 18 and 13 years old, way past the statute of limitations. When I informed her that I do not believe those are mine and she needed to prove to me I owe those bills she refused, she said they have sent enough bills to an address that I haven't lived at in 10 years. She completely and totally violated federal laws. If the conversation is recorded by them, they need to listen to it.Business Response

I received a letter from this company's "Collection Agent" informing me of the process for filing a dispute. Two disagreement letters were written as directed to the postal address provided, only to discover that they were not accepted. Letters were held in USPS custody for more than 15 days before being returned. Unfortunately, this does not reflect good on your organization and does not need my participation. Evidence is available and may be provided if the organization ultimately decides to follow its own method. Also, if calling, please leave a voice mail and I may call back. I've received no phone calls nor messages related to this (that I can confirm).Business Response

We have not received any non-certified letters from Mr. ******* informing us of his dispute. We started calling Mr. ******* at the number he provided and left messages with no return call. This is a valid debt and until we hear otherwise it is still owed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
- According to the letter received, any intent to dispute was to be sent within 30 days to the address listed: ** *** **** ******* ** *****- Two dispute/validation letters were sent within the time defined, to the same address, both of which were never accepted by the recipient (evidence available = Tracking numbers: **********************, and ***********US)
- And last, your statement is incorrect, no phone calls had been received nor voice mails or messages left.
A copy of the initial letter is attached for reference. USPS provided status will be kept with the letter being returned.
Due to the above, I'm requesting that you provide me each and all of the following:
1. Verification that I owe the debt, including the original creditor's name and contact information.
2. Contract or agreement properly signed by both parties (me and GFL Environmental) providing consent, proving that I accepted the charges specified in your letter.
3. Records of all and any communication related to these charges, between me and GFL Environmental (letters, phone call recordings, emails, etc.), to include communication with customer service agents and supervisors, etc.
4. Proof / evidence that you and your company are licensed in Virginia, to pursue this debt. Please cease all collection activities on this account until all documents and information requested above are provided. Any continued collection attempts without providing the requested verification will be considered a violation of my rights.
It is imperative that all documents and information requested above are provided within 30 days of the receipt of this letter. Failure to do so within the stipulated time frame, or if any of the information requested above is not provided, this and any collection effort will be deemed invalid, I will understand that the situation has been corrected and the charges are not applicable.
I strongly suggest your company to work dilligently and ethically, and stop providing false information in an effort to support your case.
Sincerely,
**** *******Customer Answer

Business "refused" to accept one of the letters.
Again, the debt being referred to in the letter is invalid. The (Mid Atlantic) business must get all details and validation from their customer, to include the items listed previously and provide them to me (and again below):
- Verification that I owe the debt, including the original creditor's name and contact information.
- Contract or agreement properly signed by both parties (me and GFL Environmental) providing consent, proving that I accepted the charges specified in your letter.
- Records of all and any communication related to these charges, between me and GFL Environmental (letters, phone call recordings, emails, etc.), to include communication with customer service agents and supervisors, etc.
- Proof / evidence that you and your company are licensed in Virginia, to pursue this debtIt is imperative that all documents and information requested above are provided within 30 days of the receipt of this notification. Failure to do so within the stipulated time frame, or if any of the information requested above is not provided, this collection effort will be deemed invalid, I will understand that the situation has been corrected and the charges are not applicable. While that is provided, and as stated in the letters,

We have called Mr. ******* 5 times starting on 12/18/2023. We left messages on 12/18/2023, 12/19/2023, 01/03/2024 and 01/04/2024. We do not accept certified mail, so we did not receive any letters of dispute from Mr. *******. In our initial demand letter it never states the dispute must be sent certified. We will do a validation that is industry standard for Mr. ******* even though it is past the validation period.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
1- I completely disagree with the dates supplied, primarily because there is no evidence from my side and no method to confirm. As I said when I phoned the office, if no voicemail is left or a notification is received, it appears that my provider automatically tags the calls as SPAM and does not transmit them to my phone.
2- Two letters were sent (one non certified, which is currently waiting to be picked up and evidence is available) and one certified. As of today, NONE of the letters had been picked up (see to the USPS screenshot). The original of this letter was mailed on November 27, 2023 (non-certified Tracking # ********************** and status from USPS has been provided and, as of today, still not picked up), then and a copy of that same letter was mailed on December 13, 2023 (certified - Tracking # ***********US and status from USPS provided which was rejected).
3- Even though there were two letters, there is no reason your company cannot accept either one or both. Clearly, rejecting a certified letter serves the objective of evading accountability. However, the other non certified mail was still never picked up from the SAME PO Box that was originally provided.
4- Even after chatting with the reps, they were unable to assist and advised me to leave a voicemail in their manager's inbox, which I did, but there has been no answer as of today (1/8).
As previously stated, there is ample proof that the process as requested and informed occurred throughout the initial 30 days.
With that said, there is nothing outstanding on my end. Please suspend all collection efforts on this account until all of the documents and information requested above have been supplied. Any further collection attempts without providing the requisite verification/validation will be regarded as a breach of my rights.
All papers and information required above must be given within 30 days of receiving this letter. Failure to do so within the required time limit, or if any of the information sought above is not provided, this collection attempt will be considered invalid, I will understand that the issue has been clarified and the charges are not applicable as consistently stated.
Sincerely,
**** *******Initial Complaint

