On November 2023, he had a large ad in the ***** Press. I called him and he came out and told me for $11,000 he would have it done and he would need $3500 down payment. I wrote him a check that Sunday when he was here. He said when I come out to begin work he would need another $3500 and when the job is complete he would need $7,000. I never heard from him. He came out in late summer and said he was sorry that he didn&#**;t finish the job because he had been sick. &#**;I would like to be refunded my $3500 back.

Gave contractor money. Contractor (***** ****) started project then refused to pay worker. Pay for lumber at tri County lumber in dixon. Contractors check bounced for lumber. We had to pay another 10,000 for lumber on our own. Contractor refuses to finish project and/or pay us what he owed us.

    Business response

    05/22/2023

In response to complaint filed to BBB. Our agreement was for 33,000. of which22,000 had been paid. The customer had also paid for rent on skid loader and concrete saw as well as paying the returned check from *** ******* ******.
One of the reasons, I don't want to pay the carpenter and 2 helpers because the don't know what they are doing and I will continue to refuse to pay these people because I am in a process of completing a job that this contractor took from Lake Remodeling.and will file a complaint with BBB and possibly filing a slander suite. All I ask from ***** is the completion date and how much labor has been paid.I feel that Lake Remodeling is responsible for completion of the project and the cost to run no more that 33,000. (It is already over that.)
I will not be an open checkbook for any labor or materials since Lake Remodeling was fired from the job.

    Complaint: 20049269

I am rejecting this response because:

Mr. **** has not reimbursed us any of our money that he took in order to complete construction of a garage.

Mr. **** has not used any of the money on our construction.

Mr. **** wrote a bad check for our lumber.

We would like the total amount returned.

    Sincerely,
    ******* *****