I paid 3 months in advance and at the end of 3 months I wanted my service cancelled. They sent me a bill for the next 3 months. I sent them a notice that I no longer wanted their services, three times. On the fourth notice, I sent a registered letter to them to cancel my services. Then I got a collection notice saying I owed $92.56 but I do not owe them this. The local *** company has told me that I don't owe this. I told this to the collection's company. I sent numerous cancellation notices to *** that I don't owe this. *** sent many notifications that I don't owe a debt to Mid America Collections and Mid America Collections said that they did not receive anything and as far as they are concerned I still owed them money. I needed to pay by the end of August or it will go on my credit report. I asked them to call *** themselves but they will not do it. I tried calling ***** corporate office myself three times and they will not return my call. No one will return my call so I can get this taken care of or answer the phone. I have asked for a copy of what they sent to Mid America Collections but they won't send it to me. *** claims that I don't owe them anything. The collection agency said they have not received anything from ***.Business Response

Received a letter from Mid-America Collections (attached) in reference to a dental procedure my wife had at Advanced Dentistry of Nevada, Missouri. Due to accounting and billing errors in submitting the claim to our insurance provider, Humana, the bill was viewed as past due by the dentistry office. We have been in contact with both the dentistry office and Humana and the issue is being corrected. Now comes the issue of notifying the collections office. I emailed them on June 20th (at *********************) and advised them to contact their employer/contractor (******** *********) that this bill was a submittal/accounting error between Advanced Dentistry and Humana. As I did not receive any reply from Mid-America Collections I called them today (7-6-23) to verify they received the email. Upon initial contact with a Julie Hayden, she informed me that she did not work with the emails and her supervisor, Michael (later identified as Michael Bower) did and I asked to be connected with him, which Julie transferred me to. Upon being connected with Michael, and I explained sending the email, he stated that email address was for the convivence of customers and no one checks it and/or responds to it. He stated that I should have used the reply option on their website. I explained that I wanted to send it directly from my email to have a copy that I had sent it. We then talked about this letter. I explained, as I did in the email, that he needs to contact Advanced Dentistry to confirm that this has been resolved. He stated that they don't do that and I needed to contact them. I informed him that I should not even be involved as they are his contractor/employer. He stated that he would not contact them and refused to cooperate in any way with confirming this has been resolved. I have been working with the insurance provider and service provider to get their accounting/billing errors corrected. Now this. Just asking for people to do their jobs.Business Response

MCS is attempting to collect a false debt. Their tactics are against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They have contacted after allotted hours. They are contacting so frequently that it aligns with harassment definitions.Business Response

We have attempted to contact her on a completely legitimate debt 6 times this year. That averages to 1 time a month. We have every right to attempt contact once a day for every phone we have on file for her. So as you can see we are well within the FDCPA.Customer Answer

After reviewing a recent copy of my credit report, I found multiple errors. I have addressed these with all three credit bureaus and the agency listed in question with no resolution as required by law. I am not liable for this debt with Empire District, I do not have a contract with Mid-Amer Accounts Control Bureau. They did not provide me with the original contract as requested. This directly violated my rights under the law: 15 U.S.C 1681 SECTION 602 A. States I have the right to privacy. 15 U.S.C 1681 SECTION 602 A SECTION 2: It also states a consumer reporting agency cannot furnish an account without my written instruction. 15 U.S.C 1692C Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt.Business Response

I was being seen at Access Medical In Joplin, Mo for pain management. I was required to pay before being seen by any medical staff. All the time I was going to them I paid up front. After awhile I received a bill from Access wanting more money for the services that were already paid for. I had explained to them it was a bad business practice to accept payment in full and charge more later. They referred me over to this collection agency for bills in the amount of $156 and $144 and have reported to the credit bureaus and then taken off and put back on. This has negatively impacted my credit score. I want the company to remove them from my credit report along with clearing out the balances beings I had already paid for the services that were provided to me. I did quit going to Access Medical Clinic after they participated in unethical billing practices.Business Response
